Clear graph of a ring
This research article introduces the concept of the clear graph associated with a ring R with identity, denoted as Cr(R). This graph comprises vertices of the form {(x,u):x is a unit regular element of R and u is a unit of R} and two distinct vertices (x, u) and (y, v) are adjacent if and only if either xy=yx=0 or uv=vu=1. This research article also focuses on a specific subgraph of Cr(R) denoted as Cr2(R), which is formed by vertices {(x,u):x is a nonzero unit regular element of R}. The significance of Cr2(R) within the context of Cr(R) is explored in the article. Taken Cr2(R) into consideration, we found connectedness, regularity, planarity, and outer planarity. Moreover, we characterized the ring R for which Cr2(R) is unicyclic, a tree and a split graph. Finally, we have found genus one of Cr2(R). © The Indian National Science Academy 2024
The effects of preoperative video-assisted education on anxiety and comfort after breast cancer surgery: Nonrandomized controlled study
Purpose: This study aimed to determine the effects of video-assisted education given before breast cancer surgery on patients' anxiety and comfort. Design: A nonrandomized, controlled, quasi-experimental model was used. Methods: The study was conducted in the general surgery clinic of a public hospital. Seventy patients voluntarily participated in the study, 35 of them were in the Control (CG) and 35 of them were in the Experimental Group (EG). While routine treatment and care were given to CG, a video-assisted education was also provided to EG. The data were collected using the Personal Information Form, State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), and General Comfort Questionnaire (GCQ). The patients in both groups filled in the STAI and GCQ on the first day preoperatively, STAI-S and GCS on the second postoperative day and STAI-S on the tenth day after surgery. P < .05 was accepted as a statistical significance value. Findings: The groups were similar in terms of descriptive features and preoperative anxiety scores (P > .05). Postoperative second and tenth-day anxiety scores were significantly higher in CG (43.97 ± 9.42 and 39.45 ± 3.88) compared to EG (33.29 ± 4.94 and 33.31 ± 3.01) (P < .05). In terms of the mean scores of the GCQ and its subscales of comfort, preoperative comfort was found to be lower than postoperative comfort level (P < .05). Conclusions: Preoperative video-assisted education decreased the anxiety level and increased the comfort level in EG. We conclude that the use of video-assisted education in reducing anxiety and increasing the perception of comfort in breast cancer surgery patients would be beneficial. © 2024 The American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurse

In line with the interests and needs of the children, some outcomes were reconsidered and different integrated activities were included in the plan. Thus, the action plans were finalized with a total of 14 activity plans. The demographic information form, Preschool Social Skills Assessment Scale-OSBEP Teacher Evaluation Form, parent interview form and teacher reflection diary were used as data collection tools. According to the qualitative and quantitative findings obtained as a result of the study, it was concluded that the interactive book reading technique improved the social skills of children in risk groups
Cultural humility among nursing students in a multicultural setting
BACKGROUND: Given the importance of cultural diversity in healthcare, the shift from 'cultural competence' to 'cultural humility' has become crucial. This transition is particularly relevant for nursing students in multiethnic regions, such as Southeastern Anatolia, Turkey, where diverse cultural interactions can significantly impact their professional development and practice. OBJECTIVE: This study was conducted to determine the cultural humility levels of nursing students. METHODS: This descriptive study was carried out with nursing students in two universities in the Southeastern Anatolia region, where the immigrant population is dense, in Turkey. RESULTS: In this study, the total mean score of the Cultural Humility Scale of the students participating in the research was 70.03±16.01. A significant difference was found between the Cultural Humility scale mean scores of the students and their gender, nationality, native language, experience of going abroad, desire to live in another country, and enjoying spending time with people from different cultures (p<0.05). Significant positive correlations were determined between the average scores provided by the students on a 0-10 scale, indicating the importance they placed on cultural diversity in nursing education, and both the total score of the Cultural Humility Scale and the mean score of its sub-dimensions (p<0.01, r=0.273) CONCLUSION: This study found that the cultural humility level of nursing students living and studying with people from various cultures is sometimes exhibited. © 2024 - IOS Press. Modeling the critical barrier factors to hindering sustainable construction: Sampling the Turkish construction industry
Purpose: Considering the construction industry’s vital role in economic development and social consequences, this study seeks to pinpoint critical barriers hindering Turkey’s sustainable construction (SC). Although several studies highlighted the barriers to SC worldwide, none identified the critical factors. By identifying and understanding these barriers, the research aims to comprehensively understand practices and formulate strategic recommendations to promote sustainable construction. Design/methodology/approach: A systematic approach is adopted to achieve the research objectives. The study involves identifying potential barriers to SC with a systematic literature review. A questionnaire was organized and distributed via e-mail to architects, civil engineers, and contractors. The criticality of identified barriers was determined with normalized mean value analysis, and critical barrier factors (CBFs) to SC were isolated with exploratory factor analysis. Finally, the effect size of these factors was quantified through structural equation modeling. Findings: This study identified 32 critical barriers hindering the SC in the Turkish construction industry among 49 barriers. Furthermore, this study revealed six CBFs to SC that are “inadequate supervision and control of SC,” “fear of transition to sustainable construction and disruptions in adoption,” “lack of educational opportunities,” “return on investment and financial bias,” “awareness and knowledge gap about SC,” and “lack of demand from stakeholders.” Among them, “awareness and knowledge gap about SC,” “fear of transition to SC,” “lack of educational opportunities,” “lack of demand from stakeholders,” and “inadequate supervision and control of SC” were determined as the very highly crucial CBFs hindering SC. Originality/value: Although some studies have identified the barriers to SC qualitatively and quantitatively, studies have yet to provide insights into the critical barrier factors hindering SC. Therefore, this study comprehensively and quantitatively determines the relevant CBFs to SC using exploratory factor analysis and utilizes confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling to present a structural model of how critical factors affect the SC. © 2024, Emerald Publishing Limited
Evaluating the effectiveness of a training on ergonomic risks of measuring blood pressure
Background: Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) occur as a result of long-term exposure to inappropriate working postures and repetitive use of body postures, leading to harmful consequences for patients, employees, and employers. Evaluating distinct working postures can contribute to effective interventions. Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine ergonomic risks of MSDs during repeated blood pressure measurement processes and to evaluate the effectiveness of a training on this topic. Methods: A pretest/posttest quasi-experimental design studied 64 nurses in a training and research hospital in Turkey. Participants were evaluated for the prevalence and risk of MSDs using the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire Extended Version and the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) Checklist, and by photographing them performing the procedure. Nurses with high risk for MSDs received an ergonomics training program and were followed up twice in 3 months. Results: Reduction in prevalence of MSDs in neck, shoulder, and hip/thigh areas, and in mean REBA scores after the training were statistically significant. Conclusion: Nurses should be trained about correct posture for specific high-risk activities that may cause MSDs, and offered exercise programs that support the musculoskeletal system
Investigation of the values in relation to positive psychotherapy and acceptance and commitment therapy
Values are beliefs and cognitive structures that guide a person's goals and actions, playing a crucial role in human behavior. Psychotherapy has increasingly focused on understanding the concept of values especially in postmodern approaches. This study aims to explore how values are addressed in positive psychotherapy (PPT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) approaches and their role in interventions. Aligned with the study's objective, both approaches are examined in terms of their perspectives on human nature and values, highlighting both similarities and differences. Emphasizing the significance of value -oriented actions, both approaches facilitate meaningful living. Notably, positive psychotherapy emphasizes fostering positive emotions to enhance overall life quality, while acceptance and commitment therapy encourages aligning life with values despite challenges. Additionally, acceptance and commitment therapy teaches clients skills to address various internal barriers. Compared to positive psychotherapy, acceptance and commitment therapy offers a more holistic approach to these constructs. In this context, mental health professionals should be attentive to helping clients uncover and explore internal barriers tied to their values

On s-clean and s-nıl-clean rıngs
Let A be a commutative ring with identity. An element a G A is said to be S-clean (resp., S-nil-clean), where S ⊂ A is a given multiplicative set, if there exists s ∈ S such that sa is clean (resp.. nil-clean). The ring A is said to be S-clean (resp., S-nil-clcan) if each element of A is S-clean (resp., S-nil-clean). It is clear that every clean (resp., nil-clean) unital ring is S-clean (resp., S-nil-clean) and every homomorphic image of S-clean (resp., S-nil-clean) ring is S'-clean (resp., S'-nil-clean) ring where S' is the homomorphic image of S with 0 ∈ S'. In this manuscript, we investigate the transfer of this notion in amalgamation of rings introduced and studied by D'Anna, Finocchiaro and Fontana [8], in trivial ring extension and in pullback. Our attempt is to provide original and new classes of these rings. © 2024 Jangjeon Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences and Physics. All rights reserved
