The effect of islamic corporate social responsibility, corporate zakat, liquidity and company on financial performance of sharia banks
This study aims to examine and determine the effect of Islamic Corporate Social Responsibility (ICSR), corporate zakat and liquidity on the financial performance of Islamic banking. In addition, this study also aims to examine whether the variable size of the company moderates the relationship between each variable Islamic Corporate Social Responsibility (ICSR), corporate zakat and liquidity on the financial performance of Islamic banking. The sample used in this study is Islamic commercial banks listed at the OJK for the 2016-2020 period. The total sample is 9 Islamic commercial banks using purposive sampling. The data used are secondary data, the analytycal method used is panel data regression analysis with a Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) test using data processing software Eviews 9. The results show that partially Islamic Corporate Social Responsibility (ICSR) has a negative and significant effect on financial performance as measured by ROA, corporate zakat has a negative and insignificant effect on financial performance as measured by ROA, liquidity as measured by the Current Ratio (CR) has an effect negative and insignificant to financial performance as measured by ROA. The results of research related to moderating variables show that company size is able to moderate the relationship between ICSR and financial performance, company size has no effect as a moderating variable between company zakat and financial performance and company size has no effect as a moderating variable between liquidity and performance.Keywords: Islamic Corporate Social Responsibility (ICSR), corporate zakat, liquidity, company size, financial performance
A Christian Perspective on Explorations of Shared Narrative of Religions and Its Significance to Islamic Studies, Islamic Thought, and Well Living
This paper discusses the shared narrative of religions to Islamic Studies and Islamic Thought to find its content and relate it to the two fields to conduct research in the broader context. In discussing the proposed topic, two approaches are taken from two academic disciplines, history and theology. The approaches are historical trajectory and theology comparative. Each offers its way to deal with the topic to generate certain knowledge of the topic related to the fields and beyond. The topic offers melek agama (religious literacy) and well-living as its important consequences possible to offer to the public to make religion a source and contributor to the development of social order and well living. To describe what is stated above, it is started by discussing the two approaches to the shared narrative of religions. This discussion is designed as a theoretical platform where its contents may be implicitly seen. Then, the researcher address application of its contents
Analysis of inflation, population, and economic growth on poverty in Muslim-majority provinces in Indonesia
This study aims to determine the effect of inflation, population, and economic growth on poverty in Indonesia. The object of this research is the Muslim majority population in 10 provinces in Indonesia in 2017–2021. In this study, the data used are time series obtained from Statistics Indonesia (BPS). The method used to see the effect of using a panel data regression approach is the Random Effect Model. The study results show that simultaneously, inflation has no effect on poverty, population size also has a positive effect on poverty, while economic growth has a negative effect on poverty. Of all the variables, inflation, population, and economic growth simultaneously significantly affect poverty in 10 provinces with the majority Muslim population in Indonesia.This study aims to determine the effect of inflation, population, and economic growth on poverty in Indonesia. Diaspora Arab dan Tionghoa dalam Surat Kabar Aljaum dan Keng Po Koleksi Perpustakaan Nasional Republik Indonesia
Diaspora problem is part of library studies which is interested to be researched. Indonesia is a state whose strategic place for diaspora community in the past. Arabs and Tionghoas diaspora were two diaspora communities which settled Indonesian regions. Study about diaspora does undoubtedly not received more attention yet from library studies perspective.Even though the research is highly important to enrich multidisciplinary aspect within library studies. The aim of this research analyzes information regarding Arabs and Tionghoa diaspora communities in rare newspaper collection of National Library of Indonesia. The result of this research is that the National Library deposits rare newspaper collection indicating the existence of diaspora communities globally. This research uses history approach on viewing newspaper as National Libraryof Indonesia’s collection. The conclusion of this research is that the National Library does not merely posses importance meaning for local community within scope of nation state, however, that for diaspora community in the global scale
Remembering the Disaster: Isra Miraj Commemoration at the Telomoyo Slope Inscription Site during COVID-19 Pandemic
Isra Miraj is a commemoration of the amazing journey of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH to the seventh heaven in one night. In Indonesia, this day is celebrated by various traditions, including rejeban in Java. Some activities such as bersih desa (cleaning the village) ceremony, eating together in haunted or ancestral burial places, and performing various artistic performances are held in rejeban. By applying oral tradition methodology suggested by Jan Vansina (1964), this paper aims to propose that rejeban on the Telomoyo slope is more than a commemoration of Isra Miraj resulted from Islamic-Javanese acculturation. This tradition is a medium inheriting the collective memory of natural disasters in the XIX century. In the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, rejeban is a reminder of local disasters occurred globally
The Role of Islamic Education in Teaching Moral Values to Students
The purpose of this study is to interpret the consequential role of Islamic education in shaping students’ noble character. Islam, which was supposed to be the basis for the mindset and attitude pattern in a Muslim-majority country, is no longer a solid reference. What has long been regarded as foul, non-Islamic behaviors are increasingly rampant today. Public display of blatant nudity and sex related activity shown on social media has become a disconcerting phenomenon. This research is a type of qualitative research with a qualitative descriptive research approach. The data collection techniques adopted observation, documentation, and interviews to determine the role of Islamic education in shaping students' morals. Based on the data obtained, students at SD Khoiru Ummah Yogyakarta learning Islamic education are taught about Aqidah, sharia, and morals. The results show that the role of teaching and learning Islamic education can shape the character of students who have noble character where this is reflected in their thinking, their fidelity to religion, their courage to voice the truth, and their good influence on their families, communities, and society
Exploration of the value of science in the selametan brokohan tradition that develops among the Banyuwangi community
Brokohan is a tradition of salvation that is routinely held by people on the East Java,including Banyuwangi. This tradition is carried out as an expression of gratitude for the birth of a baby in a family. The prayer used in the selametan brokohan salvation is to use Javanese and Arabic. Everyone who comes to the salametan brokohoan tradition will be given “berkat” to take home and can be enjoyed by the family. The purpose of this study was to determine the moral and scientific values that developed in a society with the brokohan tradition. The data collection used in this study was through structured interviews. The data obtained from the research were processed descriptively. Through this research, information can be obtained about the origin of salametan brokohan, the benefits obtained, and the value of knowledge. One of the ingredients used is rice, which we consume every day. In general science, it means to bring blessings and scientifically is the staple food of Indonesians
The Pragmatics of AIN’T within Academic and Social Context
This paper has explored the form, the meaning, and the function of the contraction AIN’T, with the corpus data retrieved from English-affiliated URLs or Websites (web-data), through interpretive techniques and a coding analysis. The utterance AIN’T belongs to non-standard or informal English, which represents or is derived from the forms AM NOT, IS NOT, ARE NOT, HAS NOT, HAVE NOT, DO NOT, DOES NOT, DID NOT, and the others. The meaning of AIN’T implies different aspects, i.e. informality, topic area, low social class, emphasis, and content. The utterance AIN’T is part of close language, or is used for close people for friendship or camaraderie. AIN’T belongs to informal utterances, as it is incomplete, shorter, cut-down (or contracted) from other forms. The utterance AIN’T should be taught academically in classrooms or other teaching and learning encounters as informal language with its various derived constructions, and students or learners should be made aware that AIN’T is part of close language which is used to close people for friendship or camaraderie within interpersonal or social context. Use of AIN’T to not close people or superiors or others in a formal situation may lead to a rude situation, and a probable disharmony entails. Stance Expressions in Introduction of English Research Articles written by Cambodian Authors
Stance Expression indicates feelings, certainty or uncertainty, and interests of the authors. As the increasing needs of the readers on significant findings from the introduction section of Research Articles, a study on Stance Expression of introduction section in the English research articles written by Cambodian authors has been conducted to employ crucial aims of the study: (1) examine stance expression types and the categories of each type; (2) compare the similarities and differences of stance expression types used in the introduction section of English RAs written by Cambodian authors published in local and international journals. Thirty research articles written by Cambodian authors published in local and international journals were used in this study. To fulfill these research objectives, the mixed-method research design was utilized in this study. All the four stance features, such as Hedges, Boosters, Attitude Markers, and Self-expression, proposed by Hyland (2005) were used as a Lexical analysis framework model in this study. The results revealed that four stance expression types were found in this study. The hedge was the most frequently employed among the other types of stances. There is a significantly different in terms of the frequencies of hedge used within both RA journals, but there is no for booster, attitude marker, and self-mention. Local Cambodian authors should follow the international authors as models in applying stance in their RAs. A comparison study of the stance expression and engagement between Cambodian and international authors in the introduction should be expanded more different articles from available journals.Keywords: English research article, introduction section, stance expression, local journals, international journal
Theologising democracy in the context of Muhammadiyah’s ijtihād
This article focuses to examine the process of Muhammadiyah’s ijtihād has evolved, specifically in constructing the notion of Negara Pancasila sebagai Dār al-‘Ahd wa al-Shahādah (the state of consensus and witness) and the arguments on which it is built. The scholarly issues that have been highlighted in this article are study on this specific discourse has not been done yet, the ijtihad in the field of Siyar (law of war and international relations in Islamic traditions) which has been elaborated with ideas of contemporary social sciences is very rare, and the discourse of Siyar has dominantly covered only the area of Middle East. Accordingly, this article confidently fulfils these gaps applying qualitative research method and analysis of social contextualisation. This article argues that the way of Muhammadiyah’s ijtihād in producing the idea of Indonesia as the state of consensus and witness is applying theologising democracy. It consists of trajectory in which Muhammadiyah has objectified Islam and substantialised it to enhance the meaning of democracy
