These livestock owners work with the U.S. Forest Service in finding the best way to graze the land. Areas called grazing allotments — more than 11,000 — are assigned to individual permittees or groups of permittees. Continuing analysis of this range helps to point the way to best grazing use of the forage while considering protection, development, and use of other resources of the land
Investment funds in the Spanish agri-food sector: building global platforms
Get PDF[EN] This study analyses the operations of investment funds in the Spanish agri-food sector in recent years, as well as the transformations they have promoted. Special attention is paid to the participation of private equity funds in the fresh fruit and vegetable sector. Taking as a frame of reference the strategies of this type of investment funds and their embodiment in the investee companies, we explain the meaning of the transformations they have driven and how they are building global platforms. The Influence of Technical Progress on Agricultural Production
Get PDFIn the complex changes that have affected modern agriculture, technical progress has played a large part. Perhaps it is even the warp of the fabric; certainly it has enormously influenced the whole modern economy. It would be easy to write about the wonders of modern technology, and it would also be easy to curse them as responsible for most of our ills. This article does neither. It attempts a sober appraisal, point by point, of the influence of changes in farm power and equipment, plant and animal breeding, fertilizers, animal feeding, disease control—not only the changes in the past but those in prospect in the near future. These changes affect the whole of our agriculture—methods of production, quantities produced, the manpower needed in farming, capital requirements, size of farm units, the organization of the farm, operating costs, conditions of tenure. It is not too much to say that our destiny will depend to no small extent on our understanding of these factors and our ability to direct them for the service of all our people. Get PDFU.S. net farm income rose 21.5 percent in 1992 to 57.7 billion. Average senior farm operator household income was 4,300 was from farm sources. The senior farm operator makes most of the day-to-day decisions about the operation of the farm business. While farming is an important source of income for the 2.1 million farm operator households, only half of farm operators claim farming as their major occupation. Ninety percent of households receive some income from off-farm sources. The story in 1992 tended to be the weather conditions, which were, for the most part, very favorable with adequate rain and an absence of seasonal high temperatures in summer and early fall. These below-average temperatures eliminated the heat stress that often inhibits production of fall crops and livestock. Corn yields jumped to a record 131 bushels per acre, and yields were high for all crops harvested in both summer and fall. Direct Government payments rose 11.6 percent in 1992 to interrupt a downward trend since the 1987 peak of $16.7 billion. Production expenses remained virtually unchanged for the second consecutive year. Equity in farm assets increased in 1992 as farm debt remained constant and the value of farm assets increased
Research Progress of Microplastics Pollution in Environment

Microplastics include micro-plastic particles and nano-plastic particles, which come from the decomposition of plastic products, the release of microfibers and the industrial process of plastic particles. The distribution of microplastics in water, soil and atmosphere is summarized, and the widespread existence of microplastics in different environmental media is emphasized. This paper also summarizes the potential impact of microplastics on ecosystems and organisms, and pays attention to the transmission and accumulation of microplastics in the food chain, as well as its potential threat to human health. Finally, the paper discusses the methods and technologies of microplastics treatment and monitoring at present, and puts forward the direction of further research on microplastics pollution in order to formulate more effective management and mitigation strategies

[Methods] This research adopts the method of literature review and field research, systematically combs the research results related to the Belt and Road Initiative and rural agricultural economic management, and deeply understands the actual situation of rural agricultural economic management. [Results] The research shows that in the context of the Belt and Road Initiative, the rural agricultural economy is facing new development opportunities and challenges, but there are also some problems. In the new period, we should accelerate the innovative development of rural agricultural economy by promoting market-oriented reform, strengthening scientific and technological innovation, optimizing the industrial structure, deepening international cooperation and other measures. The Belt and Road Initiative provides an important opportunity for the innovation of rural agricultural economic management. Rural agricultural economic management should be actively integrated into the Belt and Road construction to improve the level of rural agricultural economic management. [Conclusions] This study provides useful exploration and reference for the innovation of rural agricultural economic management models, which helps to promote the healthy development of rural agricultural economy and achieve the goal of rural revitalization
Solution to the Horizontal Crossing Problem of Transportation System at Key Points in Open-Pit Mines
Get PDFIn order to reduce the horizontal crossing transportation problems between coal trucks and stripping trucks, large and small vehicles, and transport trucks and belt conveyors at key points of open pit mine in production, the separate transportation mode of underpass bridge and overpass steel trestle is proposed to optimize the open pit development transportation system, so as to solve the practical problems that the horizontal cross of transport vehicles causes vehicle blockage, affects production schedule and production safety. The results show that the horizontal crossing road can be changed into a separate type of overpass steel trestle, which can realize the classified transportation of large and small vehicles, reduce the traffic density, make vehicles with different functions go their own way, eliminate the hidden danger of traffic accidents, and improve the production efficiency
