The fiscal year 1976-77 may be considered as a period of steady growth
and development ... serving the basic two-year educational needs of citizens of
the Brunswick area and the Golden Isles...addition of new course offerings, especially in the vocational and
technical fields, have attracted to the campus students who might otherwise
not have pursued post-secondary courses and programs. --
New programs: Industrial Electricity and Respiratory Therapy, now 14 programs offered through the Division of Vocational-Technical Education. The Division of Business Administration developed a new career program in
Accounting. --
Library now 40,000 volumes. The library staff made considerable progress toward developing a
television studio --
100 acres acquired. Because this land is not needed for college use in the immediate future,
arrangements have been made for planting most of the land in experimental tracts
of pines and other species of trees. --
One of the most serious and debilitating conditions facing our institution
is the continued erosion of faculty and classified personnel salaries and fringe
benefits caused by inadequate salary increases and economic inflation. Beginning to take its toll in faculty
and staff. --
Concerted
effort has been made this year to decrease the amount of energy consumed

THE YEAR -- GIFTS AND GRANTS RECEIVED IN SUPPORT OF THE COLLEGE -- FINANCIAL REPORT --
The fiscal year 1975-76 may be considered as an eventful year for
Brunswick Junior College. From a positive standpoint: 1. instructional space more
than doubled, and faculty now have office space. 2. Acquired 100 acres 3. student enrollment all time high (1277 students). --
From a negative standpoint, financial crisis in
state revenue which caused the deletion of faculty and staff salary increases
for the 1975-76 fiscal year. Later, however, through court action,
the salary increases were restored, but with no increase in funding. --
New programs in auto mechanics, machine shop and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (hvac). --
One of the major accomplishments of the library staff this year has
been the centralization of all audiovisual equipment and the development
of a delivery system to provide support services to faculty. --

maintenance, clerical and secretarial, auxiliary services, and business

The fiscal year 1974-1975 may be characterized as a period of stable
operation. It was a time of continued assessment and evaluation of curricula,
procedures, programs, and general institutional progress. --
New instructional division, the Division of Special Studies,
began its initial year of operation in September, 1974. --
Significant improvement in existing curricula was the
revision of the basic English composition courses. --
Need to provide greater educational challenges for the academically
superior student. academic scholarships initiated. English honors course. --
Community support of the library continues to be good and quite a number
of patrons, faculty, and friends of the library have donated books and
made cash contributions to support the development of the library. --
Community service: Dedication to community
improvement through the organization of a wide spectrum of people
who are concerned with democratic processes, self-help, and educational
objectives, rather than approaching community improvement by emphasizing
a technical process of problem solving or by concentrating on social
activism. (190 courses) --

with Georgia Southern College and the Coastal Area Teacher Education Service --
overcrowding / severe space limitations. When the two current projects, the Vocational/Technical
and the Science/Classroom facilities, are available for occupancy,
the immediate space needs of the institution will be substantially met. --

The fiscal year 1973-74 may be characterized as a period
devoted to implementing and strengthening new curricular offerings
which were initiated the preceding year. The previous fiscal
year (1972-73) witnessed the approval of the largest number
of new programs in any previous year, with the exception of the
first year of operation. This fiscal year then has been a period
of assessment and evaluation of curricula, procedures, programs,
and general institutional progress. --

A new instructional division, the Division of Special
Studies, was planned. ... to [help] students succeed
in regular college credit courses and programs and
offer remedial instruction in reading and writing for students
who have difficulty in passing the Regents' Testing Program. Title III grant secured. --
College and community analyze the findings of last year's Task Force. Faculty
member embraces this topic for PhD thesis, "The Role of Brunswick
Junior College in Community Development." --
More new physical facilities were approved
and/or constructed than in any other year with the exception of
the initial year of operation --
