    The Impacts of Processes of Digitalization on the Reception of Contemporary Art in Turkey During Covid-19

    During the Covid-19 pandemic, internet-based technologies have become a lifeline for artists, art professionals, and audiences. The widespread usage of digital formats and techniques in the production and presentation of artworks has made contemporary art practices more accessible and thus open to being experienced. On that point, we ask: How has contemporary art, which rapidly shifted to digital platforms soon after the outbreak of the pandemic, been received in light of these transformations? By means of an online survey (N = 627), we examined the art-viewing habits of contemporary art audiences in Turkey, exploring how they have changed in the course of the pandemic and how that shift has been reflected in their experiences.     Global energy use

    The concept of sustainable energy transition has evolved over the last six decades. Conservationism was the concept under which sustainable energy development was first conceived in the 1960s, but after the two oil price shocks, conservationism evolved into sustainable energy transition. The world is in the midst of a sustainable energy transitional period during which a major shift from fossil fuels to renewables energy use will inevitably occur. This transition has two key components: increasing use of renewable energy and improving energy efficiency. However, four major changes occurred in the world's energy system in recent decades: (1) the decline of the rate of growth of global energy demand because of energy crises, (2) trend reversal in energy substitution, (3) increasing demand in the developing, non-OECD world, and (4) China becoming the world's biggest energy consumer. These changes are expected to affect sustainable energy use during the ongoing energy transition. They clearly show us that the center of gravity in energy has shifted from developed world to developing world and that the new dynamics will certainly differ from those of the fossil fuel era. It is obvious that the ongoing energy transition will certainly be more difficult than previous ones. Governments and policy makers, which are known to play an important role in energy transitions, should mobilize private actors to take the initiative and people to actively participate in energy transition. Meanwhile, the best policy would be to continue to increase renewable energy use and energy efficiency. © The Author(s), 2023. All rights reserved

    Short-Term Forecast for Turkey's Electricity Demand Dnn Vs Lstm

    This study aims to estimate Turkey's short-term electricity demand using artificial intelligence algorithms. Electrical systems are complex structures; therefore, many details must be considered for the prediction. Electricity demand forecasting depends on many conditions such as climate, calendar effect ( holidays, day of the week, etc.), demographic data, and economic data. Turkey is a relatively large and crowded country, whose population distribution is concentrated in some regions and climatic conditions, population-weighted meteorological data were used as independent variables. Predicting the future is challenging machine learning can help us understand how systems behave by identifying and analyzing patterns in data. Two advanced artificial neural network models were deployed in this study: a deep neural network (DNN) model, and stacked (deep) long short-term memory (LSTM) model. Their outputs provided estimates of hourly electricity consumption compared with the actual data. For this comparison, mean square error (MSE), mean absolute error (MAE), and mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) metrics were used. It was observed that the DNN model predicted more accurately than the stacked LSTM model

    Treatment prediction with machine learning in prostate cancer patients

    alcin, goksel/0000-0003-2268-9606There are various treatment modalities for prostate cancer, which has a high incidence. In this study, it is aimed to make predictions with machine learning in order to determine the optimal treatment option for prostate cancer patients. The study included 88 male patients diagnosed with prostate cancer. Independent variables were determined as Gleason scores, biopsy, PSA, SUVmax, and age. Prostate cancer treatments, which are dependent variables, were determined as hormone therapy(n = 30), radiotherapy(n = 28) and radiotherapy + hormone therapy(n = 30). Machine learning was carried out in the Python with SVM, RF, DT, ETC and XGBoost. Metrics such as accuracy, ROC curve, and AUC were used to evaluate the performance of multi-class predictions. The model with the highest number of successful predictions was the XGBoost. False negative rates for hormone therapy, radiotherapy, and radiotherapy + hormone therapy treatments were, respectively, 12.5, 33.3, and 0%. The accuracy values were computed as 0.61, 0.83, 0.83, 0.72 and 0.89 for SVM, RF, DT, ETC and XGBoost, respectively. The three features that had the greatest influence on the treatment model prediction for prostate cancer with XGBoost were biopsy, Gleason score (3 + 3), and PSA level, respectively. According to the AUC, ROC and accuracy, it was determined that the XGBoost was the model that made the best estimation of prostate cancer treatment.     This chapter examines state-business relations in Turkey before and after the Arab uprisings to explore how and to what extent the business community is involved in foreign policy processes. İlk başta, Parkinson hastalığı hastayı etkileyeb ilir ve titreme veya sallanma gib i kontrolsüz davranışlara, denge kaybı ve kasların ve vücudun sertliğine ve otomatik hareketlerde zorluğa neden olabilir. Kalıtsal olarak geçebilen bu rahatsızlıklarda, semptomlar her geçen gün yavaş yavaş ilerlemekte olup, özellikle orta yaşlı ve yaşlı kişiler etkilenmektedir. İstatistikler, dünya çapında 10 milyondan fazla kişiye Parkinson teşhisi konulduğunu göstermektedir. Öte yandan, Alzheimer hastalığı, beyin fonksiyonlarının etkinliğinde zayıflık olarak biline n parkinson'un nedenlerinde n biridir ve aynı zamanda beyin hücrelerinin ölümü olarak da bilinir. Cihaz, sistemi kontrol eden bir Arduino ATmega328P'ye ve hastadan doğru zamanda tam doz hacmini almasını sağlayan bir ekrana sahiptir ve ilaç hatası riskini azaltır. Cihaz ilaç kabının varlığını algılayarak hastanın ilacı boş bir kaptan veya yanlış kaptan almasını engeller. Ek olarak cihaz, ilaçların yanlış sıcaklıklara maruz kalmasını önleyerek hasta güvenliğini artıracak şekilde tasarlanmışt ır. Bunlara ek olarak, sistemin da hili hatırlatıcısı, bakıcının oda sıcaklığını izlemesi için uygun bir yol sağlayan harici bir sıcaklık göstergesini kullanır. Cihaz, hastalara ilaç alımla r ını yönetmele r i, yaş a m kalitelerini artırmaları ve ilaç hatası riskini potansiyel olarak azaltmaları için sezgisel ve güvenilir bir yol sağlamak üzere tasarlanmıştır. On the first hand, Parkinson's disease can affect the patient, leading to uncontrolled behaviors like tremors or handshaking, loss of balance and rigidity of muscles & body, and difficulty in automatic movements. Symptoms are increasing slowly daily; the targeted people are mostly middle-aged and elderly, and sometimes it transfers hereditary. According to statistics, Parkinson has been identified in more than 10 million people globally. On the other hand, Alzheimer's disease is one of Parkinson's causes, known as a weakness in the effectiveness of brain functions, also known as a death of brain cells leading to deleting memories and forgetting past stories so the patient can sometimes forget tasks to do or family members or medicaments to take. It's dangerous because patients may act involuntarily harmful actions; chiefly, it affects older people. Statistics show that approximately 44 million individuals worldwide have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. This thesis presents the design and implementation of a smart medication reminder for Parkinson's disease (PD) and Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients who require regular liquid syrup medication. The device has an Arduino ATmega328P that controls an alarm and a display prompting the patient to get his exact dose volume at the right time, reducing the risk of medication errors. The device detects the presence of the medication cup, preventing the patient from taking medication from an empty cup or the wrong container. Additiona ll y, the device is designed to avoid medicatio n exposure to incorr e c t temperatures, enhancing patient safety. The reminder also features an exter na l temperature display, providing a convenient way for the caregiver to monitor the room temperature. The device is designed to provide patients with an intuitive and reliable way to manage their medication intake, improve their quality of life, and potentially reduce the risk of medication errors.     Constructing a Barrier-Free Body Dramaturgy Through Somatic Practices in Contemporary Acting

    Çağdaş tiyatronun yirminci yüzyılın ikinci yarısından itibaren postdramatik olarak adlandırılan bir yaklaşıma doğru evrilmesiyle birlikte tiyatronun diğer tüm unsurlarında olduğu gibi oyunculuk alanında da yaratıcı olasılıkların sınırsız şekilde deneyimlendiği bir döneme girilmiştir. Metnin ve yazarın boyunduruğundan kurtulan oyuncu bedeni, karakterin temsilcisi olmanın ötesine geçerek doğrudan kendisini sunmasını, şimdi ve burada mevcut olmasını sağlayan, yaratıcı bir bedenleşmiş deneyime kendisini açmaya başlamıştır. Bununla birlikte, çağdaş oyunculuk yaklaşımlarının gündelik-dışı davranışa yaptıkları vurguya paralel olarak farklı özelliklere sahip bedenlerin kendi sınırları ve kısıtlılıkları içerisinde oyunculuğu deneyimlemesi mümkün hâle gelmiştir. Engelli olarak adlandırılan bedenlerin gündelik hayatın içindeki eşitsizliklerden kaynaklı olarak sürekli gündeliği aşan bir performans göstermesi gerektiği düşünüldüğünde, oyuncu olarak bu postdramatik yeni oyunculuk paradigmasına doğal olarak yatkın oldukları görülmektedir. Beden/zihin birliğine dayanan ve –'engelli' olsun veya olmasın- herkesin kendi bedensel çalışmasını özgün ve özgür bir keşif alanına dönüştürebileceğini iddia eden somatik uygulamaların oyunculuk çalışmalarına dâhil edilmesiyle engelleri aşmanın ötesinde bizzat engel fikrinin kendisini ortadan kaldırmak mümkündür.As the contemporary theater has evolved into an approach called postdramatic by the second half of the twentieth century, we have entered a period in which creative possibilities are experienced unlimitedly in the field of acting, as in all other elements of theater. The body of the actor, freed from the yoke of the text and the author, has begun to open itself up to a creative embodied experience that allows it to go beyond being the representative of the character, directly present itself, and be present in the here and now. Moreover, parallel to the emphasis of contemporary acting approaches on the extra-daily behavior, it has also become possible for bodies with distinctive characteristics to experience acting within their own limits and constraints. Considering that the so-called disabled bodies need to constantly perform beyond the everyday due to the inequalities in everyday life, it is seen that they are naturally predisposed to this postdramatic new acting paradigm as actors. It is possible to eliminate the idea of disability itself, beyond overcoming obstacles, by incorporating somatic practices into acting practices, which are based on the unity of body/mind and claim that everyone - whether 'disabled' or not - can transform their own bodily work into a unique and free field of discovery

    Evaluation of container port sustainability using WASPAS technique using on type-2 neutrosophic fuzzy numbers

    According to the common opinion in the literature, the sustainability of container ports is a tremendously complex topic owing to the maritime sector's excessively dynamic form and many highly complex, predictable and unpredictable uncertainties in this industry. The current paper proposes two powerful, practical, inspiring approaches to fill these gaps. It proposes a novel type-2 neutrosophic fuzzy numbers (T2NFNs) based Delphi method to determine the criteria logically and optimal and extends the WASPAS technique based on the T2NFNs for evaluating the alternatives. The current paper presents practical managerial implications that many stakeholders can consider, such as port authorities, ship owners, logistics service providers, governments, and local authorities, when making strategic and managerial decisions.     A Novel S-Box Design Based on Quantum Tent Maps and Fractional Stochastic Models With an Application in Image Encryption

    Yalcin, Mustak Erhan/0000-0003-3377-2560In this article, we propose an approach to create a high-quality quantum tent map by utilizing the generalized quantum dot system. Our objective is to determine if its chaos surpasses that of the traditional classic tent. To achieve this, we first introduce a quantum tent map, showcasing its chaotic behavior in relation to control parameters and initial conditions. We validate the presence of chaos by calculating the Lyapunov exponent and analyzing the time series. Next, we design a chaotic S-box based on this new map. Subsequently, we explore the possibility of obtaining strong S-boxes by employing two fractional stochastic models and three components of the proposed quantum tent map. Our primary question is whether the combination of fractional stochastic models and quantum tent maps can result in superior S-boxes. The answer to this question is a resounding "Yes." The performance of these S-boxes exceeds that of previously proposed models. Finally, we evaluate a mixed S-box as the foundation for achieving highly secure image encryption. Among the models presented in this article, the best-performing S-box is produced through the combination of the fractional gamma distribution (FGD) with parameters alpha = 1.06 and beta = 2.8, along with the X-quantum tent map dimension. This model achieves an SAC (Strict Avalanche Criterion) value of 0.5, surpassing even AES (Advanced Encryption Standard). Its non-linearity value is 106.625, indicating excellent performance. Additionally, the model has an LP (Linear Property) value of 0.128906 and a DP (Differential Properties) score of 12. Furthermore, we obtain BIC-SAC 0.503209 and BIC-Non-linearity 103.679. Lastly, we present an image encryption algorithm to demonstrate the effectiveness of the mixed S-box, evaluating its performance against various attacks. The results affirm the suitability of this encryption method, with the generated image encryption offering a key space of 216960, ensuring high security. The example image exhibits an entropy value of 7.9311. Moreover, it demonstrates correlations in different orientations: horizontal (0.0076), vertical (-0.00048659), and diagonal (0.00020717). The image also achieves NPCR (Number of Pixel Change Rate) at %99.63 and UACI (Unified Average Changing Intensity) at %33.96. Notably, the algorithm executes in an impressive time of 0.810653, particularly considering the utilization of new 64 S-boxes instead of a fixed one. Even the correlation value for some standard photos approaches 0.0000667, demonstrating smallest correlation.     Politics of Intimacy: Understanding Power Relations and Gender Roles Through the Use of Dating Apps in Turkey

    Bu araştırmanın amacı flört uygulamaları üzerinden heteroseksüel ilişkilerdeki güç dinamiklerini anlamak, flört uygulamalarının güç ilişkilerine etkilerini ve flört senaryosunda yarattığı değişiklikleri görmektir. Bu doğrultuda kapsamlı bir literatür taraması ile birlikte Türkiye'de yaşayan flört uygulaması kullanıcılarının deneyimlerini ölçmeye yönelik bir anket çalışması yapılmıştır. Geleneksel flört senaryosu ve online flört senaryosu karşılaştırıldığında yepyeni bir şeyle karşılaşılmamıştır. Aksine gelenekseli taşıyan ama yeninin yerini de yapmaya başlayan bir senaryo görülmüştür. Geleneksel senaryoyu ve güç ilişkilerini yavaş yavaş aşındırmaya çalışan, bu esnada bazen çarpıp geri dönen bir senaryo olduğu için 'mixed script'(karma senaryo) olarak adlandırılmıştır. Feminist bir ihtimal olarak Bumble sonuç bölümünde tartışılmıştır ve bir flört uygulamasının feminist olarak kabul edilebilmesi için daha fazlasına ihtiyacı olduğunun açıklaması yapılmıştır. Böylece aslında daha büyük bir soruya ulaşılmış, teknolojinin feminist olup olamayacağı sorulmuştur. Teknofeminismden yola çıkarak teknolojinin tek başına feminist olarak tanımlanmasının ve feminist bir dünyayı yaratmasının mümkün olmadığı, feminist bir dünyanın ancak topyekün sistemsel bir dönüşümle kurulabileceği ve teknolojinin de bunun bir parçası olabileceği açıklanmıştır.The purpose of this research is to understand the power dynamics in heterosexual relationships through dating apps, to see the effects of dating apps on power relationships and the changes they create in the dating script. In this direction, a survey study was conducted to measure the experiences of Turkish dating app users, together with a comprehensive literature review. There is nothing brand new when comparing traditional dating script and online dating script. On the contrary, a script that carries the traditional but started to replace the new has been seen. It is called a mixed script because it is a script that tries to gradually erode the traditional script and power relations, while sometimes crashing and returning. As a feminist possibility, Bumble was discussed in the conclusion, and it was explained that a dating app needs more to be considered feminist. Thus, a larger question was actually reached, whether technology could be feminist or not. Based on technofeminism, it has been explained that it is not possible for technology to be defined as feminist and to create feminist world-making on its own, that a feminist world can only be established with a total systemic transformation and technology can be a part of it
