Mutual funds are operated by professional money managers, who allocate the fund's assets and attempt to produce capital gains or income for the fund's investors. A mutual fund's portfolio is structured and maintained to match the investment objectives stated in its prospectus. Mutual funds pool money from the investing public and use that money to buy other securities, usually stocks and bonds. The value of the mutual fund company depends on the performance of the securities it decides to buy. These skills are manifold and essentially call for critical comprehension and constructive production in scenarios where information is vast and our capacity for attention, limited. These are also key competencies that seek to energize our voices, enhance our choices, and safeguard us from the concomitant risks of digital security violation and intemperate media brainwashing. The components of Critical, Creative, and Collaborative Inquiry bear a consistent relationship with the Digital and Media Literacy repertoire, and embed themselves readily into the consumption, comprehension and production of various forms of mediated communication. Information literacy is regarded as the basis for learning in our contemporary environment of rapid and sophisticated technological change. As information and communication technologies develop rapidly, and the information environment becomes increasingly complex, educators are recognizing the needs for learners to engage with the information environment as part of their formal learning processes. The achievement of lifelong learning and making citizens become information literate is the target of many nations as far as millennium development goals and vision 2015 are concerned. This paper presents a literature review on information literacy and lifelong learning pointing out the relationship between the two and their benefits, and finally, Information Literacy is capable of serving as the catalyst for effective lifelong learning of people all over the world. For success in all initiatives towards Lifelong Learning, Information Literacy Instruction is the key.Â
Education and Women Equality: The Need of Hour

Educating females and males produces similar increases in their subsequent earnings and expands future opportunities and choices for both boys and girls. However, educating girls produces many additional socio-economic gains that benefit entire societies. These benefits include increased economic productivity, higher family incomes, delayed marriages, reduced fertility rates and improved health and survival rates for infants and children. Over the years, education has focussed on access and parity—that is, closing the enrolment gap between girls and boys—while insufficient has been paid to retention and achievement or the quality and relevance of education. Providing a quality, relevant education leads to improved enrolment and retention, but also helps to ensure that boys and girls are able to fully realize the benefits of education. The primary focus on girls’ access to education may overlook boys’ educational needs. This approach also fails to confront the norms and behaviours that perpetuate inequality. This paper presents a framework that has been designed to address the inequality described above. A tool for education programmers, the framework helps ensure that education projects meet the needs of all learners. Using an approach that takes into account the relations and interaction between males and females, the Gender Equality Framework addresses four dimensions of equality in education. These are: equality of access, equality in the learning process, equality of educational outcomes and equality of external results. Sections of each of the four dimensions include concrete activities that can be implemented as a part of an overall strategy to achieve gender equality in education

With a wide range of social evils from crime against women, animals and children to dowry deaths, terrorism and environmental haphazard mushrooming before us, it’s the need of the hour that we stop and seek guidance from our great texts and Rishis. The ideas and thoughts of the great Vedas and Upanishads are bound to be beneficial for one and all because one indeed is all and all indeed is one- Sarvam Khalu Idam Brahman!! Thus, across races, nationalities and religions this knowledge will only act as a unifying force. It will bring about mutual respect and elevate us mentally, emotionally, spiritually and ethically. A Study on Teaching Skill of Secondary School teachers in Relation to Their Professional Qualification
Get PDFAbstract : The present study tried to find out the professional teaching skill of secondary school teachers in relation to their professional qualification . The sample was collected through purposive sampling and it includes 100 secondary school teachers of South 24 Parganas ,West Bengal . A standardized scale i.e. General Teaching Competency Scale (GTCS) developed by B.K. Passi and M.S.Lalitha (2011) was administered in this study for collecting data . Descriptive statistics and Inferential statistics were used in this study for analyzing the data. The study showed that there is no any significant difference between trained teachers and untrained teachers in regard to presentation, closing and evaluation skill of teaching competency but there is a significant difference between trained and untrained teachers in regard to planning and managerial skill of teaching competency

Comparative study (I): On the longevity/ageing of pupa and adult moths in selected few multivoltine purelines of silkworm Bombyx mori (L) in all the seasons of the year.
Get PDFA comparative study utilizing the six multivoltines, in three seasons of the year between pupal and adult moth stage of silkworm of reveals a positive significance. Pupal duration was calculated after chrysalis stage among six multivoltines clearly indicated that the duration of pupae in the pre race is lowest where as the Daizo race exhibited the longest pupal duration of 240 hours. Silkworm adult life span evaluated in three seasons in the two sexes (male moth and female moth) it is clear that race pre exhibited shortest adult life span of 84 hours in mated males and 114 hours in mated females during pre-monsoon period and Daizo race revealed prolonged adult life span 222 hours in unmated males and 242 hours in unmated females during post-monsoon period.In the present studies among the two sexes, the unmated (virgin) male and females moths exhibited the longest life span than those of mated male and female moths. The influence of three seasons on adult life span is very clear from the experiment. The effect of pre-monsoon is more conspicuous (revealing short lifespan) where as in post-monsoon season lifespan is longest both in the pupal and adult.The results obtained from the present studies clearly demonstrate that racial differences, seasonal impact and sex wise differences are important in the expression of adult longevit
