“LA BARBARIDAD NO ES TANTA”: Etnografia e Discursos de Racialização dos "Tártaros" pelo Jesuíta Martino Martini (1655)
Get PDFThe present article consists of a discussion on racialization discourses of the “Tartars” in the 17th century based on the Novus Atlas Sinensis (1655), an atlas of China made by Tyrolean Jesuit Martino Martini. Through an analysis of the ethnographical descriptions present in the atlas (in which habits and phenotypes of different East Asian societies are detailed), we point out the author’s attempts to minimize the barbarity and violence attributed to groups coming from Manchuria, who at that time had invaded China and established the Qing dynasty. We propose that Martini effectuates a process of racialization of the Manchus (here called “Tartars”), based on geographic, cultural and environmental criteria that demonstrate the malleability and heterogeneity intrinsic to the narratives of categorization of human populations before the emergence of the “modern” idea of race.O presente artigo consiste em uma discussão sobre os discursos de racialização dos povos “tártaros” no século XVII a partir do Novus Atlas Sinensis (1655), ou Novo Atlas Sínico, confeccionado pelo jesuíta Martino Martini. Por meio de uma análise das descrições etnográficas presentes no atlas, que detalham costumes e fenótipos de diferentes sociedades do Leste Asiático, apontamos as tentativas do autor em minimizar a barbárie e a violência atribuídas a grupos vindos da Manchúria, que, à época, haviam invadido a China e estabelecido a dinastia Qing. O PAPEL DAS MULHERES DA UPA/FNLA NA LUTA ANTICOLONIAL EM ANGOLA: A Trajetória De Luzia Macungo
Get PDFThis article looks at the militant career of Luzia Macungo, an emblematic figure of the UPA/FNLA and the Angolan Women's Association (AMA) in the underground and in Angola's national liberation struggle. We want to publicise her unique experience, highlighting her contribution to the national liberation struggle. In this context, the choice of topic stems from the scarcity of studies on the women of this movement. Methodologically, we relied on oral and documentary sources. The results indicate that, despite the active participation of these women in the anti-colonial struggle, their role is still not recognised in historiography and in Angola's official history.Este artículo repasa la trayectoria militante de Luzia Macungo, figura emblemática de la UPA/FNLA y de la Asociación de Mujeres Angoleñas (AMA) en la clandestinidad y en la lucha de liberación nacional de Angola. Queremos dar a conocer su experiencia única, destacando su contribución a la lucha de liberación nacional. En este contexto, la elección del tema se debe a la escasez de estudios sobre las mujeres de este movimiento. Metodológicamente, nos basamos en fuentes orales y documentales. Los resultados indican que, a pesar de la activa participación de estas mujeres en la lucha anticolonial, su papel sigue sin ser reconocido en la historiografía y en la historia oficial de Angola.Cet article se penche sur le parcours militant de Luzia Macungo, figure emblématique de l'UPA/FNLA et de l'Association des femmes angolaises (AMA) dans la clandestinité et dans la lutte de libération nationale de l'Angola. Nous voulons faire connaître son expérience unique, en soulignant sa contribution à la lutte de libération nationale. Dans ce contexte, le choix du sujet découle de la rareté des études sur les femmes de ce mouvement. Sur le plan méthodologique, nous nous sommes appuyés sur des sources orales et documentaires. Les résultats indiquent que, malgré la participation active de ces femmes à la lutte anticoloniale, leur rôle n'est toujours pas reconnu dans l'historiographie et dans l'histoire officielle de l'Angola.Este artigo esboço biográfico com enfoque na militância política de Luzia Macungo, uma figura emblemática da UPA/FNLA e da Associação da Mulher Angolana (AMA) na clandestinidade e da luta de libertação nacional de Angola. Pretendemos divulgar a sua experiência singular, destacando o seu contributo no contexto da luta de libertação nacional. Nesse contexto, a escolha do tópico decorre da escassez de estudos a versar sobre as mulheres desse movimento. Metodologicamente baseamo-nos em fontes orais e documentais. Os resultados indicam que, apesar da participação ativa dessa mulher na luta anticolonial, o seu papel ainda não é reconhecido na historiografia e na História oficial de Angola
MODESTO BROCOS Y GÓMEZ (1852-1936):: O que Fazemos das Biografias que Tocam em Temas Sensíveis?
Get PDFBased on the figure of the artist Modesto Brocos, this article aims to reflect on some issues that revolve around the trajectories of historical figures who touched on sensitive issues, such as debates about race. Naturalized Brazilian, Brocos was a painter at the turn of the 20th century and gained prominence for his painting A Redenção de Cam, a canvas presented to the public in 1895. The text initially goes back to the artist's life story, a biography that has been little studied compared to his contemporaries. It then addresses how the racial issue was mixed with the artist's trajectory, erasing part of his history and idiosyncrasies. Finally, with the aim of contributing to the historiographical debate on biographies, it reflects on scientific production in light of the questions of the present time in the presence of the past, a theme that historians have frequently addressed.A partir da figura do artista Modesto Brocos, este artigo tem como proposta refletir sobre algumas questões que giram em torno das trajetórias de sujeitos históricos que tocaram em temas sensíveis, como os debates acerca de raça. Naturalizado brasileiro, Brocos foi pintor na passagem do século XIX para o XX, ganhando destaque pela pintura A Redenção de Cam, tela apresentada ao público em 1895. O texto inicialmente remonta a história de vida do artista, biografia pouco estudada em comparação aos seus contemporâneos. Depois, aborda como a questão racial foi mesclada com a trajetória do artista, ocultando parte de sua história e idiossincrasias. Por último, e tendo em vista contribuir para o debate historiográfico sobre biografias, reflete a produção científica diante das perguntas do tempo presente na presença do passado, tema que os historiadores têm frequentemente se voltado

Get PDFThis article is the result of a master's thesis that deals with Education and Sexual and Gender Diversity, based on an analysis of the proposal for transversal themes from the perspective of educators, published in 2017. It is necessary to understand the movement performed by the gender category in the relations established by the social subjects in the capitalist context in order to investigate how to give the expressions of the processes of construction and constant reconstruction of gender identities and the dynamics of human sexuality in education. This reflective exercise enables us to find out what the interference of the school as a legitimate area for education in these processes, and what coping possibilities to oppression related to gender and sexuality that are able to be circumscribed in this space.Este artigo é resultado de uma dissertação de mestrado que trata sobre a Educação e a Diversidade Sexual e de Gênero, a partir de uma análise da proposta dos temas transversais na perspectiva dos educadores, publicada em 2017. É necessário compreender o movimento realizado pela categoria gênero nas relações estabelecidas pelos sujeitos sociais no contexto capitalista, a fim de investigar como se dão as expressões dos processos de construção e reconstrução constantes das identidades de gênero e das dinâmicas da sexualidade humana no âmbito da educação. Este exercício reflexivo nos possibilita desvendar qual a interferência da instituição escolar enquanto espaço legítimo de educação nestes processos, e quais as possibilidades de enfrentamento às opressões relacionadas ao gênero e à sexualidade que são possíveis de serem circunscritas neste espaço

Get PDFThis aims to develop critical reflections on the impacts of the pandemic on education, signaling intervention possibilities for social workers based on Law No. 13,935 of 2019. The motivation for delimiting this topic refers to the processes triggered by the training path in Service Social, based on theoretical-practical experiences. Theoretical-criticism was used in structuring and reflecting on the topic, mentioning the carrying out of field research based on an interview based on guidelines and a focus group, with free dialogue as a way of promoting approaches to social reality, seeking get to know who teachers and students are and what they think about the impacts of the pandemic on the dimensions of life, bringing their notes. The pendemic situation required an imperative capacity to reinvent possibilities, and, it became evident, the concrete need for the presence of social workers in education to realize human and social rights.O presente visa desenvolver reflexões críticas acerca dos impactos da pandemia na educação, sinalizando possibilidades de intervenção para os/as assistentes sociais com base na Lei nº 13.935 de 2019. A motivação para delimitação deste tema refere-se aos processos desencadeados pelo percurso formativo em Serviço Social, a partir de vivências teórico-práticas. Usou-se a teórico-crítica na estruturação e reflexão acerca do tema, cita-se a realização de pesquisa de campo a partir da realização de entrevista por pautas e grupo focal, com diálogo livre como forma de promover aproximações com a realidade social, buscando conhecer quem são e o que pensam os(as) docentes e discentes sobre os impactos da pandemia nas dimensões da vida trazendo seus apontamentos. A situação de epidemia exigiu uma capacidade imperativa de reinvenção de possibilidades, evidenciou-se, a necessidade concreta da presença dos assistentes sociais na educação para a efetivação de direitos humanos e sociais
ESPAÇOS PÚBLICOS SEGUROS E SUSTENTÁVEIS COM PERSPECTIVA DE GÊNERO:: UM ESTUDO SOBRE POLÍTICA PARA SEGURANÇA URBANA DE MULHERES NO MUNICÍPIO DE BELÉM(PA)
Get PDFUrban violence and insecurity in public spaces are present in the daily lives of Brazilians, especially women living in metropolises, whose experiences occur in different ways and with unequal opportunities. This theoretical-empirical article aims to analyze the current programs and policies for urban safety of women in public spaces in the municipality of Belém/PA. It seeks to answer the following question: How are current programs and policies for urban safety of women in public spaces being implemented in the municipality of Belém/PA, in light of the debate on sustainable cities? Methodologically, the research is bibliographical and documentary, with a qualitative, multidisciplinary approach, analytical-descriptive, and exploratory character. The results support the premise that, in Brazil and in the municipality of Belém (PA), urban planning and management still lack effective policies aimed at promoting urban safety with a gender perspective, for the realization of fundamental rights, especially those of women. It is concluded that, in Belém (PA), governmental policies and programs are more focused on women experiencing domestic violence, with less attention to addressing gender-based violence in public spaces, which creates obstacles to achieving urban development on sustainable and democratic bases.A violência urbana e insegurança em espaços públicos estão presentes no cotidiano dos brasileiros, sobretudo das mulheres que habitam em metrópoles, cujas vivências ocorrem de diferentes formas e com desigualdade de oportunidades. Este artigo teórico-empírico tem como objetivo geral analisar os programas e as políticas existentes, atualmente, para a segurança urbana de mulheres em espaços públicos no município de Belém/PA. Busca-se responder a seguinte pergunta: Como estão sendo implementados os programas e as políticas atuais para a segurança urbana de mulheres em espaços públicos no município de Belém/PA, à luz do debate sobre cidade sustentável? Em termos metodológicos, a pesquisa é bibliográfica e documental, tem abordagem qualitativa, multidisciplinar, caráter analítico-descritivo e exploratório. Os resultados apoiam a premissa de que, no Brasil e no município de Belém (PA), o planejamento e a gestão urbanos ainda carecem de políticas efetivas voltadas à promoção de segurança urbana com perspectiva de gênero, para a realização de direitos fundamentais, notadamente das mulheres. Conclui-se que, em Belém (PA), as políticas e os programas governamentais estão mais voltados às mulheres em situação de violência doméstica, havendo menor atenção ao enfrentamento da violência de gênero em espaços públicos, o que cria obstáculos à realização de desenvolvimento urbano em bases sustentáveis e democráticas
PRÁTICAS TRADICIONAIS DO FILÓ ITALIANO EM UMA PERSPECTIVA DE PERFORMANCES CULTURAIS
Get PDFThe aim of this article is to analyze the sociocultural relations of Italian filó based on the performance of Filó de Vila Flores, RS. It is based on a qualitative and exploratory approach, having as methodological fundament the analysis of cultural performances, which seeks to verify how filó traditions are symbolically represented and re-signified. It allows us to reflect on how changes in social structures transform ways of making and interpreting cultural identity elements for the maintenance and integration of groups. In this context, filós have taken on new forms, moving from family gatherings to community and tourist gatherings. These transformations can also be seen in the symbolic field, from the elements that make up cultural practices, reinforcing the myths of Italianness and the working Italian immigrant.Este artigo visa analisar as relações socioculturais do filó italiano a partir da performance do Filó de Vila Flores-RS. Parte-se de uma abordagem qualitativa e exploratória, tendo como fundamento metodológico a análise das performances culturais apresentados por Erving Goffman, Richard Schechner e Victor Turner. Busca-se verificar como as tradições do filó são simbolicamente ressignificadas e como as mudanças nas estruturas sociais transformam os modos de fazer e interpretar os elementos culturais identitários para a manutenção e integração dos ítalo-brasileiros. Nesse contexto, os filós ganham novos formatos, perpassando de encontros familiares a comunitários e turísticos. Essas transformações também podem ser verificadas no campo simbólico, a partir dos elementos que compõem as práticas culturais, reforçando o mito da italianidade
JOÃO FRANCISCO DE SOUZA E LOURENÇO BORGES JUSTINIANO: Duas Lideranças Indígenas Na Construção Do Brasil Independente (Bahia, 1822 – 1833)
Get PDFRecent studies have demonstrated the participation of indigenous people in the construction of an independent Brazil, mainly through the work of councilors, judges and captains-major in indigenous villages. Indigenous protagonism in this context was greatly favored by the expansion of political space and the politicization of indigenous leaders during the period of implementation of the Indian Directory, which ensured indigenous self-government, even though subject to a rigid tutelary regime guided by a program of “reform of customs”. This article recovers fragments of the life trajectories of two indigenous leaders involved in the process of independence in Bahia: João Francisco de Souza and Lourenço Borges. By describing and analyzing their actions, we seek to demonstrate the various forms of indigenous participation in the construction of an independent Brazil, highlighting the autonomous and proactive insertion of indigenous leaders in that context and demonstrating how the writing of short life trajectories can reveal, albeit in a fragmented way, the complexity of that process.Estudos recentes têm demonstrado a participação dos indígenas na construção do Brasil independente, principalmente por meio da atuação de vereadores, juízes e capitães-mores nas vilas de índios. O protagonismo indígena nesse contexto foi deveras favorecido pelo alargamento do espaço político e politização das lideranças indígenas no período de implantação do Diretório dos índios, que assegurou o autogoverno indígena, ainda que submetido a um rígido regime tutelar orientado por um programa de “reforma dos costumes”. Este artigo recupera fragmentos da trajetória de vida de duas lideranças indígenas envolvidas no processo da independência na Bahia: João Francisco de Souza e Lourenço Borges. Com a descrição e análise de suas atuações, busca-se demonstrar as diversas formas de participação dos indígenas na construção do Brasil independente, evidenciando a inserção autônoma e proativa das lideranças indígenas naquele contexto e demonstrando como a escrita de pequenas trajetórias de vida pode revelar, ainda que de forma fragmentada, a complexidade daquele processo
DISCUTINDO NAÇÃO E GÊNERO A PARTIR DE FADWA TUQAN: Memória E Escrita De Uma Poetisa Palestina
Get PDFAbstract: This article aims to investigate the trajectory of the Palestinian poet Fadwa Tuqan based on her autobiography, Rihla Jabaliyya, Rihla Sa'ba, published in Arabic in 1985, in order to discuss the transformations of the Palestinian territory and population in the 20th century. Tuqan grew up in Palestine amidst the British colonial occupation and the presence of the Zionist movement, a process that culminated in the creation of the State of Israel in 1948. Thus, the article seeks to analyze how Tuqan constructs her personal history in her writings, paying attention to her reflections on social, political and cultural aspects of the reality of Palestine, focusing on her impressions on gender, politics and nation. Based on this publication, and the debates in the intellectual and historiographical scene, the article seeks to delve deeper into the implications of gender issues in national formation, crossed by the struggle for the liberation of Palestine.

Este artigo visa investigar a trajetória da poetisa palestina Fadwa Tuqan a partir de sua autobiografia, Rihla Jabaliyya, Rihla Sa'ba, publicada em árabe em 1985, a fim de discutir as transformações do território e da população palestina no século XX. Tuqan cresceu na Palestina em meio ao cenário de ocupação colonial britânica e da presença do movimento sionista, processo que culminou na criação do Estado de Israel, em 1948. Assim, busca-se analisar de que forma Tuqan constrói sua história pessoal em seus escritos, atentando-se para suas reflexões sobre aspectos sociais, políticos e culturais da realidade da Palestina, focalizando em suas impressões sobre gênero, política e nação. Partindo desta publicação, e dos debates no cenário intelectual e historiográfico, busca-se aprofundar sobre as implicações das questões de gênero na formação nacional, atravessadas pela luta por libertação da Palestina.

Get PDFThis article aims at analysing the autobiography of Selma Van de Perre, a Jewish woman, fighter of the Dutch resistance movement, survivor of the Ravensbrück women's concentration camp and victim of violence against women perpetrated by the Nazi regime. Starting from notions and concepts about autobiography, it is intended to propose an understanding about gender and highlight the possibilities of the narrative field for women. It is intended to use the autobiography for a case study of the gender experience in the Ravensbrück concentration camp, considered a camp that has limited records, among the sources of knowledge that elucidate its existence are autobiographies and testimonies. The study focuses on gender issues in the concentration camps, and highlights gender-based violence as a matter.O presente artigo possui como objetivo analisar a autobiografia de Selma Van de Perre, uma mulher judia, combatente do movimento de resistência holandês, sobrevivente do campo de concentração feminino de Ravensbrück e vítima da violência do Regime nazista perpetrada contra mulheres. Partindo de noções e conceitos sobre a autobiografia, pretende-se propor uma compreensão sobre o gênero e destacar as possibilidades do campo narrativo para as mulheres. Pretende-se utilizar a autobiografia para um estudo de caso da experiência de gênero no campo de concentração de Ravensbrück, considerado um campo que possui registros reduzidos, dentre as fontes de conhecimento que elucidam sua existência estão as autobiografias e testemunhos.
