〔論 文〕小学校「外国語活動」及び「外国語」での 使用語彙と中学校「外国語」の連携 ―動詞の〜ing形の視点から―
Get PDFThis paper investigates the quantity of English vocabulary in the corpus compiled from teachers’ manuals for elementary school English prepared by the MEXT. The corpus includes English both used by teachers to teach the lessons and presented in the student textbooks as well as the recorded scripts not printed in the textbooks for the newly started elementary school English curriculum in Japan.
In general, the quantity of types and tokens of vocabulary and word levels measured by WordSmith and Word Level Checker respectively increase as students go up to the next grade. However, from a grammatical point of view, the manuals include higher level grammar, for example, various uses of “verb ＋ 〜ing” form, which have been introduced in junior high schools in the former curriculum up until March in 2021.
The results show a new direction of the English curriculum that aims to foster a positive attitude toward communication among the learners by exchanging messages actively with each other in English without strictly relying on the grammar but on what they actually want to say from the beginning level.departmental bulletin pape
Collaborative Project Activities in Setagaya Ward: Achievements of “Art Walk,” “Shotengai Tohon Seiso!,” and “Chocolate Film Festival”
Get PDFEstablished in 2003, the Department of Contemporary Liberal Arts in Showa Women’s University is a department in which students acquire a broad education through interdisciplinary learning.
Students acquire basic knowledge and methods that will allow them to understand society from a variety of perspectives in the first-year compulsory subjects. In subsequent years, students deepen their studies while focusing on their specializations, and finish by writing a graduation thesis. They acquire the ability to communicate and transmit specialized knowledge by developing Japanese skills, computer skills, and the ability to read and understand sociological data. Using the broad knowledge obtained in study groups, they take part in projects with local people to identify social issues and find ways to solve them.
This study note records three projects of which the author was in charge: “Art Walk of Setagaya,” “Shotengai Tohon Seiso!,” and “Chocolate Film Festival,” and explains how she, a literature teacher, implemented and guided them and analyzes the effects of the projects and their significance.departmental bulletin pape
