An empirical analysis of abnormal returns and trading volume : the case of tender offers in Japan
Get PDFapplication/pdf論文(Article)The Financial Instruments and Exchange Law was amended in terms of the regulations of take offers in 2006. Because of the financial crisis which broke out in 2008, the reorganizations were carried out for the management rebuilding by the managers. Given this background, we need to rediscover the market reaction after the announcement of tender offer. In this study we analyze the abnormal returns and abnormal trading volume for a sample of 226 tender offers in TSE First Section over the period 2008-2012. The results reveal the differences in the abnormal returns and abnormal trading volume between bidder firms and target firms. We found statistically positive abnormal returns in bidder firms, target firms and repurchasing firms after the announcement of take offer. When tender offers are announced, the abnormal returns of bidder firms and repurchasing firms have already begun to increase. The abnormal trading volume of repurchasing firms was found statistically negative.departmental bulletin pape

An overview of the economy of Minamiosumi town
Get PDFapplication/pdf論文(Article)Minamiosumi is the southernmost town in Honshu islands of Japan, located in the edge of Osumi
Peninsula of Kyushu Island. Being far remote from urban area, Minamiosumi has suffered from
severe depopulation for over half century. Although this town is one of the typical examples for
the regional study on the endogenous development of rural and isolated economy, few reports on
this topic have been published. Using some public statistics such as the national census, the regional
accounts and some agricultural statistics, this paper argues some issues on the regional
development, such as the depopulation of the peripherals during the economic development of
the whole country, the relationship between depopulation and income gap among regions, the
relation between the regional industry structure and the comparative labor productivity of industries,

Field practica experience and personal goals of social work students : a study on students of a master of social work program in the US
Get PDFapplication/pdf成人教育モデルの中核には、自分の成長や学びに関し内的に動機づけられるというイメージがある。個々の学生は自分自身の個人的な目標を持っている。本稿では、社会福祉を学ぶ大学院生の実習経験が、各自の個人的目標の達成にどう関連するかについて検討する。また、実習が成功するために役立つ要因についても検討する。その際、アメリカのあるソーシャルワーク修士課程の学生に対し行なった調査から得られた31名の自由記述を用いる。分析の結果、個人的目標の達成に関連する実習経験は、直接的援助の技術の学習、間接的援助の技術の学習、授業で得た技術の実践、現実の多様性に関する学習などを含む８つのカテゴリーに分類された。また､実習の成功に役立つ要因は､スーパーバイザー、自分自身の態度、以前の経験、実習前準備などを含む９つのカテゴリーに分類された。これらを提示した後、カテゴリー間の差異や特質などについて検討する。The learning process in graduate education can be understood according to the adult learner model. At the core of this model is an image of students as internally motivated to grow and learn. In other words, it might be said that each student has his or her own personal learning goals. In this study, we examine how practica helps graduate students learning social work to attain their personal goals. Furthermore, we examine the factors contributing to a successful practica experience. For analysis, we use descriptive data from a questionnaire completed by 31 students of a master of social work program in the US. From this analysis, practica experience that helps students achieve their personal goals was classified to 8 categories, including learning direct practice skills, learning indirect practice skills, applying skills learned at classes, and learning diversity of reality. Additionally, factors for effective practica were classified into 9 categories, including supervisors, students' attitude, previous experience, and preparation before the practicum.
