    FINANCIAL LITERACY, WORK ENGAGEMENT, AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: A STRUCTURAL EQUATION MODEL ON TEAMWORK AMONG PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS

    This study examined how financial literacy, work engagement, and professional development influence teamwork among public elementary school teachers in Region XII. Using a quantitative, non-experimental design, the research surveyed 400 teachers selected through stratified sampling using the Raosoft sample size calculator. Statistical analysis employed mean calculations, Pearson correlation, multiple regression, and structural equation modeling, with data collected using validated survey instruments adapted for this study. Results showed very high levels of teamwork and professional development, along with high levels of financial literacy and work engagement. Meanwhile, all three independent variables significantly correlated with teamwork. Through structural equation modeling, Model 3 emerged as the best fit, revealing key relationships: financial literacy was characterized by financial attitude and training; work engagement by absorption and dedication; and professional development by thematic knowledge and human resource development. Furthermore, teamwork was primarily defined by mutual support and communication. The findings demonstrated that these three factors significantly impact teachers' teamwork effectiveness. SDG Indicator: #4 (Quality Education)  Article visualizations

    O objetivo do presente estudo foi investigar o nível de ansiedade de pentatletas da seleção brasileira do Exército em relação às qualidades físicas e técnicas. A amostra incluiu 9 atletas masculinos (idade: 27,44±2,74 anos) e 6 femininos (idade: 26 ± 3,52 anos). Foram realizadas avaliações das qualidades físicas, a análise das qualidades técnicas pela pontuação dos atletas nas provas de pentatlo militar e a avaliação da ansiedade através da Escala de Ansiedade Esportiva SAS-2. Os resultados indicaram: 1) diferenças (p<0,05) no tempo de prática; pontuação em pista de pentatlo militar; natação; pontuação total; peso corporal; força e agilidade para o grupo masculino; 2) correlação forte e positiva entre tempo de prática e idade dos atletas masculinos (r= 0,701; p=0,035); 3) correlação forte e positiva entre flexibilidade e tempo de prática das atletas femininas (r=0,819; p=0,046); 4) correlações fortes e negativas da ansiedade somática com a pista de pentatlo militar (r= -0,890; p=0,018); e da preocupação com a pista de pentatlo militar (r= -0,819; p=0,046) e o arremesso de granada das atletas femininas (r= -0,817 ; p=0,047); 5) correlação forte e positiva da quebra da concentração com agilidade das atletas femininas (r= 0,866; p=0,026). A ansiedade somática, preocupação e quebra da concentração interferiram negativamente na capacidade motora e na competência neuromuscular das atletas femininas.The aim of the present study was to investigate the anxiety level of pentathletes from the Brazilian Army team in relation to their physical and technical qualities. The sample included 9 male athletes (age: 27.44 ± 2.74 years) and 6 female athletes (age: 26 ± 3.52 years). The physical qualities were measured, technical qualities were analyzed using the athletes' scores in military pentathlon events and anxiety levels were assessed using the SAS-2 Sports Anxiety Scale. The results indicated: 1) differences (p<0.05) in practice time; military pentathlon track score; swimming; total score; body weight; strength and agility for the male group; 2) a strong, positive correlation between practice time and age for male athletes (r= 0.701; p=0.035); 3) a strong, positive correlation between flexibility and practice time for female athletes (r=0.819; p=0.046); 4) strong and negative correlations between somatic anxiety and the military pentathlon track (r= -0.890; p=0.018); and between worry and the military pentathlon track (r= -0.819; p=0.046) and the grenade throw for female athletes (r= -0.817 ; p=0.047); 5) strong and positive correlation between breaking concentration and agility for female athletes (r= 0.866; p=0.026). Somatic anxiety, worry and lack of concentration negatively affected the motor capacity and neuromuscular competence of female athletes.  Article visualizations

    Tai ji Quan is characterized by slow movements synchronized with meditation, all coordinated with breathing exercises to achieve spiritual tranquillity. This kind of training exercise is light-to-moderate-intensity exercise with metabolic activity varying between 2.5 and 6.5, thus making it suitable for all age groups. It has excellent health benefits and can provide a wonderful alternative to lots of health-related problems. Existing result shows how its practice can increase the state of health of our body, as well as economic and social development.     ASSESSING THE EXTENT OF INTEGRATION OF INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY IN REHABILITATION SCHOOLS FOR LEARNERS WITH EMOTIONAL AND BEHAVIOURAL DIFFICULTIES IN NAIROBI COUNTY, KENYA

    The purpose of this study was to assess the extent of Integration of Information Communication Technology in Rehabilitation Schools for Learners with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties in Nairobi County, Kenya. The Technology Pedagogy and Content of Knowledge (TPACK) model by Mishra and Koehler (2006) guided the study. A mixed-methods research design was employed. The study targeted 17 computer teachers and 114 learners with prior knowledge of ICT in two rehabilitation schools: Kabete and Dagoretti Girls. The researcher employed a purposive sampling technique to select teachers and 57 learners, translating into 66 participants. Data was collected using questionnaires for teachers and questionnaires for learners. The pilot study was done in a rehabilitation school in Kiambu County. Expert judgment was also used in the research instruments to enhance the validity. The reliability of the research instruments was calculated using Cronbach's Alpha, and the results showed that the teachers' and learners' questionnaires had correlation values of 0.81 and 0.79, respectively. The collected data were both qualitative and quantitative. The quantitative data were summarized in descriptive statistics using Statistical Package for Social Science (version 28.1). This involved summation, calculating frequencies and percentages, and determining the mean and standard deviation. Measures of central tendency helped show the trend, while measures of variance, such as standard deviation, helped show dispersion in the data. Qualitative data collected from the open-ended questions in the questionnaires were subjected to content analysis and were summarized thematically. The findings revealed that while a substantial percentage of teachers have received training in ICT, there are still significant gaps in the actual implementation and integration of these technologies in the classroom. The study revealed that teachers generally possess positive attitudes toward the use of ICT, recognizing its potential to enhance learning outcomes for students with emotional and behavioral disorders. The study concludes that the lack of adequate infrastructure, tailored training, and consistent administrative support are significant barriers that need to be addressed to fully realize the potential of ICT in enhancing the learning experiences of students with emotional and behavioural disorders. It was recommended that the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with other stakeholders, prioritize resource allocation to rehabilitation schools to ensure adequate access to ICT infrastructure.  Article visualizations

    SURVEY ON OPPORTUNITIES FOR ACCESSING ENGLISH OUTSIDE CLASS FOR WORKING-STUDYING STUDENTS IN THE ENGLISH STUDIES PROGRAM

    This study investigated opportunities for English language learning outside the classroom among students enrolled in English Language programs at Can Tho University (CTU), Can Tho University of Technology (CTUT), and Tien Giang University (TGU), in Vietnam. The primary goal was to evaluate the extent of student engagement with English outside of class and explore how such activities influence the development of the four core language skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. Data were gathered through surveys of 60 students, interviews with 12 students, and discussions with 6 lecturers from the School of Foreign Languages at Can Tho University. The findings revealed that students most frequently engaged with English through self-study and participation in language clubs, both of which had a significant positive effect on their language skills, particularly Listening and Speaking. The study also highlighted how extracurricular English learning fostered improved communication skills and enhanced overall academic performance. These results emphasize the crucial role of out-of-class learning opportunities in supporting language skill development, especially for students balancing work with their studies.  Article visualizations

    PERCEPTIONS OF SCIENCE LEARNING SELF-EFFICACY IN GHANA: INSIGHTS AND IMPLICATIONS FOR EDUCATION

    Self-efficacy is an important attribute capable of shaping a person’s behavior. Perceived academic efficacy plays an influential role in students' school success, motivation, persistence, engagement, and academic achievements for science disciplines. Although various factors have been found to affect Ghanaian high school students’ science learning, their perceived self-efficacy has not been gauged. This study explored senior high school students’ science learning self-efficacy through a cross-sectional survey of 1,507 students. Data collected were analyzed with means, standard deviation and multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA). The results revealed that students had positive perception about their science learning self-efficacy except for their practical skills. Also, no gender differences in science learning self-efficacy between males and females were seen. It is, therefore, recommended that teachers take active steps by planning and structuring science lessons to include more practical to enhance students’ efficacy in practical skills to boost their overall perception of their science learning abilities.  Article visualizations

    WORKPLACE EXPERIENCE ON QUALITY EDUCATION IN TVET INSTITUTIONS

    Baseline surveys from different countries have found out that there is a weak connectivity between theory and practice in the labour market, which is attributed to the lack of industry involvement in TVET academic programmes. Due to the inability of TVET institutions in the North Rift Region, Kenya to produce workforce with hands-on skills, there was a need for research on training approaches on integration of competency-based education. The purpose of this study was to establish the extent to which workplace experience learning has been integrated in TVET institutions. The study adopted the Diffusion of Innovation Theory. The study utilized the descriptive survey research design. The study targeted 6 principals, 6 industrial liaison officers, 1092 trainers, 18 industry supervisors and 22600 trainees. The sample size was 700 respondents comprising of 6 principals, 6 industrial liaison officers, 293 trainers, 18 industry supervisors and 377 trainees. A purposive sampling technique was used to select principals, industrial liaison officers and industry supervisors. Stratified random sampling and simple random sampling techniques were used to select trainers and trainees from various TVET institutions. The data were collected using questionnaires, interview schedules and document analysis. The instruments were piloted in one of the TVET institutions in the South Rift region of Kenya. Cronbach Alpha coefficient was used to test the reliability of instruments. The quantitative data was analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. Descriptive statistics comprised of frequencies, percentages, means and standard deviation. Inferential statistics involved correlation and multiple regression analysis. Qualitative data were analyzed using thematic method. The study findings revealed that workplace experience (r = .638, p < 0.001) in TVET institutions. The study findings revealed that there was positive linear effect of workplace experience (β3 = .273, p = 0.000) on quality education. The study concluded that. There were inadequate workshops thus hampering trainees from regularly participating in practical aspects of CBET instruction. Lower academic requirements set for recruitment into the TVET programs were creating a negative attitude and perception that CBET was for low achievers. The study recommended that trainers need to understand the market trends.  Article visualizations

    Uma agenda de disponibilização de testes abertos e gratuitos é benéfica à sociedade. Ela se alinha ao movimento da ciência aberta e democratização de testes. O Laboratório de Investigação da Arquitetura Cognitiva (LAICO) se insere nessa agenda a partir de 2021 e começa a disponibilizar os seus testes. Este artigo disponibiliza de forma gratuita e aberta o Teste de Dobraduras da Bateria de Fatores Cognitivos de Alta Ordem (BAFACALO) criado no LAICO. Esse teste objetiva avaliar a habilidade de visualização, a habilidade ampla visuoespacial e o fator geral de inteligência, pertencentes aos modelos de inteligência Cattell-Horn-Carroll e Três Estratos. Esperamos que sua disponibilização contribua para o ensino em avaliação, a investigação de teorias e construtos em inteligência, além de servir como referência para o desenvolvimento de novos instrumentos. An agenda promoting the provision of open and free tests serves as a societal benefit. It aligns with the open science movement and supports the democratization of testing. Since 2021, the Laboratory for Cognitive Architecture Mapping (LAICO) has embraced this agenda by making its tests available to the public. This article introduces the Folding Test of the High-Order Cognitive Factors Battery (BAFACALO), developed by LAICO, as an open and free resource. The test is designed to assess visualization ability, broad visuospatial ability, and the general factor of intelligence, as described in the Cattell-Horn-Carroll and Three-Stratum models of intelligence. We hope this initiative contributes to education in assessment, the exploration of theories and constructs in intelligence, and serves as a model for the development of new instruments.  Article visualizations

    THE EFFECTIVENESS OF VIDEO MODELING INSTRUCTION IN ONLINE TERTIARY PHYSICAL EDUCATION

    Background and Aim of the Study: This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of video modeling instruction in online Physical Education by assessing the observational learning on PE skills of the PATHFIT 3 students of the University of San Jose-Recoletos. Material and Methods: This study used a quantitative survey research design to determine the effectiveness of video modeling instruction in online Physical Education (PE) for PATHFIT students. This study utilized descriptive statistics to describe the duration in minutes of the instructor's video instruction, the frequency of using the video during online PE classes, the frequency of watching the instructor’s video by the students, and their performance scores. while descriptive statistics was used to analyze the collected survey questionnaire data from 121 respondents. Results: The results indicated that video modeling instruction was perceived as highly effective in students' observational learning of PE skills. Results indicate no correlation between the student's performance in PE skills, the video instruction's perceived effectiveness, duration of video instruction, frequency of using video by the teacher, and frequency of watching the video by the students. Conclusions: The effectiveness of video modeling instruction is prevalent in terms of the teacher's frequency in playing the video to aid the skill development in tertiary Physical Education. Video modeling instruction is directly correlated and bound to be effective with the students' frequency of watching the video. With the students we have at present, the number of times they watch the video modeling instruction matters in their learning of the execution of the skill breakdown and movement pattern. Therefore, they need more time to watch and observe the skill demonstration presented through the video modeling instruction because it will yield an effective increase in attention, motivation, production, and performance. With the short duration of the teacher's instructional videos of 3 to 5 minutes, the teacher's utilization of its instructional videos 3 to 4 times, the students will acquire and master the PE skills demonstration with repeated watching of the skill demonstration and enough time to practice.  Article visualizations

    MOTIVES FOR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AMONG PATH-FIT STUDENTS: A STRUCTURAL EQUATION MODELING APPROACH

    Motives for school physical activity should be encouraged by fostering intrinsic motivation and educating students about its health benefits. However, participation decreases as students move, evolving global and national reports. This quantitative study aimed to explore a best-fit model that predicts PATH-Fit students' motives for physical activity in Region X using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The study employed PATH-Fit students in SUCs using systematic random sampling. The data were collected using an adapted and modified survey instrument. The result showed very high autonomy support, moderate exercise self-efficacy, moderate goal orientation, and high motivation for physical activity. The best-fit model, with acceptable goodness-of-fit indices, demonstrated the direct influence of exercise self-efficacy on motives for physical activity. Further, autonomy support and exercise self-efficacy are crucial in promoting PATH-Fit students' motives for physical activity. Clearly outline practical applications.  Article visualizations
