Attitudes Towards De-globalization: Do multicultural experiences matter?
No full textDe-globalization is believed to have started with the Great Recession in 2008 and accelerated with political backlash against interdependence between countries with the rise of populist leaders in the two major sponsors of globalization, the United States, and the United Kingdom. More recently, COVID-19 showed that countries were vulnerable to the complex global supply chains to which we were exposed. In 2023, the war in Ukraine and tensions between USA and China has made the scenario even more complex. Based on contact theory and sensemaking, this dissertation investigates the proposition that individuals that have had more multicultural experiences will exhibit more negative attitudes towards both populism and de-globalization than those who have had few multicultural experiences, and that individuals who were less impacted by COVID-19 also tend to exhibit more negative attitudes towards de-globalization than those who were more impacted by the pandemic. Using a cross-sectional survey design of respondents in the USA (n=894), five hypotheses were tested using structural equation modeling (SEM-PLS), and support was found for three of them. The final chapter discusses the implications of the findings for global business policy, practitioners, and international business theory

Homogeneous or Diverse: Examining the Inclusiveness of Behavior-Analytic Services for the Black Population
Get PDFBlack and African Americans are the second largest minority group in the United States. Studies show that the prevalence of autism in children are similar by race and ethnicity, making Black and African Americans the second largest minority group with an autism spectrum disorder diagnosis. For behavior analyst servicing this population, there is an obligation to address the needs of these individuals and acknowledge their backgrounds and diversities. This study highlights areas that affect the quality of services provided to the Black and African American community and evaluate the inclusiveness of these areas
