Historicity of the National Santri Day

    No full text
This article discusses the establishment of National Santri Day, which was created through Presidential Decree No. 22 of 2015. The date refers to the event of the Jihad Resolution declared by Kiai across Java and Madura in 1945, under the influence of President Soekarno, to assist the Indonesian people in their struggle for independence. Seventy years later, the value of the Jihad Resolution was revisited and institutionalized into the tradition of National Santri Day. The legalization of National Santri Day raises an important question regarding its timing. This research employs a qualitative method by analyzing texts related to the historicity of National Santri Day to examine the background and underlying factors behind the establishment of National Santri Day, with an emphasis on its residual, emergent, and dominant cultural aspects. The findings of this study reveal that the values of struggle and the collective trauma toward radicalism in Indonesia are utilized as residual elements preserved by the dominant authority as a means of legitimizing its power during the new governmental period in 2014

Pink Triangles and Raised Fists: Framing of AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power (ACT UP) and Black Lives Matter (BLM) through Graphic Art Activism

    No full text
Graphic art persists as one of the non-violent devices for social movements and is thus worthy of a re-evaluation. Using Benford & Snow’s framing theory, this paper compares the graphic art framings of AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power (ACT UP) during the 1980-90s and Black Lives Matter (BLM) in the wake of George Floyd’s killing in 2020 in order to examine what has stayed and changed in graphic art activism. This study argues that both movements’ diagnostic framing utilized symbols rooted in the history of each community’s oppression, subverted the public’s dominant narrative, and targeted government and institutions deemed responsible for their cause. In their prognostic framing, both presented solutions directed upward to the ruling bodies and downward to the general society. For their motivational framing, both movements aroused emotional resonance with their graphic arts—provoking emotions of anger, self-esteem, and solidarity which pushed people to join their cause. Those similarities testify to how graphic arts continue to possess the power of social transformation at the heart of movements

    No full text
This study investigates the influence of corporate governance, leverage, and institutional ownership on tax avoidance, with board gender diversity serving as a moderating variable, in property and real estate companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2015 to 2024. Based on 144 observations from 18 purposively selected firms, tax avoidance was measured using the Effective Tax Rate (ETR), corporate governance, leverage, institutional ownership and gender diversity by the percentage of female directors. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) in SPSS 26. The findings indicate that corporate governance and leverage does not have a significant effect on tax avoidance, while institutional ownership and board gender diversity has significantly on tax avoidance. Board gender diversity moderates the relationship between institutional ownership and corporate governance on tax avoidance but does not moderate the effects of leverage

    No full text
The rapid growth of halal tourism as a global industry, fueled by the increasing Muslim population and high demand for sharia-compliant travel services, highlights the sector's significant potential for enhancing economic resilience. However, scientific studies directly linking halal tourism to economic resilience remain limited and poorly integrated. This study aims to address this gap by employing a bibliometric approach to map the development, trends, and emerging research themes in this field. Using a descriptive-quantitative method, secondary data were collected from the Google Scholar and Scopus databases, covering publications from 2015 to 2025. Analysis was conducted using Publish or Perish and VOSviewer software to trace patterns of author collaboration, keyword co-occurrence, top citations, and thematic evolution over time. The study's results indicate a significant upward trend in the number of publications, particularly after 2021, reflecting a growing academic interest in the role of halal tourism in fostering inclusive economic recovery. Bibliometric visualization reveals that initial research concentrated on socio-cultural aspects, such as religious tourism, MSMEs, and cultural heritage. However, in recent years, the focus has shifted toward macroeconomic issues, including regional economic resilience and demand-side strategies. These findings highlight the importance of incorporating halal tourism strategies into sustainable and resilient economic development policies, while also opening up avenues for further research in the future

    No full text
The rapid development of digital technology has driven substantial changes in consumption patterns and marketing strategies, including purchasing decisions related to halal products among university students, who represent the generation most adaptive to technological advancement. Growing awareness of the importance of halal assurance and information transparency positions digital marketing as a crucial instrument in shaping purchase intention. This study aims to analyze the influence of Digital Marketing Exposure (DME), Influencer Trust (IT), Digital Content Quality (DCQ), and electronic Word of Mouth (eWOM) on Halal Product Intention (HPI) among university students. The research employs a quantitative approach with purposive sampling involving 100 student respondents in Purwokerto who are active users of digital media. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression after passing classical assumption tests to ensure model feasibility. The findings indicate that DME has a significant negative effect on HPI, while DCQ and eWOM have significant positive effects. Meanwhile, IT shows no significant effect on HPI. These results suggest that higher-quality digital content and stronger online recommendations increase students’ intention to purchase halal products, whereas excessive digital marketing exposure may instead reduce purchase interest. This study underscores the need for more selective halal digital marketing strategies that prioritize content quality and strengthen eWOM to enhance purchase intention among young consumers. The implications of this research may serve as a reference for businesses, marketers, and policymakers in designing effective and relevant halal marketing strategies in the digital era
