THE ECONOMIC PROGRESS OF A COUNTRY AND THE INCLUSION OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES IN SOCIETY - WHERE ARE WE?
The subject of disabled people began to be more and more debated in Romania, as well as in other countries. However, it is important to be aware of where we really stand when it comes to this topic. This article aims to highlight the existing relationship between the economic progress of a country and the social inclusion of people with disabilities. The major objective of this study is to make a comparison between what we want to have, to live, and what we actually have, and which we still do not live. The work is structured in three parts and follows the proposed goal
CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS FOR INTEGRATING A CIRCULAR INTERACTION MODEL FOR SECURITY PROCESSES IN DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION
A circularity of Information and Communication Systems (ICT) implies a sustainable design of associated management systems to comply with Cyber Security (CS), Information Security (IS) and Data Privacy (DP). Due to the rapidly changing of IT infrastructure and the variety of software systems, changes to the workflow processes in activities are becoming more complex in terms of content. At the same time, global and local threats to electronic information and data processing systems are increasing. An effective protection of the information to be protected for the business processes and business practices is of decisive importance for the success of the organization. Against this background, the strategic potential for a sustainable management of global and local risks in combination with a flexibly designed exchange of information within the management systems is largely unexplored. This paper proposes increasing the efficiency of the Risk Management Process (RMP) by adapting the management activities for IS, CS and DP. Through adapted risk management activities, the assessment of potential consequences or opportunities of risks can be quantified towards the application and management of measures. This includes the combination and expansion of implementing strategic elements for the categorization and group consolidation of management systems as well as the prioritization of secure and sustainable measures. Their dependencies are examined to show that the IS, in combination with the other management systems, plays a central role in the model-based standardization of the information elements. In addition, industry-independent and sustainable security disciplines are proposed in order to model the specific security processes or individual security-relevant process steps within existing company processes
A BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF RESEARCH ON TOURISM TAXATION
Tourism is one of the most flourishing sectors in the world. Tourism related activities are affected by taxes and tributes. The importance of tourism taxation is well recognized. Tourism taxation is a tool that allows obtaining resources to finance the costs derived from tourism activity. In the tourism industry, there are specific taxes, such as hotel room tax or airport exit tax, and general taxes, such as value added tax. This article analyses the research published papers on tourism taxation, by using the bibliometric tool. The data were extracted from the Web of Science database and the analysis has been made by the biblioshiny for bibliometrix package from statistical R software. The results show that 120 researchers studied tourism taxation and published 55 papers in 35 journals. The present paper contributes to research on tourism taxation. As no bibliometric analysis on tourism taxation has been identified in the Web of Science database, this paper is intended to cover this gap.Tourism is one of the most flourishing sectors in the world. Hybrid Workplaces - an Analysis from Ergonomic Perspective
The science of Ergonomics is part of our usual activities, not only at our working places but also in our homes or during our holidays. Of course, the focus is on workplace design, but the information from Ergonomics can be used to improve our internal house design (kitchen, working space, or bedroom), the tourism accommodations (for normal people and those with special needs), and for the design of the facilities from the amusement parks. The changes in the specifics of the work over time due to the development and modernization of the work conditions requested adaptation, changes, improvement, and new solutions from Ergonomics. Nowadays we are facing a new dramatical change – the Fourth Industrial Revolution which will lead to significant changes in work organization and workplace design. The rising share of computer workplaces, automation and computer use in more and more industries, and teleworking will challenge the Ergonomics preoccupations for finding optimal solutions to reduce workplace injuries and illnesses, to settle the correct position at work, to design the work environment, and to manage the work and the workers. It is a certainty that new jobs will appear in the future for whom it will be necessary to settle ergonomic rules and requirements according to the specifics of the workplace. The Covid-19 pandemic shows the need to be flexible and capable of adaptation both from the part of employer and employee. This paper contains a study of the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on job organizations, which will have a big influence on future jobs. The ergonomic perspective takes into consideration the 4B conceptual model and proposes an improvement of this model. Also, a set of ergonomic basic rules is proposed in the case of teleworking jobs
BEING IN THE SOCIAL: A CROSS-GENERATIONAL STUDY ON IDENTITY PROCESSES RELATED TO ROMANIAN TOURISTS
The present paper analyzes the impact of social media platforms on international tourism, focusing on the Romanian tourists. This research is conducted taking into consideration the different generations, especially the Generation X (born 1965-1980), Millennials (born 1981-1995) and Generation Z (born 1996-2012), as well as the three key temporal moments in the travel planning and related decision-making process: before the trip, during the trip, and after the trip. Besides, as the COVID-19 medical crisis has redefined the global tourism industry and tourists’ behavior, an analysis of its impact on the Romanian market and tourists was also included.. In order to obtain a certain result, were used different methods that includes both qualitative and quantitative instruments. The research is undertaken in two stages, before COVID-19 outbreak (2018-2020), and during COVID-19, (2020-2021). The results of the research indicate a clear tendency to use social media before the trip, in the information-research stage. Besides, a series of differences, as well as some similarities are identified across generations in terms of social media usage for travel purposes and social media impact on the tourists’ travel choices, when comparing Romanian travelers with travelers from other countries of the world
THE EFFECT OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC ON FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT
The COVID pandemic is a game-changer that affected almost every aspect of our lives, both economically and socially. The emergence and spread of the COVID virus forced countries worldwide to impose various restriction policies at different times. Growing economic ties between countries are accelerating the transfer of goods and information and the effect triggering economic crises.Multinational corporations\u27 foreign direct investments (FDI) have been greatly affected, as they represent a significant global aspect of economic development in the last decades. The Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) are sensitive to economic and other shocks. Nevertheless, only by a few because FDI is often considered long-term and less sensitive to global shocks, as they involve large amounts of capital investment that are costly to reverse. This paper examines whether the COVID-19 pandemic impact FDI flows. If they do, we analyze the possible channels through which the COVID-19 pandemic influences FDI flows. Our findings show that during the COVID-19 pandemic, investment flows had different impacts on various sectors and were also influenced by the modes of entry. In the manufacturing sector, pandemic damage in host countries has a significant negative impact on both Greenfield FDI and cross-border mergers and acquisitions. In-home countries, it does not significantly impact both types of FDI
ECONOMIC RISKS FOR PROJECT MANAGEMENT – A MONTE CARLO SIMULATION APPROACH
Monte Carlo simulation is a technique that includes several simulation techniques in which the analysis of the real phenomenon is replaced by the analysis of an artificial phenomenon, described by a model, by solving it generating for variables, random values. This paper explores the applications of Monte Carlo simulation for managing project risks
ANALYSIS OF E-GOVERNMENT SERVICES IN SOUTH AFRICA – WHAT ARE THE REASONS FOR POOR IMPLEMENTATION UNDER FAVORABLE CONDITIONS
Many governments worldwide are increasingly using developments in information and communication technologies (ICT) to provide online services to their citizens. This process is commonly referred to as e-government. South Africa is one of the leading nations in technology and overall development in the Sub-Saharan-African region. Nevertheless, South Africa has failed to successfully implement a wide range of e-Government services for its population over the past years. This paper focuses on analyzing the success factors for a seamless implementation of e-Government systems and how countries such as Kenya, which are not a developed as South Africa, were able to adapt and successfully implement functioning systems for their citizens. The theoretical research results have indicated what the main success factors are in e-government implementation. Further analysis has been conducted to find out what the reasons are that South Africa has a non-functioning e-government system. An embedded case study approach has been selected to focus on selected aspects of the case study
POLICY OF ENERGY SECURITY AND CREATION OF ENERGY HUBS
The article introduces energy security policy as a new functional direction of Europe, including Georgia. The prospects of designing and implementing the energy hub policy in Georgia in accordance with the requirements of the European Union are analyzed.
The Russia-Ukraine war and the sanctions imposed on Russia raise the issue of European energy security and the search for new alternative routes, as the problems of transit of energy resources in the practice of EU energy diplomacy are increasingly aggravated. So far, the European Union has focused on creating energy security and national hubs in many directions, including Georgia as the hub of the South Caucasus and Caspian regions.
Due to its geographic position, Georgia today has a chance to become an electric power center. For this purpose, the country should use the advantages of the transit country. It is to become a power transformer and transit country. The functioning of the Transcaucasian power node of Georgia will be significantly strengthened by the implementation of the project of the high-voltage transmission network at the bottom of the Black Sea. Based on the research, recommendations have been developed for short and long term periods
RISK MANAGEMENT IN THE UNIVERSITY ENVIRONMENT
In this article we try to find an answer to the question of whether the concept of risk is compatible with the academic environment. Universities are organizations that have a very special mission - to ensure the future of the country with competent people, capable of leading institutions, but also countries as a whole. We show that universities are, in fact, complex organizations that operate in a turbulent environment with multiple challenges that they have to face. Indeed, risk is an integral part of the existence and therefore the management of organizations. Thus, whether we realize it or not, risk-taking is consubstantial with everything. Since taking risks is inevitable, there is no other way to increase the chances of success in the decisions made than to study the risks, in their two variables, namely their probability and their impact, in order to manage them properly. So, for a university it is vital to have a risk management strategy, which would allow us to have a complex and systemic view of all the risks that threaten the university and allow us to think of appropriate risk response strategies
