    Get PDF
The development of information technology has changed the world landscape with the existence of an area called cyberspace. The rapid development of cyberspace, which is integrated with aspects of human life and has far-reaching effects on the links of life, has made cyber security one of the most important issues in the world. The number of cybercrime cases that occur requires the acceleration of cybersecurity reform in Indonesia. This study aims to outline the challenges and problems of cybersecurity in Indonesia and provide several alternative policies that can be taken by the Indonesian government to strengthen cybersecurity in Indonesia. This study uses a literature review approach by utilizing data and documents related to cybersecurity in Indonesia. The results of the study show that the challenges faced by the Indonesian government today are, firstly, cybersecurity policies in Indonesia are still overlapping, secondly, the need for institutional improvement and authority over data protection and cybercrime, and finally, the human behavior factor in the emergence of cybersecurity. Based on some of these problems, it is necessary to submit policy recommendations, namely, first, the need for the Government of Indonesia to improve the quality and capability of the Indonesian people about the importance of cybersecurity, second, the Government of Indonesia needs to immediately ratify the draft law on cybersecurity, third, the need to strengthen the duties, functions and authority of the State Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), and the last recommendation is to increase the cooperation and involvement of the Indonesian government with cyber security institutions at the international level

Adopting SDGs as International Norm at The Village Level

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study is to analyze how the global SDGs, as an international norm, has been adopted into laws or policies at the local level. In line with this objective, the research examines how the global SDGs can influence the Indonesian government in implementing policies to incorporate them into national policies. In Indonesia, commitment to the SDGs is manifested through various national regulations, including Presidential Regulation No. 59 of 2017. The Indonesian government, through various ministries and agencies has taken steps to ensure the implementation of the SDGs reaches the regional level, including localizing the SDGs into Village SDGs program in accordance with Minister of Villages Regulation No. 21 of 2020. Nevertheless, the implementation of Village SDGs, which varies across regions according to the legal framework in each village, has resulted in differing levels of Village SDGs achievement, particularly in Sumberjaya Village, South Tambun District, Bekasi Regency, which has attained low achievement. This analysis is based on the international norm diffusion mechanism, with the research hypothesis stating that international norms can influence a country to adopt and localize such laws in accordance with the local context. The methodology used by the author in this research is qualitative, with data collection techniques including interviews and literature review

Challenging Patriarchy: The Resource Mobilization of 4B Movement in South Korea

    Get PDF
The 4B movement emerged in South Korea in 2019 as a response to the dominance of patriarchal culture in various aspects of South Korean society. 4B as part of feminism carries 4 main values, namely bihon (refusal of marriage), bichulsan (refusal of childbirth), biyonae (refusal of romance), and bisekseu (refusal of sexual relationships). These values symbolize the rejection of patriarchal domination and reappoint the degree and role of women in the social, political, and economic life of South Korea. This research discusses how the 4B movement mobilizes its resources to achieve its goals in opposing patriarchal domination in South Korea. Using Bob Edwards and John D. McCarthy's theoretical framework of social movement resources and mobilization, resources consist of moral resources (such as public opinion and support from allies), cultural resources (such as shared values and beliefs), social-organizational resources (such as networks and coalitions), human resources (such as skilled volunteers and leaders), and material resources (such as funding and equipment), the movement was able to achieve significant impact. These resources can be applied using 4 mechanisms, namely aggregation (gathering resources from various sources), self-production (generating resources internally), co-optation/takeover (gaining control over resources belonging to others), and patronage (gaining support from external donors). The findings of this study show that the 4B movement can achieve significant goals by effectively mobilizing diverse resources and using appropriate resource access mechanisms. The 4B movement serves as a model for other social justice movements that want to challenge dominant power structures and create a more just society

Are Judges Listening? Rethinking Sentencing in Child Sexual Violence through Victim Impact Statements in Indonesia

    Get PDF
The protection of victims' rights, especially child victims of sexual violence, remains a major challenge in Indonesia's criminal justice system. One critical yet underutilized instrument is the Victim Impact Statement (VIS), which allows victims to convey the psychological, emotional, social, and economic impact of the crime they experienced. However, the implementation of VIS in Indonesia is still limited due to the absence of explicit regulation in the current Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP). This paper aims to examine the role of VIS in strengthening victim protection and to analyze the inhibiting factors affecting its implementation in the Karanganyar District Court. Using a socio-legal approach, this study combines normative legal research with empirical data gathered through interviews with judicial actors. The findings reveal that the main obstacles lie in three areas: the lack of legal substance (absence of specific VIS regulation), weak legal structure (limited procedural guidelines and institutional support), and unsupportive legal culture (stigmatization of victims and lack of victim-centered perspectives among legal practitioners). The study proposes a structured model of VIS based on Supreme Court Regulation No. 1 of 2022 and international practices, aiming to fill the normative gap and support future reform of Indonesia’s criminal procedure law. Strengthening VIS as a legal and procedural tool is essential for ensuring justice that is not only punitive but also restorative and responsive to the needs of victims

Lampung Cikoneng as a language outside its original area experiences language contact with other nearby languages, namely Sundanese and Javanese Cikoneng, Banten Province. Mutual influence may occur, both lexical and phonological variations. Through dialectological studies, this study aims to describe the form of variation in Lampung Cikoneng language on the term limb, both lexical and phonological variations, and visualize the linguistic conditions in Cikoneng Village with a language map. The research used the qualitative method. Data collection was done by interviewing 30 informants with 15 observation points. The research instrument was a questionnaire totalling 52 limb vocabularies. Data analysis was conducted using the commensurate technique. Language mapping was done using the isogloss file map. The results showed that Cikoneng Lampung language: variation with one lexical form (13.40%), variation with one lexical form but with phonological distinction (27%), and lexical variation with 2-7 lexical forms (59.60%). The Lampung Cikoneng language has been influenced by the Javanese and Sundanese languages of Cikoneng, Banten. This can be seen based on the comparison results with Lampung dialects A and O, which tend to show lexical differences. Dialect phenomena occur in some areas, where language differences do not have clear boundaries, but change gradually, reflecting the multilingual society that exists in Cikoneng Village. Based on the results of language mapping using isogloss files, Cikoneng Village is a language use area which is divided into 3 use areas, namely Lampung language use area, Sundanese language use area, and Javanese language use area. The Lampung language use area is more dominant than the 15 observation points, between observation points number 1-5 and 7, 8, and 10-13 are Lampung language use areas, while on the outskirts of observation points number 6 and 9, 14 and 15 are Sundanese and Javanese

    Investigating Familial Influence on Stuttering

    Get PDF
A unique case of stuttering was found in South Tangerang, involving an entire family—both parents and their children—all exhibiting this kind of speech disorder. This study aims to investigate the nature and variation of stuttering experienced by each family member, with a focus on the structural placement of speech disfluencies, the situational conditions under which stuttering occurs, and the potential underlying causes. Employing a qualitative-descriptive research design, data were collected through interviews, direct observation, and stimulus-response techniques. The analysis was conducted through three linguistic lenses: structural (examining the linguistic form and placement of stuttering), cognitive (considering the influence of communicative context and processing load), and psycholinguistic (exploring internal and external causal factors). The findings reveal significant variation in the manifestation of stuttering among family members, with disfluencies occurring at different positions within utterances, affecting their sounds production, such as: 1). losing of several phonemes like /c/, /a/, and /m/; 2). repetitions, and 3). phonemes displacements. In addition, cognitive analysis showed that stuttering is triggered under varying communicative conditions. These findings suggest that both environmental and familial factors may play a significant role in the development and persistence of stuttering. This research contributes to the broader field of stuttering studies by offering new insight into hereditary and contextual influences on speech disorders within the Indonesian cultural and linguistic setting

Ideological Perspectives of Junior and Senior Academics on Factors Behind Yemeni Arabic-Speaking Student-Teachers’ English Deficiencies

    Get PDF
Despite the strong emphasis that Non-Native English-speaking teachers place on English language proficiency, this study reveals that English language teachers graduating from public universities in an Arab country often lack essential communication skills due to gaps in their training. Using a Critical Discourse Analysis approach, this research draws on data from two sources to critically examine the inadequate English proficiency among student-teachers through an ideological lens. The findings highlight how differing ideological influences shaped various factors affecting the STs’ language competence. After all, these ideological forces have significant implications for the development of STs’ linguistic abilities

THE IMMUNE RESPONSE TO HUMAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS

    Get PDF
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is an infectious agent that disrupts the immune system by destroying CD4+ T lymphocytes, thereby triggering a decline in immune function and the development of Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). HIV employs a complex infection mechanism, including binding to host cell receptors, integration of genetic material, and modulation of the immune system to evade detection. The immune response to HIV involves the innate immune system, such as the activation of macrophages and dendritic cells through pattern recognition receptors, as well as the adaptive immune system through the activity of cytotoxic T cells and antibody production by B cells. However, HIV utilizes various strategies to evade immune responses, including rapid mutation and down-regulation of immune molecule expression. Antiretroviral therapy (ART) is the primary strategy for inhibiting HIV replication and maintaining immune system function, and it has been proven effective in reducing the morbidity and mortality associated with HIV infection, although a curative therapy has yet to be discovered
