The Mediating Role of Resilience in The Relationship Between Game Addiction and Sleep Disorders in College Students

    No full text
Gaming addiction has attracted the attention of researchers and clinicians as a current and growing problem. Increased gaming addiction can lead to problems such as sleep disorders. The present study aimed to examine the mediating effect of resilience on the relationship between game addiction and sleep disorders in college students. The study was conducted on 320 college students aged between 20 and 27 years. The Internet Gaming Disorder Scale, Brief Resilience Scale, and DSM-5 Sleep Disorders Scale were used as data collection tools. In the analysis of the data, the SPSS package program and the PROCESS macro were used. The results revealed that gaming addiction significantly predicted resilience in a negative direction and sleep disorders in a positive direction. Resilience, in turn, significantly predicted sleep disorders in a negative direction, and it mediated the relationship between gaming addiction and sleep disorders. The findings demonstrated that resilience emerged as a significant process variable linking gaming addiction and sleep-related outcomes, suggesting that lower resilience may partially account for the pathway through which gaming behaviors affect sleep quality

The construction of baths, designed to meet the architectural demands for bathing, health and socialization, dates back to ancient times. The Roman civilization’s adoption of bathing as a cultural practice, combined with advancements in materials and construction technology, facilitated the flourishing of bath architecture during the Roman Period. In this study, the structural bricks (located on the foundation walls of the bath), pilae stacks (brick supports), and pipes (terracotta pipes) used in the structural, heating, and water systems of the Roman (Caracalla) Bath in Ankara were analyzed. This bath, constructed in Ankara during the Roman Caracalla Period in 200 AD, currently functions as an open-air museum, preserving its original remains at the foundation level. The raw material characteristics and sources of these terracotta materials were determined through analytical methods, including Petrographic Thin Section Optical Microscope and PED-XRF Analyses. In this context, the structural bricks were categorized into six groups, the pilae stacks into five groups, and the pipes into two groups. The clay raw materials of all the samples exhibited similar characteristics, with their sources traced to formations around Ankara (specifically the METU forest, Cevizlidere, Yenidoğan area, and Tandoğan). On the other hand, it was observed that the aggregates used in all terracotta sample types originated from local formations in Ankara (specifically andesite aggregate from Hüseyingazi Kale, granite aggregate from Bağla Köprüköy, and metagrovac aggregate from the southern Ankara formation). As a result of these analyses, it was determined that all the terracotta materials were sourced locally, from the immediate vicinity, and were produced within the same period and workshops. In the light of these findings, it is evident that local raw material resources near Ankara were utilized for their ease of access, cost-effectiveness, rapid production, and adaptability to the existing environment in the construction of the baths that fulfilled the need for bathing in Ankara during the Roman period

The ongoing ontological tension between architecture, art, and science is analyzed using semantic tools. This line of analysis addresses the gap in the literature caused by the lack of a systematic and traceable framework for defining the theatrical meaning of the relationship between multiple coding and performative space. The study examines Bernard Tschumi’s Parc de la Villette design from Architecture and Disjunction within the critical framework of Roland Barthes and Bertolt Brecht, and is conducted in the MAXQDA environment. Adopting a qualitative structural narrative analysis methodology and structured around three analytical operations (segmentation–inventory–structuring), the study is validated through interdisciplinary triangulation. At the segmentation phase, Tschumi’s text is divided into 19 meaning units under theoretical nodes based on Brecht’s principles of epic theater. These units were analyzed using closed (deductive) coding with a coding table derived from the literature and developed iteratively to ensure reliability through consensus between the two researchers. During the inventory phase, these meaning units were reinterpreted through open (inductive) coding using Barthes’ five codes, yielding 62 productive terms. During the structuring phase, the distribution and relationships between codes were thematized within the park’s 4 spatial configurations, based on evaluative and inferential layers of meaning

The study aimed to demonstrate the significant impact of quality children's books, prepared with children's interests, needs, and developmental characteristics in the process of character and values education. The study was conducted in two stages. Therefore, the qualitative research methods of document review and thematic content analysis were used together. In the first phase, the preschool picture books in the Rami Library were individually analyzed in terms of character and values education. Their imprint, illustrations, internal and external structural features, and character and values education perspectives were examined. The research population consisted of 2,536 preschool books belonging to the Rami Children's Library. The study's principles were determined by a review of 250 books selected through a thorough evaluation process. The books were selected and analyzed using the "Picture Storybook Evaluation Scale" and the "Picture Children's Books in Terms of Character and Value Education Examining Form," developed by the researcher. The second phase of the study consisted of preschool children aged 4-6, selected from the Eyüpsultan region using convenience sampling. Three books were first read to the children, and the books were evaluated using semi-structured interview questions regarding the characters, the children's preferences, the values in the books, and the characters' character traits. The children's responses were then coded and analyzed. The study concluded that the books examined were suitable for use in character and values education in the preschool period. Furthermore, an analysis of the children's evaluations of the books revealed that they recognized and expressed the values contained in the book, the character traits of the characters, and the themes within. This suggests that carefully written and illustrated picture books are clearly understood and appreciated by preschool children

The observations of eclipsing binary systems are of great importance in astrophysics, as they allow direct measurements of fundamental stellar parameters. By analysing high-quality space-based observations with ground-based photometric data, it becomes possible to detect these fundamental parameters with greater precision using multicolour photometry. Here, we report the first photometric analysis results of the V517 Cam eclipsing binary system by combining the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) light curve and new CCD observations in BVRI filters, obtained with a 60 cm robotic telescope (T60) at the TÜBİTAK National Observatory

    No full text
Gyroid structures exhibit significant potential in the fields of lightweight structural design, heat transfer, energy absorption, and biological applications. The use of gyroid for implants in dentistry is currently not sufficiently widespread. The research encompasses design, compression testing, cellular investigation using a digital microscope, and the application of artificial neural networks (ANNs) using data gained from the compression test. The ANN study and the test phase in which gyroid geometries are addressed by dental three-point bending tests are novel in this field. In the field of dentistry, this study compares the usability of five distinct gyroid design characteristics, including one model without a gyroid structure. During the testing, we found that the m1 model had an average maximum strength of 600 N, while the m3 model achieved 230 N. The remaining models achieved an approximate strength of 200 N. In the mechanical performance evaluation of the samples, a 40% weight reduction was achieved. An ANN model has been developed to predict the force experienced by gyroid structures under certain deformations depending on the infill ratio. This model was trained with data obtained from a three-point bending test. Using grid search and Monte Carlo cross-validation, the optimal multilayer perceptron structure was determined to have 12 neurons in the hidden layer, a mini-batch size of 8, and a learning rate of 0.0001. The Adam optimization algorithm was used to train the ANN model, which was constructed using the TensorFlow library. Evaluation metrics were used to test the model’s performance, and the results showed strong generalization capability and high accuracy with coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.997, mean squared error (MSE) of 3.337E-05 kN2, root mean square error of (RMSE) 0.005777 kN, and mean absolute error (MAE) of 0.003633 kN on the test dataset

The Roman Caracalla Bath was built during the reign of Roman Emperor Caracalla (circa AD 200). Today it exists only in the form of wall remnants at the foundation level and functions as an open-air museum. It is located on a mound approximately 2.5-m high along Ulus’s Çankırı Street in Ankara. This research paper aims to identify the characterization and implications for provenance of the stone materials used in the construction of the bath by using mineralogical, petrographic, and geochemical definitions. The results obtained from the stone materials also provide guidance for restoration and reinforcement of the bath. In this study, the 13 stone and 2 stone tessera materials were examined using petrographic analysis to determine their provenance, along with X-ray fluorescence analysis to identify their chemical composition. The mineralogical composition of each stone shows that the samples can be classified into five subgroups: andesite, limestone, marble, sandstone, and tuff. The andesite was related to Hüseyingazi-Kale and the limestone to the Haymana region, the marble was from Afyon-İscehisar marble quarry (ancient marble quarry), and the sandstone and tuff was related to the village of Memluk Yuva (cetaceous flysch stone). Moreover, the stone tesserae belong to the radiolarite rock group from the village of Elmadağ Irmak. The petrographic results indicate that the stone samples belong to various rock groups, including sedimentary, metamorphic, and volcanic, each reflecting the distinct chemical characteristics of their respective classifications. These findings reveal that the geological formation of the stone materials used at the foundation level of the Roman Caracalla Bath in Ankara corresponds to the surrounding geology of the Ankara region

    Get PDF
The rapid growth of IoT has significantly changed modern technology by allowing devices, systems, and services to connect easily across different areas. Due to the growing popularity of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, attackers focus more and more on finding new methods, ways, and vulnerabilities to penetrate IoT networks. Although IoT devices are utilized across a wide range of domains, the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) holds particular significance due to the sensitive and critical nature of medical information. Consequently, the security of these devices must be treated as a paramount concern within the IoT landscape. In this paper, we propose a novel approach for detecting various intrusion attacks targeting Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) devices, utilizing an enhanced version of the LSTM deep learning algorithm. To evaluate and compare the proposed algorithm with other methods, we used the CICIoMT2024 dataset, which encompasses various types of equipment and corresponding attacks. The results demonstrate that the proposed novel approach achieved an accuracy of 98% for 19 classes, which is remarkably high for classifications and presents a significant and promising outcome for IoMT environments
