Background: Various care bundles have been used with cardiac surgery patients in order to improve recovery by reducing complication rates. Pulmonary complications are frequent in cardiac surgery patients. The number of studies examining care bundles aimed at preventing pulmonary complications is limited. Further studies in this field may support the recovery of patients. Aim: The primary aim of this study was to examine the effect of a pulmonary care bundle (PCB) on the recovery of patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Study Design: In this quasi-experimental study, 103 patients were divided into control and study groups. The control group received standard care. A PCB was administered to the study group by nurses in a Cardiovascular Surgery Clinic in Turkey. The Descriptive Characteristics Data Form, Pulmonary Care Bundle Implementation and Evaluation Form, Respiratory Patterns Follow-up Form and Quality of Recovery Questionnaire-40 were applied to the patients. After data collection, the Quality of Recovery Questionnaire-40 scores and respiratory patterns of the patients in the study and control groups were compared. In addition, the nurses' rate of using the care bundle was examined, and their rate of compliance with the bundle was evaluated. Results: The Quality of Recovery Questionnaire-40 scores of the study group (177.70 ± 10.77) were higher than those of the control group (165.28 ± 15.63) (p < 0.05). The study group's scores for cough and pathologic pulmonary sound were lower than those of the control group. The oxygen saturation level was higher in the study group than in the control group (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The PCB had positive effects on recovery. The respiratory pattern findings were better, and the incidence of respiratory complications was lower in patients who received the care bundle. Relevance to Clinical Practice: The PCB supported the patients' recovery. This care bundle can be used to prevent pulmonary complications. © 2025 The Author(s). Numerical, analytical and experimental thermodynamic analysis of the design of an innovative ring array concentrator solar system with solar furnace containing phase change material

    No full text
The rising demand for reliable and sustainable renewable energy has increased the need for efficient thermal energy storage. This study introduces a novel solar furnace integrated with a Ring Array Concentrator (RAC) system-rarely explored in literature-and investigates high-temperature thermal storage using Phase Change Materials (PCM) through experimental and theoretical methods. Two solar storage units were developed: Model-I with a flat receiver and Model-II with finned cylindrical receiver for enhanced heat transfer. The newly developed RAC system was tested experimentally in the Trabzon province of Turkiye. Instantaneous solar irradiation for the region was also determined analytically. During a 10-hour operating period, Model-I successfully melted 0.7 kg of solar salt and 3.8 kg of Hitec salt. In contrast, the enhanced Model-II system achieved full melting of 18 kg of Hitec salt within 7 h, reaching an average temperature of 455 K. Experimental and numerical results revealed that the RAC system achieved an optical efficiency of 58.8 %, with the receiver efficiency calculated at 64.3 %. The maximum thermal efficiency and exergy efficiency of the solar furnace are determined to be 39 % with a 3.4 % uncertainty and 20 % with a 1.3 % uncertainty, respectively. A strong agreement was observed between experimental measurements and theoretical predictions for both furnace models. This work offers a novel and integrated solar thermal system by combining advanced RAC optics with PCM-based thermal storage, making a significant contribution to sustainable energy technologies through improved heat storage performance, reduced CO2 emissions, and adaptability to varying environmental conditions

    No full text
Background Pregnancy causes physiological changes, including ureteral compression by the enlarged uterus, leading to hydronephrosis in 90% of cases, though only 3% are symptomatic. This study evaluates outcomes in pregnant women with hydronephrosis managed with or without ureteral stenting to define criteria for intervention. Methods A retrospective analysis of 92 symptomatic pregnant women with hydronephrosis diagnosed at MP Hospital (2019-2024) was conducted. Patients were categorized into conservative treatment (Group I) and stenting (Group II). Renal dilation, parenchymal thickness, and infection status were assessed. Results Patients in Group II also had hydronephrosis at earlier gestational weeks (p < .001), and also had more male fetuses (p = .033), lower parenchymal thickness (p < .001), and higher infection rates (p < .001). Conclusion Indicators for stenting in pregnancy-related hydronephrosis include parenchymal thickness <= 20 mm, renal dilation >30 mm, early symptoms, and infections

In this paper, we investigate some properties of S-radical which is a generalization of classical radical. We moreover, determine S-radical of several types of ideals. Then we introduce the notion of strongly S-n-ideals that is an intermediate class between n-ideals and S-n-ideals. We investigate many properties of this class of ideals with illustrative examples. Finally, we obtain some results related to strongly S-n-ideals in amalgamated algebra

“Worship is Not Merely About Form”: Religiously Integrated Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in a Case of Scrupulosity

Treating clients with scrupulosity (religious obsessive–compulsive disorder) requires clinicians to be prepared for various forms of resistance and ambivalence. These individuals may experience hesitation not only during therapy but also when initially seeking help. In particular, concerns about not being fully understood, being misinterpreted, or unintentionally misrepresenting their faith may contribute to hesitation in seeking professional support, especially among individuals with strong religious sensitivity. This case study presents the therapy process and outcomes of a client with scrupulosity, using a cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) approach integrated with religious interventions. In previous attempts to receive treatment, the client had avoided fully disclosing his symptoms due to feeling inadequately understood, perceiving that his concerns were normalized without sufficient exploration, and experiencing discomfort due to concerns about misrepresenting his religiosity. The client was assessed using the Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale (Y-BOCS), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) scales before treatment, after treatment, and at follow-up stages. The results showed significant improvement: his obsessive–compulsive disorder symptoms remained below the clinical threshold at the 9-month follow-up, and his overall functioning increased considerably. To better understand which aspects of the treatment contributed to the observed outcomes, qualitative data were obtained from the client’s responses to an open-ended therapy evaluation form. These responses emphasized the importance of the therapist’s sensitivity to the client’s religious values and the effective use of religious references throughout the therapy process. The case illustrates how a therapeutic approach that respects the client’s faith-based concerns can foster trust, improve treatment engagement, and contribute to both clinical and spiritual well-being

Background and Purpose: Assessment of physiotherapy undergraduate students in clinical placement is academicallyimportant and holds practical value. This study aimed to translate the Assessment of Physiotherapy Practice (APP) tool, whichis widely used for this purpose, into Turkish and to verify the factor validity and examine the reliability of this version using across‐sectional design on senior physiotherapy students. Methods: The APP and performance indicators were translated into Turkish in accordance with the recommended protocol.Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were conducted using scale data from 100 students. For reliability analyses, 10clinical supervisors from a Turkish university assessed 63 students using the Turkish version of the Assessment of Physio-therapy Practice (APP‐TR) tool. Supervisors performed the APP‐TR assessment for each student at week 3 and at the end of the6‐week clinical placement, yielding a score for analysis. Results: In both assessments, the scale demonstrated high levels of internal consistency (Cronbach's α = 0.961 for the firstassessment, 0.959 for final assessment). Two factors were identified by exploratory factor analysis explaining 65.84% of the totalvariance and a two‐factor model was confirmed to fit by confirmatory factor analysis. Test‐retest reliability was assessed by ICCand was high for all subheadings and total score. For all items, the close agreement was at least 98.41% and the exact agreementwas at least 88.89% in the percentile analysis between the two assessments.Discussion: The results of this study suggest that the APP‐TR is a reliable and valid tool for evaluating final year physiotherapystudents in a clinical placement in Turkey

Moderating Role of Quiet Ego in the Relationship Between Psychological Well-Being and State Anxiety in Adolescents

    No full text
Adolescence is a key period for psychological well-being, during which state anxiety poses a significant risk. Emphasizing the development of self-resources is crucial in mitigating such risks. The quiet ego, as a positive self-resource, supports psychological well-being; however, its role in relation to state anxiety has been insufficiently explored in the literature. The current study contributes to literature examining the quiet ego during adolescence and explaining its role in the relationship between psychological well-being and state anxiety. This study was conducted to examine the relationship between adolescents' psychological well-being, state anxiety and the quiet ego levels. The sample of the study carried out in the correlational research model consisted of 1178 adolescents attending 9th-12th grades. The research group was selected through simple random sampling. Data were analyzed using t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), and Hayes' PROCESS macro Model 1. Findings indicate that adolescents' psychological well-being, state anxiety and the quiet ego levels differ significantly based on gender, accessibility of guidance services, number of friends, interest in arts and sports and perceived parental attitudes. State anxiety was moderately negatively associated with psychological well-being, while the quiet ego showed a moderate positive relationship with psychological well-being and a weak negative relationship with state anxiety. Moderating role analysis pointed out that the moderating role of the quiet ego in the relationship between psychological well-being and state anxiety was not significant. The ongoing development of the self during adolescence may have influenced the non-significant moderating effect of the quiet ego. Nonetheless, its associations with psychological well-being and state anxiety suggest that it serves as an alternative self-resource supporting psychological well-being. These findings show that it is important to develop programs that support the development of the quiet ego in preventive mental health practices for adolescents

The Role of Sâkî in the Middle Ages: A Study in the Mamluk State (648-923/1250-1517)

The purpose of this research is to approach the functions of the Sâkî, who played an important role in the political and military life of the Mamluk state, at various levels of the state from a historical perspective. The Role of Sâkî has been accepted as one of the valuable professions that served in the palaces of the kings and the houses of the notables since ancient times. The role of Sâkî, which is defined as a servant who serves his master a drink in a goblet, became a profession with the Abbasids and then began to be seen in the Muslim Turkish States. It has been observed that the role of Sâkî, who started to gain a respected identity during the Turkish kings was in a position very close to the sultan. Indeed, since Muhammad b. Qalawun was his teacher, and the emirs, who were called Nâsırîyye memâliki, were given the degree of regency in the central bureaucracy. The power and influence of the sâkîs, who took part in military campaigns alongside the sultans, varied periodically. In this study, which we examined by examining the works of Egyptian historians that contain valuable information, it is revealed that the role of Sâkî was more prominent with their statesmanship than serving drinks. © 2025, Osman Kose. Are Institutions, Innovation, and Education the Key to Sustainable Growth in G20 Economies?

    No full text
This study aims to examine the fundamental determinants of economic growth in G20 countries in the context of institutional structure, innovation, and education. The significance of the research lies in revealing that sustainable economic growth is shaped not only by traditional macroeconomic factors but also by the effectiveness of institutions, innovation capacity, and human capital investments. The existing literature contains limited studies that comprehensively address the interactions between these three variables and economic growth, specifically in G20 countries. The study applies panel data analysis to G20 countries for the period 2005-2024 and performs panel Granger causality analysis using fixed and random effects models after horizontal section dependence, unit root, and cointegration tests. Empirical findings show that institutions, innovation, and education variables have significant and positive effects on economic growth. Granger causality test results reveal that these variables unidirectionally drive growth, while growth has no feedback effect on these factors. The findings indicate that strengthening institutional reforms, encouraging R&D and innovation investments, and increasing human capital capacity are critical for sustainable and high-quality economic growth for policymakers
