Holy Spirit as Perfector of Koinonia : A Theological Account of Ecclesiology
No full textIn this session, we will examine the work of the Holy Spirit as the divine agent who constitutes the Church of Jesus Christ towards its goal of koinonia. By considering the work of Basil of Caesarea, we will establish the Holy Spirit as the perfecting cause of the Triune God’s work of creation and redemption. Through scriptures and Church tradition, we will learn that one aspect of the Holy Spirit’s role is to continue Jesus Christ’s work of establishing a new community; a community which reflects the divine koinonia of the Triune God. This way, the Holy Spirit is actively working in creation to bring about koinonia between God and humanity, and between humanity itself.
