Adsorption of textile wastewater containing triple dye on the garden soil: optimisation and modelling by Taguchi method
The textile industry is a sector that should be taken into account in terms of environmental pollution. There is excessive water consumption and there are different pollutants in the wastewater besides dyes. The adsorption to the garden soil of textile wastewater containing three different Astrazon dyes was investigated in terms of the following parameters; dye concentration, different dye content, salt concentration, temperature, pH, contact time, adsorbent dosage. It was observed that the parameters had different effects on organic matter and colour removal. Under optimum conditions, an organic matter removal of over 86% and colour removal of 100% were achieved. Moreover, the operating parameters’ relationship with ORP was evaluated and from the results of FTIR analysis, it was concluded that Astrazon dyes were very stable. The fact that organic matter removal was lower than colour removal shows that mineralisation is difficult. Textile dyes can be successfully removed by adsorption using the soil, which does not require chemical use except pH adjustment, which is a simple system and easy to operate. This study also shows that if textile wastewater is to be consciously or unconsciously discharged to the soil without treatment, a large percentage of the dyes in textile wastewater will be adsorbed by the soil and cause soil pollution. Since the environmental system is in a cycle, soil pollution means surface/groundwater pollution and hindrance for plant growth. For this reason, textile wastewater that contains toxic and stable pollutants should not be discharged without treatment
Comparative analysis of normalization techniques in the context of MCDM problems
Normalization is an essential step in data analysis and for MCDM
methods. This study aims to outline the positive and negative features of the
normalization techniques that can be used in MCDM problems. In order to
compare the different normalization techniques, fourteen sets representing
different scenarios of decision problems were used. According to the results, if
the decision-maker chooses to take the alternative with the highest value in
the criteria and avoid the one with the lowest value, or vice versa,
optimization-based normalization techniques should be preferred, whereas
the reference-based normalization techniques are considered appropriate for
situations where there are ideal values determined by the decision-maker for
each criterion. However, if the decision-maker believes that the values in the
criteria do not represent the monotonous increasing or decreasing
benefit/cost, then non-linear normalization techniques should be used. Also, in
the event of a change in the conditions mentioned above, the decision maker
may opt for mixed normalization techniques. However, some data structures,
such as the presence of zero, and negative values in the decision matrix, can
prevent the use of some normalization techniques. The choice of the
normalization technique may also be affected by the problem of rank reversal,
the range of normalized values, obtaining the same optimization aspect for all
criteria, and the validity of results
Studies on Qasīdah Hamziyyah
Câhiliye döneminden itibaren Arap şiirinde en çok işlenen konulardan biri olan medih teması
İslâm’la beraber mahiyet değiştirmiştir. Peygamber medihleri olarak şöhret bulan bu şiirleri klasik şiirde
işlenen medih temasından ayıran en önemli hususlar; şiirin bu türünün dünyalık bir çıkar beklentisi
olmadan dini saikle kaleme alınması, samimi duygularla icra edilmesi ve dini müdafaa gibi kutsal gayeler
edinmesidir. Peygamber medihleri alanında en bilinen şairlerden biri olan Muhammed b. Said el-Bûsîrî’nin
(ö. 695/1296 [?]) el-Kasîdetü’l-Hemziyye olarak bilinen Ümmü’l-kurâ fî medhi hayri’l-verâ adlı kasidesi Arap
edebiyatında önemli bir yere sahiptir. 456 beyitten oluşan ve Bûsîrî’nin en uzun kasidesi olan bu manzum
eser, şöhret olarak Bürde’nin gölgesinde kalmış olsa da konusu ve edebî sanatları kullanma maharetiyle
büyük ilgi görmüştür. Ancak eserle ilgili günümüzde az sayıda çalışma yapılmıştır. Bunun sebeplerinden
birisi tanınırlığının düşük olmasıdır. Bu makalede Kasîde-i Hemziyye’nin özellikleri üzerinde durulmuş,
eser arûz-kâfiye açısından tahlil edilmiş ve çeviri-özet mahiyetinde muhtevası incelenmiştir. Ayrıca
nazmedildiği günden günümüze kadar eser üzerine yapılan çalışmalar tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır
Gamochaeta coarctata: Türkiye için yeni bir yabancı bitki kaydı
Asteraceae is the largest plant family in Turkey and represented by 138 genera and 1336 species in
Turkey. In this paper, Gamochaeta coarctata (Willd.) Kerguélen (Asteraceae) which is native in
South America, is reported for the first time as a new alien species for Turkey (İstanbul). The plant
was noticed, in a population of more than 250 individuals on the side of walking path in May 2021.
In order to identify this unfamiliar plant, a sample was taken from the plant and its photographs
were taken. When researched, it was seen that the plant is not included in the Flora of Turkey and
with the literature review, the plant was identified as Gamochaeta coarctata which a new alien
species for Turkey. In order to determine the area distribution of the plant, it was wandered around
the land and it was observed that the plant became established on the edges of the walking paths
on different routes, on the forest edge and in the meadow by the dam lake. In this paper, the
species was introduced with taxonomical and morphological features. Its ecological impact was
evaluated with potential risks also. The species can be considered in Turkey as an alien species and
have a rapid expansion potential, but further field investigations on this species are necessary to
avoid its diffusion
The importance of foreign direct ınvestments in turkey’s export: a new strategy for low and medium tech firms
This research investigates the relationship between Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and export operated by low-, medium low-, and medium high-tech firms in Turkey. For this purpose, a hidden cointegration approach developed by Hatemi and Iraoundaoust Hidden cointegration is conducted on data covering the period between 2006:Q1 and 2018:Q3. According to Hatemi and Irandoust (Asymmetric interaction between government spending and terms of trade volatility. Journal of Economic Studies 39(3):368–378, 2012), hidden cointegration, there is no long-run relationship between the cumulative positive shocks of Low Tech Export (LTX) and cumulative positive shocks of FDI; the same existence is obtained for the cumulative negative shock between the variables. The outcomes identify that LTX and FDI respond to shocks differently in Turkey. Moreover, the same results were found for Medium Low-Tech Export (MLTE) and FDI. In another saying, a positive and negative shock in MLTX does not proceed with positive and negative shocks in FDI. Nonetheless, a long-run relationship between Medium High-Tech Export (MHTE) and FDI concerning both the positive and negative cumulative shocks is also found. A positive shock in MHTX is associated with the influence of positive in FDI. Furthermore, a negative shock in MHTX is also linked to the impacts of negative in FDI. Thus, it is recommended that Companies and governments manage cooperatively with foreign investors, sustain and create locational advantages, and implement policies that lower costs because low and medium low-tech export plays a ruling role in export performance

Success of the clustering studies is related with the compatibility of the data to the selected algorithm and the appropriateness of the adopted approaches to the application of the algorithm to the data. An etnobotanic research on plants used in handicraft in Adıyaman
Bu çalışmada, Adıyaman ilinde yapılan etnobotanik araştırmalar kapsamında halk arasında el
sanatlarında kullanılan bitkiler araştırılmıştır. Çalışmada halkın mutfak eşyası, sepet, nazarlık, süpürge,
oyuncak vb. çeşitli el sanatlarında yararlandığı bitkiler belirlenerek bu bitkilerin kullanım şekilleri ortaya
konmuştur. Çalışma; Adıyaman merkez ve merkeze bağlı 8 ilçe ile bu ilçelerdeki 30 yerleşim biriminde
gerçekleştirilmiştir. Ayrıca bölgede kurulan 3 yerel pazarda araştırma yapılmıştır. Araştırmalar
sonucunda 25 familyaya ait toplam 39 taksonun yörede el sanatlarında kullanıldığı tespit edilmiştir. En
çok kullanımın olduğu ilk 5 familya; Betulaceae (14), Platanaceae (11), Salicaceae (10), Fagaceae (9) ve
Poaceae (8). En çok yararlanılan ilk 5 takson ise; Platanus orientalis (11), Juglans reyi (10), Carpinus
orientalis(9), Quercus infectoria (7) ve Phragmites australis(7) şeklindedir. Bitkilerin en çok dal ve gövde
kısımlarından yararlanılmaktadır. Bunları çoktan aza doğru; meyve, yaprak, çiçek, tohum ve mazı takip
etmektedir. Bitkilerden; 27 mobilya/ahşap malzemesi (beşik, baston vb.), 17 mutfak eşyası (kaşık, kepçe
vb.), 9 adet süs, nazarlık ve tesbih vb., 7 adet hayvan barınağı (arı kovanı, kafes vb.), 6 adet oyun ve
oyuncak, 5 adet yapı ve çit malzemesi, 5 adet müzik aleti, 5 adet ip/halat vb., 3 adet sepet/hasır, 3 adet
süpürge ve 3 adet boya yapımında yararlanıldığı tespit edilmiştir. Merdane yapımında kullanılan
Fraxinus angustifolia subsp. syriaca ve Süpürge yapımında kullanılan Scrophularia canina subsp.
bicolor’ın kullanımını ilk defa bu çalışma ile ortaya konmuştur.In this study, the plants used in handicrafts among the people in Adıyaman were investigated. The
plants that the people used in various handicrafts such as kitchen items, basket, amulet, broom and
toys were determined and the usage patterns of these plants were revealed. The study was carried
out in Adıyaman center and 8 districts and 30 settlements connected to them. In addition, research
was conducted in local markets established in the region. As a result of the research, it was
determined that a total of 39 taxa belonging to 25 families were used in handicrafts in the region. The
first 5 families with the most use; Betulaceae (14), Platanaceae (11), Salicaceae (10), Fagaceae (9) and
Poaceae (8). The most used 5 taxa are; Platanus orientalis (11), Juglans regia (10), Carpinus orientalis
(9), Quercus infectoria (7) and Phragmites australis (7). The branches and trunk parts of the plants are
mostly used. These are from many to less; followed by fruit, leaves, flowers, seeds and gall. From
plants; 27 furniture / wooden items (cradle, walking stick, etc.), 17 kitchen items (spoon, ladle, etc.),
9 ornaments, amulets and rosaries etc., 7 animal shelters (beehives, cages etc.), 6 games and toys, 5
building and fence materials, 5 musical instruments, 5 ropes etc., 3 baskets/wicker, 3 brooms and 3
paints. The use of Fraxinus angustifolia subsp. syriaca used in roller production and Scrophularia
canina subsp. bicolor used in broom production were revealed for the first time with this study
Akdeniz un güvesi Ephestia kuehniella (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae)’nın biyolojik kontrolünde entomopatojenler
Mediterranean flour moth Ephestia kuehniella (Zeller, Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) is one of the most
important insect pests that invade the stored grain of many grains around the world. Chemical control
is a very preferred method in the fight of this pest. However, due to the economic, social and
environmental damages of chemicals, the interest in biological control, which is an alternative method,
is gradually increasing. Entomopathogens have very important in biological control and that cause
desired infections in pests. Entomopathogens include many species such as viruses, bacteria, protists,
fungi and nematodes. In recent years, entomopathogeic nematodes; Steinernema feltiae, Steinernema
carpocapsae, Steinernema riobrave, Heterorhabditis bacteriophora, Heterorhabditis sp., Steinernema
sp., and Xenorhabdus nematophila, entomopathogenic fungi; Paecilomyces fumosoroseus (=Isaria
fumosorosea), Beuveria bassiana and Metarhizium anisopliae, entomopathogenic bacteria; Bacillus
thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki, Photorhabdus temperata and Bacillus subtilis, entomopathogenic
protists; Vairimorpha ephestiae, Leidyana ephestiae, Mattesia dispora and Mattesia oryzaephili, and
virus; Nuclear Polyhedrosis Virus (NPV) were reported from E.kuehniella. In this review, it is aimed to

Kentlerde, trafik, sanayi ve eğlence gibi çeşitli faaliyetlerden oluşan çevresel gürültü önemli çevre sorunlarından birisi olmuştur.
Gelişmiş ülkelerdeki sağlık sorunları sıralamasında kara, hava ve demiryollarındaki trafikten kaynaklanan gürültü ikinci sırada yer
almaktadır. Trafikten kaynaklanan gürültünün, insan sağlığı üzerinde negatif etkileri bulunmaktadır. Yüksek nüfus yoğunluğu olan
yaşam alanları trafikten kaynaklı gürültü maruziyetlerinin oluştuğu bölgelerdir. Kentlerdeki gürültü alanlarını belirlemek ve
yaşanabilir kentler oluşturmak için stratejik gürültü haritaları hazırlanmaktadır. Böylece, çevresel gürültü ile ilgili sorunlar
belirlenmekte ve gerekli kontrol tedbirleri alınabilmektedir. Bu çalışmada, Gaziantep’te nüfus yoğunluğu yüksek olan bölgelerde
karayolu trafiğinden kaynaklanan stratejik gürültü haritaları trafik sayımları ve simülasyon programı ile oluşturulmuştur. Çalışma
kapsamında 161 km'si ana karayolu olmak üzere toplam 193 km karayolu modellenmiş ve 33 yol kesitinde araç sayımı yapılmıştır.
Elde edilen simülasyon verileri ile gündüz, akşam ve gece için stratejik gürültü haritaları hazırlanmıştır. Daha sonra, karayolu
trafiğinden kaynaklanan gürültü sınır değerlerini aşan bölgelerdeki nüfus oranları hesaplanmıştır. Buna göre; Gaziantep nüfusunun
% 5,4’ü gündüzleri, % 8,2’si akşamları ve % 7,5’i geceleri belirlenen kritik seviyelerin üzerinde karayolu kaynaklı gürültü seviyelerine
maruz kalmaktadır. Hassas bölgeler olan 201 okul ve 95 hastane bu gürültü alanlarında bulunmakta ve karayolu kaynaklı gürültü
seviyelerine maruz kalmaktadır.Environmental noise from traffic, industry and entertainment in cities has been one of the important environmental problems. In
developed countries, noise from highways, airways and railways are the second major health problem. Traffic noise has negative
effects on human health. The traffic noise exposes are occurring in the high populated living areas. Strategic noise maps are prepared
to identify these noise areas in cities and to create liveable cities. Thus, problems related to environmental noise are identified and
necessary control measures can be taken. In this study, strategic noise maps arising from the road traffic in Gaziantep with high
population density were created with traffic counts and simulation program. Within the scope of the study, a total of 193 km of
highways, 161 km of which are main roads, were modelled and vehicle counts were made on 33 road sections. Strategic noise maps
were prepared for daytime, evening and night with the obtained simulation data. Then, the population ratios in the regions exceeding
the noise limit values caused by road traffic were calculated. According to this; 5.4% of the population of Gaziantep is exposed to
traffic noise levels above the critical levels determined during the day, 8.2% in the evening and 7.5% at night. Sensitive areas, 201
schools and 95 hospitals, are located in these noise areas and are exposed to traffic noise levels
Reading outcomes of students with intellectual disability on statewide assessments
Education laws in the U.S. hold schools accountable for including students with intellectual disability
on statewide reading assessments. Students with intellectual disability have been taking general or
alternate reading assessments over the past two decades. However, very little attention has been
given to the results of these assessments. The purpose of this study was to examine reading outcomes of students with intellectual disability on statewide general and alternate assessments in a
Midwestern state in the U.S. We also examined whether students with intellectual disability’s reading
outcomes varied across traditional and innovative school types. Results from descriptive analyses
showed that a very low percentage of students with intellectual disability performed at the proficient
level or above on 5th and 8th grades reading assessments. Also, students with intellectual disability’s
reading proficiency levels did not significantly differ across school types. Implications of these results
are discussed and recommendations for future research are provide
