Reflection of Medieval Assamese society in Ankia Bhaona: A Study
The influence of society is an important feature in Ankiya Bhaona. While propagating Vaishnava religion, Sankardeva was greatly influenced by contemporary society. The impact of various phenomena of society is quite natural in Bhaona while it was an attempt to transmit in a useful way for all people. At that time, various elements of social, religious traditions, caste, culture, etc. were seen in Ankiya Bhaona. According to the pace of society, Bhaona's changes started to increase. At first, the Ankiya Nat was created to propagate Vaishnavism, but later it was converted into a medium of entertainment. When Bhaona received the royal sponsorship, the spirituality of Bhaona was reduced and began to appear new elements in the performance. This paper is a humble attempt to test the impact of society in Bhaona performance. Keywords: Satra, Bhaona,Sankardev,Ankiya Nat, Assam.Â

Correlates of the Learning Engagement in Mathematics of Grade 10 Science, Technology and Engineering (STE) Students
The purpose of this study was to determine the factors correlated to the learning engagement in Mathematics of the Grade 10 Science, Technology and Engineering (STE) Students. To determine the learning engagement, the researcher utilized the descriptive-correlational method of research using the modified Mathematics Classroom Engagement Scale developed by Qi-Ping Kong, Ngai-Ying Wong, and Chi-Chung Lam administered to the 35 Grade 10 STE students. Statistical tools such as the mean, standard deviation, and Pearson r were used to answer the problems of the study. Results show that the level of cognitive and affective learning engagement in mathematics of the students was high while their behavioral engagement was only average. Results also reflected that none of the factors is significantly correlated to the cognitive engagement of the students in Mathematics. However, students’ attitude towards mathematics and their self-efficacy in the subject are significantly and moderately correlated to their affective engagement. Moreover, study habits, self-esteem, attitude towards mathematics, self-efficacy, and teachers’ competence are significantly and moderately correlated to the students’ behavioral engagement. On the other hand, all factors except the physical learning environment are significantly correlated to the overall learning engagement in mathematics of the students. The study concluded that the STE students are engaged cognitively and affectively in their mathematics class. Likewise, it is concluded that students who have better study habits, higher self-esteem and self-efficacy, more favorable attitude towards mathematics, and those who have competent teachers have high learning engagement in mathematics
SOCIO - ECONOMIC STATUS OF TEA GARDEN WOMEN WORKERS: A CASE STUDY
The tea industry is a highly labour intensive industry. Besides the tea industry, a large number of workers are employed by the subsidiary and ancillary industries. Workers are employed on a family based, and the most significant feature of the tea industry is that almost fifty percent of its workers are women. However, it is a pity that although women workers play a very important role in the tea industry, very little is known about them in the world outside. They are portrayed as a deprived lot, unabashedly exploited by their employers, society and family members. Before the Equal Remunerations Act 1976, women were paid lower wages than men. In 1990 after the Act was implemented in its full content they are being paid equal wages as men. Unfortunately, discrimination against women is still visible. Women workers do not receive subsidised ration or medical benefits for their dependants. In some gardens, even pregnant women do heavy jobs, leading to medical complications during childbirth. A female worker is still treated as inferior While male members relax, drink and enjoy themselves after working hours, the female members are left to do the house-hold chores all by themselves. They are significant contributors to the industry as well as to their household. Situating this dynamics of women losing out in employment on the one hand and their increasing role in the industry and household on the other, this paper provides an account of their negotiations at multiple spheres of work and life. The paper through case studies establishes across various contexts that women have negotiated and emerged from the contours of power and authority and their own spaces at work and the household
