Ethynylogation approach in antitumor lipid pharmacochemistry: from dialkynyl-carbinols to trialkynyl-carbinols
A recently proposed "ethynylogation" pharmacochemical approach, first envisaged in the series of anticancer lipidic dialkynylcarbinols (DACs) H–C≡C–CH(OH)–C≡C–R at the levels of the H–C⋮ and ⋮C–R bonds for R = n-C12H25, is completed here at the level of the (HO)C–H bond. The so-devised mono-lipidic trialkynylcarbinol (TAC) target (HC≡C)2C(OH)–C≡CR and its bis-lipidic counterpart HC≡C–C(OH)(C≡CR)2 were synthesized in 4 steps and with 33 % and 23 % overall yield, respectively. Their antitumor cytotoxicity has been evaluated towards HCT116 cells: while the latter TAC is totally inactive, the former DAC-ethynylogous TAC still exhibits a significant toxicity with an IC50 of 10 µM
Qualitative Simultaneous Identification of Inorganic and Hydrocarbon Gases by GC-TCD using Column Coupling Method
The potential application of the GC-TCD using column coupling method was investigated by means of comparison with the single column method for the identification of gas mixture containing 5 inorganic and 6 hydrocarbon gases. The results indicate the useful of column coupling method, relative to the single column method. In addition, the flow rate of carrier gas and column temperature on the retention time of the target components have a notice-able effect. Application of the column coupling method for qualitative identification of the targeted components in natural gas samples indicate that the method can be used for routine work
Isoindole and isomeric heterocyclic donating substituents in ruthenium(II)nitrosyl complexes with large first hyperpolarizabilities and potential two-photon absorption capabilities: a computational approach
A set of 22 ruthenium nitrosyl complexes of general formula [RuII(L)Cl2(NO)]+ is investigated computationally by the density functional theory. L is a terpyridine ligand substituted by different R isomers of formula C12H8N, either indole, isoindole, or carbazole, proposed as alternative donors to the electron-rich fluorene substituent. The computed resulting nonlinear optical (NLO) properties are found to strongly depend on the isomer. While the ruthenium complexes exhibit modest efficiencies at the second-order (two-photon absorption) level, some of the R isomers lead to complexes of enhanced capabilities in first order (b) nonlinear optics. The synthetic feasibility of these ligands is discussed
Chemical modifications and transformations of 3-azahetarylchroman-4-ones
Articles reporting on the chemical modifications and transformations of 3-azahetarylchroman-4-ones are rewieved. The following 3-azahetarylchroman-4-ones’ transformation - reduction of 3-azahetarylchromon-4-ones to the corresponding 3-azahetarylchromanols, -chromenes, and -3,4-dihydrochromenes, alkylation of 3-azahetarylchromanols, reconversion into 3-azahetarylchromones, formation of 3-hetarylchroman-4-one oximes and corresponding oxime ethers, recyclization into 3-aryl-4-hetarylpyrazolines are described. The biological activity of 3-azahetarylchroman-4-one modification or transformation products are also adduced
Palladium nanoparticles in ionic liquids stabilized by mono-phosphines. Catalytic applications
Palladium nanoparticles generated from organometallic complexes in the presence of functionalized mono-phosphines (L1-L3), in both THF and imidazolium-based ionic liquids (ImILs), were successfully synthesized. Depending on the phosphine and solvent nature, PdNPs with different extent of aggregation were observed. Actually, the ligand L1, P(CH2CH2CH2Ph)3, led to small and well-dispersed nanoparticles in both ILs, [BMI][PF6] and [EMI][HP(O)2OMe], in contrast to more agglomerated PdNPs obtained in THF. PdNPs in ILs were catalytically active and chemoselective in C-C cross-coupling (Suzuki-Miyaura and Heck-Mizoroki) and hydrogenation reactions. Well-defined Pd(0) and Pd(II) organometallic complexes containing L1, [PdCl2(L1)2] and [Pd(ma)(L1)2], were also prepared for comparative purposes. Supplementary informatio
Peptide Synthesis in Ionic Liquids (PEPSIL): All You Need is in the Toolbox!
This personal account describes our studies regarding peptide synthesis in ionic liquids (PEPSIL). In addition, we summarize our experiments in which the use of ionic liquids gives simple and promising access to unnatural amino acids in an enantiomerically enriched form. Extension of PEPSIL method to complex structures such as cyclopeptides is also discussed. Some of these cyclopeptides are the direct precursors of bioactive and pharmaceutical compounds
Efficient Synthesis Of 5-Substituted Ethyl 1,2,4-Triazole-3-Carboxylates
Easily accessible carboxylic acid hydrazides undergo cyclocondensation with ethyl carbethoxyformimidate, giving 5-substituted ethyl 1,2,4-triazole-3-carboxylates. These are important building blocks in organic synthesis. The approach we used to obtain title compounds made possible synthesis of 3-(2-aminophenyl)-1,2,4-triazol
Solid-phase microextraction of benzophenones coupled with gas chromatography analysis
Abstract. In this study, solid-phase microextraction method combines with gas chromatography-flame ionization detector. The proposed method is used for the preconcentration of some benzophenones. Influence of different factors on the efficiency of extraction is described in detail. The analytical procedure was optimized for fiber coating selection, extraction time, temperature, sample pH, ionic strength. For all benzophenones, the highest enrichment factors were achieved using carboxen/polydimethylsiloxane/divinylbenzene fibre immersed directly into the water samples, containing 100 mg/mL of sodium chloride, at room temperature. The optimum pH range is 5.0 – 7.0. The relative standard deviations (RSDs) were from 1.3 to 10.0 % (n = 3). The method was applied to the determination of benzophenone, benzophenone-3, 2-hydroxybenzophenone in the lake water and urine.
Thermal stability of imidazolium-based ionic liquids
This work highlights the factors tuning the thermal stability of imidazolium-based ionic liquids (IL) associated to bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide anion [NTf2]. The decomposition temperatures (Td) were evaluated by thermogravimetric analyses (TGA) with optimized parameters to obtain reproducible Td. The impact of the alkyl chain length and of the presence of functional groups and unsaturations on Td were evaluated. The thermal behaviour was governed by Van der Waals interactions between alkyl chains, and by inter and intra coulombic interactions such as hydrogen bonds
Sustainable Chemistry: Reversible reaction of CO2 with amines
The reaction of primary and secondary amines with CO2 has been successfully leveraged to develop sustainable processes. In this article, we review specific examples that use the reversible reaction of CO2 with amines to synergistically enhance reaction and recovery of the products. The three cases of interest highlighted herein are: (i) reversible protection of amines, (ii) reversible ionic liquids for CO2 capture and chemical transformations, and (iii) reversible gels of ethylene diamine. These examples demonstrate that the reversible reaction of amines with CO2 is one of the tools in the sustainable technology’s toolbox.
