This study aims to assess students’ awareness of the health-related roles of yoga, as well as the factors that either facilitate or hinder its practice among students at the University of Danang. A questionnaire survey was administered to 240 students currently enrolled in elective yoga courses. The findings indicate that a significant proportion of students demonstrate a positive perception of yoga’s benefits, particularly in relation to physical health (62.1%), mental well-being (66.7%), and social relationships (51.3%). However, only 34.2% of participants provided an accurate definition of yoga. More specific knowledge items yielded relatively low correct response rates: practice methods (6.7%), timing (6.3%), duration (3.8%), and appropriate space for practice (11.7%). Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) identified four groups of barriers to yoga participation: (1) personal beliefs and values, (2) prior negative experiences, (3) access difficulties, and (4) constraints related to time and health. These factors exhibited Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficients of 0.83, 0.75, 0.66, and 0.61, respectively. Conversely, three key motivators for practicing yoga were identified: (1) support for developing social and community relationships (α = 0.88), (2) influence from others and perceived value of action (α = 0.76), and (3) fulfillment of personal needs (α = 0.64). Based on these findings, the study recommends the implementation of communication campaigns, pilot yoga training programs, and broader institutional support for yoga practice. Additionally, investment in facilities and equipment is essential to foster the development of yoga at the University of Danang and other higher education institutions across Vietnam.  Article visualizations

This study aims to analyze the significance of Fairclough’s (2001) CDA theory on the 2nd update of President Akuffo Addo on the measures taken to combat the spread of the coronavirus. The study employed a qualitative approach and a textual analysis design. The study found that the President employed various linguistic items in his speech, such as discourse markers, deixis, and modality. He used these linguistic items to show power relations, grab the attention of the Ghanaian people, and create coherence in his speech. It was also found that he used words like “thank you”, “fellow Ghanaians”, etc., to promote inclusivity and to minimize division among the citizens. Lastly, the text was first-hand information by the president himself, distributed across the nation via media platforms, and consumed by Ghanaians in a variety of ways. It is concluded that Fairclough’s (2001) CDA uncovers the hidden meanings and ideologies in the text and reveals how language choices influence public perception, support existing social structures, and foster a more critical understanding of the discourse surrounding the 2nd COVID-19 update.  Article visualizations

This article presents a Systematic Review of research that addresses teaching equivalence relations to visually impaired students through 3D printing, following the PRISMA protocol. The search was carried out in February 2024 in the Oasis BR, SciELO, SCOPUS, ERIC and Google Scholar databases, using the following keywords in Portuguese and English: “Equivalence Relation”, “Mathematics Teaching” and “Visual Impairment”. The inclusion criteria adopted were articles published in scientific journals, studies in mathematics teaching, research that addressed equivalence relations, and works involving teaching for people with visual impairment and 3D printing. As a main result, the absence of articles that met all the established criteria was found, evidencing a gap in the literature on the subject. However, studies related to teaching mathematical concepts to people with visual impairments were identified, although without a specific focus on equivalence relations or the use of 3D printing as a pedagogical resource. It is concluded that new research is needed to explore teaching strategies based on assistive technology (such as 3D printing) aimed at learning equivalence relations by students with visual impairments.  Article visualizations

CATEGORIZATION OF PRIMARY SCHOOL PHYSICS TEACHERS’ DIDACTIC INTERVENTION

    Get PDF
Teaching the concept of matter in primary school is challenging because of the obstacles related to children’s understanding of matter’s nature. Through this research, we aim to better understand physics teachers’ practices in primary schools to overcome those obstacles. Through a series of observations, we categorized teachers’ didactic interventions according to two types: mediation and tutelage, based on the scientific method’s phases, while teaching macroscopic characteristics of matter. Then, we perform a statistical test to define which criteria could influence their didactic choices. We could prove that the initial training is irrelevant in our case. However, the seniority can impact the type of intervention adopted to assist students. These results could help to optimize teachers' didactic choices and thus improve the effectiveness of their interventions.  Article visualizations
