    No full text
Pollution has become a common problem nowadays. Constantly, both individuals and large organizations are exposed to the negative effects of this phenomenon, a fact that implies finding solutions to prevent and combat the consequences of pollution. Based on these considerations, the concern of individuals towards sustainability and the principles associated with this concept has increased. Identifying a consumer need to protect the environment, retailers considered that the implementation of sustainable principles in all stages of production processes, respectively in business strategies, is not only a first element of differentiation but also constitutes satisfaction of customers\u27 needs and wishes. Thus, in recent years, especially in the field of consumer products, we are not only faced with the appearance of organic or green products, but also with an increase in the desire of retailers to get involved in the life of the community and to carry out social responsibility campaigns. Currently, companies inform consumers about the sustainable actions they carry out through annual Sustainability Reports, which are carried out by international reporting standards, the best known of which is the Global Reporting Initiative. In this article, we aimed to carry out a comparative analysis of the sustainable communication strategy that three of the retailers operating in the field of consumer goods in Romania have: Lidl Group, Kaufland Group, and Profi Rom

    No full text
The world regulatory landscape of the corporate governance (CG) changed substantially in the last six years having an impact on the company’s business operations and ability to attract capital necessary for the economic growth of the company as the quality of CG significantly contributes to the enhancement of investor and shareholder confidence in the company. Therefore, good corporate governance is a key factor in attracting both local and foreign investments, retaining investor confidence in the company and increasing the company’s competitiveness. Corporate governance refers to having the appropriate people, processes, and structures to direct and manage the business and affairs of the company to enhance long-term shareholder value, whilst considering the interests of other stakeholders. Companies that embrace the tenets of good governance, including accountability, transparency, and sustainability, are more likely to engender investor confidence and achieve long-term sustainable business performance. The attention paid to the international dynamics of corporate governance evolution has led, for example, to a focus on sustainability, through the persistence in promoting the long-term success of the company and its contribution to the community at large. Also in recent years, there has been an increased focus on the role of shareholders/investors in listed companies based on the revised EU legal framework of the dedicated Directive. In addition, G20 and OECD CG principals from 2015 and Paris Agreement from 2015 determined a lot of amendments to the CGC of the capital markets worldwide. The authors will present in this research paper the main directions of the mentioned legal provisions and their impact on the CGC analyzed in the seven years and the new directions for changes proposed by the G20 and OCED after the consultations from 2022

    No full text
The paper aims to explore the current literature about the performance duality, energy efficiency (EE) and corporate financial performance. An increased pressure from international organizations and regulators to internalize environmental mechanisms and sustainability processes into the business strategies of the companies impose to quantify such initiatives on corporate financial performance. Using a unique technic for text-analysis of articles published in the last 15 years we identified four clusters of keywords (Energy Efficiency, Economic Analysis, Performance assessment, Optimization and waste heat) that indicate the way the current academic contribution is structured. It was found that yet, the relationships between energy efficiency and corporate financial performance are still not enough studied mainly because of the lack of data disclosed through ESG reporting. Moreover, the energy efficiency research topics are dominated by engineering academic undertakings, which started to be approached by researchers in the earlies 2000. This aspect indicates that topic of energy efficiency at the beginning was considered the in context of corporate sustainable development through innovation. Our results demonstrates that most of the authors found a positive relationship between energy efficiency (measured through energy intensity) and corporate financial performance, but still there were also contradictory opinions.

    No full text
This article delimitates from the narratives depicting migration – especially under its irregular form – and migrants as a „problem” to be solved; instead, it focuses on the need to integrate migrants and on assessing their input in the overall development of today’s Union, conceived both as an impressive labour market and as a supranational society. It is emphasized the analytical confusion caused by the multitude of terms and positions regarding the ideal-type relations imagined in the literature between migrants and host societies, and it proposes surmounting the paradigmatic incommensurability by gathering these various approaches under the umbrella of the concept of incorporation that will prove useful for providing a unitary framework for conducting fruitful debates and analysis about how to better integrate migrants and strengthen their role in their new communities

    No full text
The external public audit, plays one of the most important roles in ensuring the efficient management of public funds and contributes to the identification, combating and prevention of financial fraud, a contribution that can be evaluated by analysing deviations with financial implications on the public budgets. The objective of this paper is to highlight the existence of direct proportionality between the quality of public audits with the value of identified deviations. After reviewing the specialized literature, we used the qualitative methodology to synthesize the data contained in the Annual Public Reports on local public finances published by the Court of Accounts of Romania and we analysed factors as additional income, damages, referrals to criminal investigation bodies. The sample includes the territorial administrative units of the counties and municipality ’s of Romania. The results of the study revealed that, although through its audit actions, the Court of Accounts of Romania identified deviations like additional income or damages with a constant value for the audited years, the referrals to the criminal investigation bodies are in a decrease. At the end of the paper the conclusions, future directions and limitations of the study are presented

The connection between humans and nature has always been exceptional in Maramureș, which is reflected in the existing crafts and traditions. This connection has materialized in the villages of Maramureș through the presence of traditional elements such as wooden gates, wooden churches, and wooden houses. The opinion regarding the importance of these elements varies among the local population, and significant changes in Romanian society in terms of politics, social issues, and economics in recent years pose a threat to traditional Maramureș architecture in all its aspects.
