Cércidas sobre la creación poética (Mel. III Livrea)

    No full text
The authors start by accepting the reading of the papyrus πιμελοσαρκοφαγῶν, instead of Mayer's correction -φἁγων, and then propose a new interpretation of Cercidas’ third meliambus. The poet describes his poetical skill through cynegetical metaphors; he admits the patronage of the Muses but reverses the traditional poetic relation with the sorrows, which do not exert pressure on the poet and impel him to compose, but are, on the contrary, dominated by him.No disponibl

Dono dare: el reflejo de un espejismo sintáctico en latín

    No full text
Traditional analysis of datives appearing in expressions like dono dare has only focused on the assumed value of «finality» they seem to possess, without considering their possible origin. In our article, we attempt to show that: 1. the origin has to be sought in double dative constructions (which hitherto have been misinterpreted); 2. their function is a predicative one; and 3. their efficiency in the language obeys reasons of syntactical clarity. No disponibl

Naturaleza y relación de las nociones ciceronianas de sapiens y princeps

    No full text
The ciceronian sapiens, differently from the stoic one, accepts both opinion and doubt, and, in contrast to the epicurean one, implicates his wisdom in political tasks. This sapiens is the epistemological foundation of the princeps, who requires that sort of non-dogmatic and practical wisdom. The sapiens makes his way to politics as an exigency due to reason and the princeps approaches philosophy as an open and plural foundation. No disponibl

Períodos condicionales griegos: un análisis lingüístico

    No full text
The author analyses Greek conditional periods using texts by Sophocles, Thucydides and Plato, and applies a structural method with a functional approach, in an attempt to assign constant function, value and meaning to each formal expression. After rejecting the traditional names used to denote conditionals, the author draws up a table of nine levels of theoretical combinations of which only seven have been recorded in the examples studied. No disponibl

Realidad e ilusión en la poesía latina tardoantigua: notas a propósito de estética literaria

    No full text
One of the outstanding literary features of the latest old Latin poets (Pentadius, Optatianus Porfyrius, Tiberianus and, mainly, Ausonius) is undoubtedly the detailed description and close imitation of reality, even in its most ambiguous aspects —whether they are pellucidness, touches of light and shade, gleams, delusion or an odd blend of truth and deceit— and thus they attempt to excel their classical models, closely related to the aesthetics which rules other techniques and arts at the time. Such an aesthetic approach affects both matter and form (echoic verses, centos, carmina figurata, etc.).No disponibl

La distribución de uso is/se en los prosistas latinos

    No full text
Against the old common opinion, the use of is/se for the Third Person Anaphora obeys to a well founded distribution in Latin prose, if, on the one hand, we try to find the empractic situation underlying the production that the texts show, and, on the other, we respect the different blocks in the decursus. Then, it will appear a preference to Anaphora with se pointing to empractic First Person, or to Second Person, according to empractic meaning of each produced stretch. No disponibl
