    An Ant-Lion Optimization Based Approach to Solve Phase Balancing Problem in Distribution Networks

    Phase unbalance is a significant issue for power distribution networks. It can lead to increased energy losses and voltage instability, undermining the electrical grid's reliability and efficiency. We propose an approach to minimize voltage unbalance through reactive power management from PV installations and the optimization of charging/discharging of energy storage devices utilizing a control algorithm based on Ant-Lion Optimizer. We tested the approach on the IEEE 123-Bus Test System, incorporating PV generations by daily simulations. From the results, the combined operation of reactive power support from PVs and Storage Units with the help of the ALO algorithm offers a promising solution to the phase unbalance problem.Conference Proceedings Citation Index - Scienc

    The Role of Affordances in Online Dating Experiences of Women on Bumble in Turkey

    Bu tez, Türkiye'de metropolde yaşayan, heteroseksüel ve heteroseksüel olmayan genç kadınların tanışma platformu Bumble'daki çevrimiçi flört deneyimlerinde uygulama olanaklarının rolünü anlamayı amaçlamaktadır. İlk olarak, Bumble'ın feminist önermesini mevcut uygulama mimarisine nasıl dahil ettiğini incelemektedir. İkinci olarak, kendini feminist olarak tanımlayan bir tanışma uygulaması olan Bumble'ın olanaklarının Türkiye'deki genç kadınların çevrimiçi flört pratikleriyle beraber nasıl şekillendiğini analiz etmektedir. Çalışma, teknofeminizm, teknoloji ve toplumun karşıklı biçimlenişi ve olanaklar kavramı üzerine mevcut araştırmalara dayanmaktadır. Olanaklar kavramı, hem teorik hem de metodolojik yaklaşımlarda, walkthrough analiz ve çözümsel uygulama analizi tekniği uygulanarak kullanılmıştır. Walkthrough analizi yöntemi, Bumble'ın marka kimliği, ve uygulama mimarisinin son halini anlamak için kullanılırken, aynı zamanda belirtilen feminist amacının tasarımına ne ölçüde yansıdığını belirlemek için de kullanılmıştır. Bu bulgularına dayanarak, genç yetişkin kadınların uygulamayı nasıl algıladıklarını ve uygulamayla nasıl etkileşime geçtiklerini ve dolayısıyla bu süreçte olanakların nasıl şekillendiğini daha iyi anlamak için çözümsel uygulama analizi görüşmeleri yapılmıştır. Bu çalışma, İstanbul, Türkiye'de metropolde yaşayan, heteroseksüel ve heteroseksüel olmayan bireylerden oluşan 18-30 yaş arası 16 genç yetişkin kadınla yapılan walkthrough analizler ve çözümsel uygulama analizi tekniği görüşmeleri yoluyla toplanan verilere dayanmaktadır. Uygulamanın mimarisinin Bumble'ın feminist konumlandırmasından beslenen özellikleri, genç kadın kullanıcılar için sınırlı da olsa bir rahatlık ve güvenlik hissi yaratmaktadır. Bununla birlikte, yakın zamanda tanıtılan özellikler, yalnızca kadınların konuşma başlatabiliyor olmasının kapasitesini zayıflatma etkisine sahiptir. Ayrıca, kullanıcı pratiklerindeki farklılıklar ve Türkiye'nin kültürel bağlamının farklılığı nedeniyle bazı olanaklar gereksiz hale gelmektedir. Bu tez, Bumble'ın sunduğu olanaklarının çoğulluğunu (Pentzhold ve Bischof 2019), ve bunların Türkiye'nin kültürel bağlamındaki şehirli genç kadın kullanıcı pratikleri (Costa 2018) tarafından karşılıklı nasıl şekillendirildiğini göstermektedir.This thesis aims to understand the role of app affordances in the online dating experiences of young, metropolitan, heterosexual, and non-heterosexual women on the dating platform Bumble in Turkey. Firstly, it examines how Bumble has incorporated its feminist premise into its current app architecture. Secondly, it analyses how the affordances of Bumble, a self-identified feminist dating app, are shaped mutually by the online dating practices of young women in Turkey. This study builds upon existing scholarships of techno-feminism, the mutual shaping of technology and society, and the affordances. The concept of affordances was employed in both theoretical and methodological approaches. The walkthrough analysis method was employed to understand the most recent iteration of Bumble's brand identity, and app architecture, it was also used to determine to what extent its stated feminist objective was reflected in its design. Based on these initial findings, the critical app analysis technique was employed by conducting interviews to understand how young adult women perceive Bumble and engage with it, and how the affordances are shaped. This study is based on data collected through walkthrough analyses and critical app analysis technique interviews with 16 young adult women between 18 and 30, comprising both urban heterosexual and non-heterosexual individuals in Istanbul, Turkey. The features of the app's architecture that are informed by Bumble's feminist positioning create a sense of comfort and safety for young female users, albeit to a limited extent. However, recently introduced features have the effect of undermining the capacity of women-initiated conversations. Additionally, some of the affordances become redundant due to differences in user practices and the cultural context of Turkey. This thesis illustrates the multiplicity of affordances of Bumble (Pentzhold and Bischof 2019), and how they are shaped mutually by urban young female user practices (Costa 2018) in the cultural context of Turkey

    The Effect of Pyranine and Mos<sub>2</Sub> Content on the Optical Properties of Polyacrylamide-mos<sub>2</Sub> Composite Gels

    The most favorable members of the class of two-dimensional (2D) materials, molybdenum sulfide (MoS2), graphene, and tungsten disulfide (WS2) have become a thriving research frontier for many applications, ranging from catalysis to optoelectronic devices, due to their superior electronic behavior and mechanical properties. Making a new, smart, hydrogel when incorporating MoS2 into basic hydrogels can change their optical, electronic, and mechanical properties. In this work, MoS2-doped polyacrylamide (PAAm) gels were prepared via the free radical crosslinking copolymerization technique at room temperature without pyranine which is often used for crosslinking PAAm. The optical properties of PAAm-MoS2 composite gels were investigated, and they were analyzed using ultraviolet (UV) and fluorescence spectroscopy. The absorbance was measured before and after diffusion of MoS2-doped PAAm, and after the release of pyranine in and out of the composite gel, respectively. The shift of the absorption edge toward shorter wavelengths was seen when the quantity of MoS2 in the PAAm composite gels was decreased. The constituents included in the polymer composites exhibited notable photon energy absorption within the visible and ultraviolet spectra. This absorption phenomenon induced electron transitions to states of elevated energy. Parameters, such as refractive index and extinction coefficient, were analyzed with respect to the content of MoS2. When the MoS2 amount was increased in the gels, the percentage of reflectance increased. The extinction coefficient increased at longer wavelength and it decreased in the UV range, the shorter wavelength region. The results suggested that MoS2-doped PAAm composite gels show promising optoelectronic properties for developing optoelectronic devices

Bu sebepledir ki hizmet sözleşmesi bittikten sonra dahi işveren tarafından, işçinin rekabet etmeme yükümlülüğü altına girmesi istenmektedir. İşçi ile işveren arasında akdedilen rekabet yasağı sözleşmesi ile rekabet etmeme yükümlülüğünün, hizmet sözleşmesi bittikten sonra da devam etmesi mümkündür. Ancak bu sözleşme tek başına sır saklama yükümlülüğünün de devam edeceği anlamına gelmez. Bu nedenle sözleşmeye sır tutma kaydının eklenmesi ya da ayrıca sır saklama sözleşmesinin yapılması gerekmektedir. İşçi ancak bu şekilde hizmet sözleşmesi sona ermesine rağmen sır saklama yükümlülüğü altına girer. Üretim ve iş sırlarını saklama yükümlülüğü olan işçinin bunları ifşa etmesi halinde ise sözleşme kapsamında ya da haksız rekabet hukuku çerçevesinde sorumluluğu gündeme gelecektir

    Design and Implementation of a Nano-Scale High-Speed Multiplier for Signal Processing Applications

    Digital signal processing (DSP) is an engineering field involved with increasing the precision and dependability of digital communications and mathematical processes, including equalization, modulation, demodulation, compression, and decompression, which can be used to produce a signal of the highest caliber. To execute vital tasks in DSP, an essential electronic circuit such as a multiplier plays an important role, continually performing tasks such as the multiplication of two binary numbers. Multiplier is a crucial component utilized to implement a wide range of DSP tasks, including convolution, Fourier transform, discrete wavelet transforms (DWT), filtering and dithering, multimedia information processing, and more. A multiplier device includes a clock and reset buttons for more flexible operational control. Each digital signal processor constitutes a multiplier unit. A multiplier unit functions entirely autonomously from the central processing unit (CPU); consequently, the CPU is burdened with a significantly reduced amount of work. Since DSP algorithms must constantly carry out multiplication tasks, the employment of a high-speed multiplier to execute fast-speed filtering processes is vital. The previous multipliers had lots of weaknesses, such as high energy, low speed, and high area, because they implemented this necessary circuit based on traditional technology such as complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) and very large-scale integration (VLSI). To solve all previous drawbacks in this necessary circuit, we can use nanotechnology, which directly affects the performance of the multiplier and can overcome all previous issues. One of the alternative nanotechnologies that can be used for designing digital circuits is quantum dot cellular automata, which is high speed, low area, and low power. Therefore, this manuscript suggests a quantum technology-based multiplier for DSP applications. In addition, some vital circuits, such as half adder, full adder, and ripple carry adder (RCA), are suggested for designing a multiplier. Moreover, a systolic array, accumulator, and multiply and accumulate (MAC) unit are proposed based on the quantum technologybased multiplier. Nonetheless, each of the suggested frameworks has a coplanar configuration without rotated cells. The suggested structure is developed and verified utilizing the QCADesigner 2.0.3 tools.     What Is Quantum in Probabilistic Explanations of the Sure-Thing Principle Violation?

    Pusuluk, Onur/0000-0002-9167-7273The Prisoner's Dilemma game (PDG) is one of the simple test -beds for the probabilistic nature of the human decision -making process. Behavioral experiments have been conducted on this game for decades and show a violation of the so-called sure -thing principle , a key principle in the rational theory of decision. Quantum probabilistic models can explain this violation as a second -order interference effect, which cannot be accounted for by classical probability theory. Here, we adopt the framework of generalized probabilistic theories and approach this explanation from the viewpoint of quantum information theory to identify the source of the interference. In particular, we reformulate one of the existing quantum probabilistic models using density matrix formalism and consider different amounts of classical and quantum uncertainties for one player's prediction about another player's action in PDG. This enables us to demonstrate that what makes possible the explanation of the violation is the presence of quantum coherence in the player's initial prediction and its conversion to probabilities during the dynamics. Moreover, we discuss the role of other quantum informationtheoretical quantities, such as quantum entanglement, in the decision -making process.     Strategic Heterogeneous Customers in a Transportation Station: Information and Pricing

Customers are strategic decision makers who weigh the reward from the transport service against the waiting cost for the vehicle at a transportation station. Customers arrive at the station according to a Poisson process, and the vehicle visits the station according to a renewal process. We analyze the optimal price and the equilibrium for different levels of information available to customers. Methodology/results: We represent the service system as a stochastic clearing process, heterogeneity in delay cost as a random variable, and heterogeneity in rewards as a positive affine transformation of delay cost. For each information level, we identify the equilibrium behavior of customers and solve the revenue-maximization problem based on this equilibrium. The equilibrium turns out to be unique in each case, and it is of a threshold form in the sense that for each value of the information, it is best to join either for all types of customers, only for those who are sufficiently price sensitive, only for those who are sufficiently delay sensitive, or for none. The optimal fee is also unique in nontrivial cases. This enables us to perform comparisons across different information structures. Managerial implications: The effect of heterogeneity depends highly on model parameters as well as the available information. For a fixed fee, an increase in heterogeneity has a positive overall impact on the customer population, whereas the effect on the revenue can be positive (slow service at a high fee) or negative (fast service at a low fee). Unlike with fixed fee, for the optimal fee, an increase in heterogeneity can have a negative overall effect on customers.     Women's Snap Judgments for Incompatible Facial and Vocal Cues

    There has been a paucity of studies exploring the combined impact of facial and vocal cues on attractiveness and trustworthiness evaluations. We examined the concurrent evaluation of attractiveness and trustworthiness when facial and vocal cues were incompatible, such as attractive faces with unattractive voices. We collected data from women participants aged between 20 and 33 years (N = 127, M = 22.19, SD = 2.34). Results revealed that participants evaluated attractive faces with unattractive voices as more attractive, compared to unattractive faces with attractive voice combinations. Moreover, trustworthiness evaluations showed different patterns; participants rated untrustworthy faces with trustworthy voices higher on trustworthiness than trustworthy faces with untrustworthy voice combinations.     Fuzzy Logic Multicriteria Decision-Making for Broadcast Storm Resolution in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks

This problem is exacerbated by high-speed node movements, frequent topology changes, and repetitive discontinuities within these networks, hindering the development of efficient broadcasting protocols. Addressing this gap, our study introduces a pioneering approach utilizing a novel fuzzy method based on multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) to prioritize vehicles in selecting optimal neighbors for data broadcast. The aim of this work is to propose for VANETs a fuzzy MCDM-based re-broadcasting scheme (FMRBS). This method seeks to eliminate broadcast storms and raise data distribution efficiency. We choose the best vehicles for data transportation by using fuzzy logic. The FMRBS system excelled in many respects over UMB and 802.11-Distance. It decreased end-to-end latency and overhead while increasing packet delivery ratio (PDR) and network performance. By efficiently optimizing data distribution inside VANETs, FMRBS lowers broadcasting traffic and network congestion.Science Citation Index Expande

    Towards Atomic Scale Quantum Dots in Silicon: an Ultra-Efficient and Robust Subtractor Using Proposed P-Shaped Pattern

    Mosleh, Mohammad/0000-0002-0991-1623; Rasmi, Hadi/0000-0002-6790-8684Today, Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (CMOS) technology faces critical challenges, such as power consumption and current leakage at the nanoscale. Therefore, Atomic Silicon Dangling Bond (ASDB) technology has been proposed as one of the best candidates to replace CMOS technology; due to its high-speed switching and low power consumption. Among the most important issues in ASDB nanotechnology, output stability and robustness against possible faults may be focused. This paper first introduces a novel P-shaped pattern in ASDB, for designing stable and robust primitive logic gates, including AND, NAND, OR, NOR and XOR. Then, two combinational circuits, half-subtractor and full-subtractor, are proposed by the proposed ASDB gates. The simulation results show high output stability as well as adequate robustness, against various defects obtained by the proposed designs; on average, they have improvements of more than 56% and 62%, against DB omission defects and extra cell deposition defects; respectively. Also, the results of the investigations show that the proposed circuits have been improved by 65%, 21% and 2%, in terms of occupied area, energy and occurrence, respectively; compared to the previous works.Science Citation Index Expande
