Durability of alkali-activated slag concrete with sodium metasilicate powder as activator under nitric acid attack
The study presented here examined the durability and microstructural properties of one-part alkali-activated slag concrete (AASC) exposed to a nitric acid environment (pH = 1). The alkali activators employed included sodium metasilicate pentahydrate (Na2SiO3·5H2O) and anhydrous sodium metasilicate (Na2SiO3-anhydrous). Various parameters were explored, such as compressive strength, electrical resistivity, mass and volume changes, and acid penetration depth. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy images, energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis and elemental mapping were also used to monitor microstructural changes. The results showed that one-part alkali-activated slag concrete made with anhydrous sodium metasilicate in a nitric acid medium had relatively better performance than the same concrete activated with sodium metasilicate pentahydrate. Microstructural analysis showed that due to the nitric acid medium, the composition of binder gel atoms changed, but no new phase was created in the concrete matrix. Based on the findings derived from EDX analysis, it could be inferred that the greater abundance of sodium and magnesium elements in one-part AASC, in comparison to the ordinary Portland cement (OPC) mixture, contributed to a retardation in concrete destruction. In addition, the OPC mixture displayed mass and volume changes 2.43 and 2.64 times greater than those of the one-part AASC activated with anhydrous sodium metasilicate

Cette contribution présente le programme As de cœur - amitié, amour et sexualité sans violences, destiné aux jeunes et conçu pour les accompagner dans la construction de relations saines. Qu'est-ce qui favorise des relations positives et égalitaires ? Comment les stéréotypes de genre influencent-ils nos relations et la perception de soi ? Quels sont les signaux d'alarme face à une situation de violence ? Où et quand demander de l'aide ? Que dit la loi ? Voici quelques-unes des questions abordées lors des séances du programme, mis en œuvre dans les écoles ou les institutions. Ce programme et les espaces d'échanges qui en découlent offrent aux jeunes, mais aussi aux adultes qui l'animent, une occasion d'ouvrir le dialogue sur ces thématiques et de faire évoluer leurs propres représentations

Enabling biological nitrogen fixation in agriculture ::an eco-industrial perspective
Food production, including cereal crops such as maize, rice, and wheat, and other products like oilseed, tubers, dairy, meat, fish and sugar, accounts for up to 50 % of global crop output and is projected to rise along with population and income growth. As industrial agriculture heavily relies on mineral fertilizers, for sustaining crop growth, the global fertilizer consumption is also projected to rise in the upcoming years. Nitrogen is the most critical nutrient for crops, so that N-based fertilizers are the most widely used worldwide. However, excessive N fertilization leads to remarkable environmental damage and economic losses annually. Enhancing nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) by aligning nitrogen supply with plant demand is crucial for more sustainable agriculture. Biological nitrogen fixation (BNF) presents a promising strategy to reduce synthetic N use. However, integrating BNF into industrial agriculture requires strategies that address both biological and technical challenges. This review discusses the limitations and feasibility of existing strategies to enable BNF in non-leguminous crops. Currently, issues such as consistency and scalability of microbial products, along with regulations, are amongst the main limitations to the adoption of BNF in agriculture. In addition, as the production of bioformulations has not been standardized yet, many products still lack reproducibility, stability and applicability. In this review, relevant factors contributing to the design of effective microbial formulations are discussed, and product design is proposed as alternative valuable strategy which – coupled with appropriate proof of agronomic efficacy – can enable BNF-based solutions as more sustainable fertilization practices. Therefore, the development of effective microbial formulations aiming at reducing N input, losses, and dependence on synthetic fertilizers, is described in the light of both industrial and ecological perspectives. The review remarks the potential of biofertilizers as tools to enable BNF in agriculture and how an eco-design can help developing more effective, stable and hence scalable products. On the other hand, beside the increasing market demand, the regulatory framework is still a major barrier, playing an important role in the identification and formulation of reliable protocols aimed at standardizing the production of microbial products for fertilizing purposes

Dans le cadre des travaux du GIS HYBRIDA-IS, qui interrogent le travail des frontières dans l'intervention sociale et la recherche, mais aussi entre les activités relevant du social et de multiples autres secteurs comme la santé, le travail, l'éducation, la justice, la culture, etc. , cet ouvrage questionne comment une certaine forme d'autonomie au travail révèle une recomposition de l'intervention sociale dans les marges où les acteurs réinventent de nouvelles configurations d'action, à travers des pas de côté, des expérimentations réflexives, des innovations sociales. Quels que soient les ajustements et agencements réalisés, l'appropriation différenciée des dispositifs par les acteurs et leur réappropriation des cadres d'intervention pour faire face aux situations-limites, incertitudes, défis et dilemmes auxquels ils sont confrontés amène in fine à questionner la manière dont les "nouveaux" contextes/milieux et territoires d'intervention augmentent l'autonomie discrétionnaire des professionnels ou en tout cas la rendent davantage visible et palpable là où elle demeurait cachée. Les différentes contributions donnent à voir de "nouvelles" formes d'autonomie, d'engagement et de délibération dans le travail du social, mettant en mouvements les métiers et logiques professionnelles allant des pas de côté et ajustements discrétionnaires aux nouvelles coopérations et ajustements institutionnels structurants

Assessing bisphenols migration from children's products on the Swiss market ::simulated oral exposure and risk implications
Bisphenols, including bisphenol A (BPA) and its analogues, are widely used in consumer plastics and are known endocrine disruptors. Despite increasing BPA regulations, its analogues have been found in children's products, with migration patterns varying across product categories. This study provides a large-scale evaluation of bisphenols migration from 162 products randomly selected from the Swiss market, categorized into toys (TOY), bath toys and accessories (BTA), oral supports (OSU), and feeding accessories and baby bottles (FAB). Migration was assessed using artificial saliva as a simulant, replicating buccal exposure in infants and young children. This study reveals widespread bisphenols release, with BPA and bisphenol B as the most frequently detected compounds. Notably, OSU and FAB categories, which involve direct oral contact, exhibited higher migration rates than TOY and BTA. Exposure was estimated using a deterministic model, integrating daily exposure (DE), margin of exposure (MOE), and total daily intake (TDI). MOE values below 100 were observed for BPE in OSU, indicating potential health concerns. TDI calculations suggest that exposure from these products alone exceeds the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) safety threshold for BPA. The findings underscore the urgent need for stricter regulatory oversight, particularly for bisphenol A analogues in products frequently mouthed by infants and toddlers
