Peripherally and non-peripherally carboxylic acid substituted Cu(ii) phthalocyanine/reduced graphene oxide nanohybrids for hydrogen evolution reaction catalysts

    No full text
Due to growing environmental concerns and increasing energy needs, hydrogen, one of the key options as a future energy carrier, has lately gained more interest. In this study, we have reported nanohybrid electrocatalyst materials based on peripherally and non-peripherally carboxylic acid substituted copper phthalocyanines (CuPcs) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) constructed via pi-pi interactions between CuPcs and rGO. Prepared nanocomposites were coated onto the surface of a glassy carbon electrode and their electrocatalytic activity for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) was studied. Structural, electrochemical, and surface morphological properties of the produced electrodes were investigated using Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) and Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analyses. Electrochemical measurements indicated that the peripherally substituted rGO/CuPc electrodes have more efficiency and activity compared to the non-peripherally substituted ones. In addition, the EIS results show that peripherally carboxylic substituted rGO/CuPc electrodes become more conductive due to the position and content of the carboxyl groups. This increasing performance of the HER implied by a smaller impedance together with more facile electron transfer kinetics indicates a pronounced enhancement of the electrocatalytic hydrogen activity of peripherally carboxylic substituted rGO/CuPc electrodes.Research Fund of the Istanbul Technical University [42019]The authors thank Dr. M. No full text
The prospect applications of results and techniques of Petri-net and fuzzy-Petri-net formalisms is surveyed from the points of view of Systems Science and Engineering via discrete-event Markov processes and systemic structures, which are pertinent to applications in Robotized Manufacturing Engineering. The stand point of this analysis is the one of Control and Decision Sciences, and the general mathematical language utilized is the compound one consisted of directed graphs, Markov sequences, and set operations. The concepts of event-driven and time-driven sequences, being both real-world phenomena and mathematical objects, are found to be rather instrumental for development of representation models as well as control and communication algorithms that enable system design analysis with regard to higher, task-oriented decision and control level. Exposition on operating robotic and flexible manufacturing systems, via typical case-studies, follows an overview on the very concept of a system in general based on the system triple-paradigm comprising a conceptual and a representation model as well as real-world object these are aimed to mimic. A brief appropriate overview on Petri-net formalism and a similar overview on the feasible synergies of fuzzy-systems and Petri-nets are given. The resulting model representations and task-control algorithms based on case-study plants in robotized flexible manufacturing systems provide relevant illustrations. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG

22nd International Symposium for Production Research, ISPR 2022 -- 6 October 2022 through 8 October 2022 -- Antalya -- 291539In order to ensure the uninterrupted continuity of their activities, businesses have to keep certain levels of inventory in market conditions that cannot be precisely measured and easily predicted, such as uncertainty in demands and lead times, fluctuations in prices. Inventory for health businesses that produce health service output as a result of business activities; means materials that must be kept for examination, treatment and diagnosis and that directly affect human health. For this reason, the management of medical inventory is very important both for human health and for the financial continuity of hospitals. In this study, which explains the inadequacy of the current medical consumable inventory control method used in the operating room unit of the hospital, which is the subject of the study, by using simulation and optimization techniques, and saving inventory costs by designing alternative inventory control models to the current situation; first of all, the current medical consumable inventory of the operating room were examined by ABC-VED analysis. Then, the new inventory control model, which was created using the (s,S) inventory control policy, in order to be an alternative to the existing inventory control management and current inventory control management of the operating room, was modeled using the stochastic modeling approach in the Arena Simulation package program, using real life data from the hospital. The simulation model is run for both inventory control models and the inventory costs of the materials are calculated for both inventory control models. In the last part of the application, the (s,S) inventory control model, which was designed as an alternative to the current situation, was optimized for the selected materials using the OptQuest optimization tool in the Arena Simulation program. As a result of the optimization, the minimum, maximum and reorder point parameters of the materials used in the study were re-determined to optimize the inventory cost of the materials. By using the optimized inventory parameters (s,S), the inventory control model was run again and the inventory costs of the selected materials were calculated for the third and final time. Finally, the outputs of the three inventory control models were analyzed and it was concluded that the lowest inventory cost value with a confidence level of 95% was achieved by using the optimized (s,S) inventory control model and the current inventory control method of the operating room was insufficient in terms of cost. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG

    Non-Integer Order Generalized Filters Designs

    No full text
Non-integer order filters can be derived from a generalized structure presented in this work. More specifically, fractional-order and power-law filters of single- or double-order are special cases of non-integer order filters with three degrees of freedom and can be implemented using a Current Feedback Operational Amplifier as the active element. The transfer function is formed as a ratio of two impedances which can be synthesized using Foster or Cauer RC networks. A curve-fitting based technique is employed for approximating the magnitude and phase of each impedance. The behavior of the presented structures is evaluated through simulation results, using the OrCAD design suite and, also, through experimental results.HEAL-LinkThis work was supported by HEAL-Link

There is no nameless human being. The name accompanies a person from birth to death and is a part of him. So much so that even if the person is dead, he continues to live in the psyches of those who are left behind, through his being that represents him. There are ways to commemorate the deceased, but his name reveals itself first of all its other values. They continue to live on the lost. These losses can be through actual death as well as losses in life. The end of a daily life cycle, the loss of an item, or the end of a relationship. It is known that when there is talk of loss, there is a mourning. Although the loss of mourning is an indispensable process to symbolize, this process cannot be always along and on the road. As soon as the unmourned losses are gone. They will take on new disguises, wander past the owner, maintain their vitality until the separation takes place. Even if the mourning period is successful, it creates a replacement for what a person has lost. This is about the transition of spirituality. The place of loss can be an inanimate object or a living person. An example of this is the naming of a person who has died through death. This substitution, known as the replacement child phenomenon, was interviewed with three people aged 28-30, named after the deceased. There the replacement offspring is commissioned in some way by the person who gave it that name is considered. In order to understand how the experience of being a substitute child perceives the lifestyle, questions were asked to the data about loss and how people perceive it. In the analysis of the data, the Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis method was used. As a result, four main themes were reached: "Self-Perception", "Narratives about the Deceased", "Making Meaning of the Experience of Carrying the Name of the Deceased Family Elder", Replacement Child Relationships". The obtained values have been discussed among themselves and in the psychoanalytic literature. As a result, bearing the deceased person's name was thought to contain his personality within a framework

Effect of linear density on the mechanical properties of 3D spacer composites with improved manufacturing quality

    No full text
The innovative 3D weaving method allows I-beams to be woven in one piece and promises to eliminate delamination failure with the interlacing yarns. Therefore, woven I-beam composites have been developed to improve the resistance of laminated I-beam composite structures against delamination. In this study, woven Ibeam fabrics (IBFs) were produced by the 3D weaving method by using 300, 600, and 1200 TEX E-glass fibers with a custom-built weaving machine. Then, IBFs were made into woven I-beam composites (IBCs) using the vacuum infusion method (VIP) to examine the influence of linear density on the mechanical properties of IBCs. The results of the three-point bending test represent that 300 TEX, 600 TEX (warp density: 20 ends/cm), 600 TEX (warp density: 12 ends/cm), and 1200 TEX samples had an average maximum flexural stress of 8.6, 9.2, 8.5, and 8.8 MPa, respectively. The compression strengths for 300 TEX, 600 TEX (warp density: 20 ends/cm), 600 TEX (warp density: 12 ends/cm), and 1200 TEX were 2.6 MPa, 3.8 MPa, 2.9 MPa, and 4.1 MPa, respectively.Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) [218M703, 218M704]; ITU BAP project [40738]This study was funded by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK; project number 218M703 (218M704)), 1003 Primary Subjects R & D Funding Program, and ITU BAP project number: 40738. New AB3-type porphyrins with piperidine and morpholine motifs; synthesis and photo-physicochemical and biological properties

    No full text
In this study, new unsymmetrical meso-tetraaryl AB(3)-type porphyrins 1 and 2 were successfully synthesized by the reaction of p-bromobenzaldehyde and p-hydroxybenzaldehyde with pyrrole in propionic acid. AB(3)-type porphyrin building blocks with hydroxyl functionality (1 and 2) were further used to generate both covalently linked metal free and Zn(II) porphyrins 3-6 having piperidine and morpholine heterocyclic units. These novel compounds were characterized by using H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR, FT-IR and MALDI-TOF spectrophotometry. The photophysical and photochemical properties of compounds 1-6 were investigated by employing UV-vis absorption and fluorescence emission spectroscopy in tetrahydrofuran (THF). From the view of biological properties, the antioxidant capacities of porphyrins were determined by using DPPH radical scavenging activity and 2 was determined as the most potent porphyrin analog with a value of 98.42% at 200 mg L-1. All the targeted compounds displayed significant DNA nuclease activity. In addition, the antimicrobial potential of compounds 1-6 was also investigated by a micro-dilution process and 2 was found to be the most effective candidate against the tested microbial strains. The newly synthesized porphyrins also showed 100% microbial cell viability inhibition against E. coli at all examined concentrations. In terms of biofilm inhibition activity, the best results for the maximum photodynamic antimicrobial biofilm inhibition of S. aureus and P. aeruginosa were obtained by compound 2 with the values of 99.75% and 93.39%, respectively
