Plasma Mutation Breeding of High Yield γ-Aminobutyric Acid Lactic Acid Bacteria
γ-amino butyric acid (GABA) is a non-protein amino acid widely distributed in nature. It has analgesic effect,promotes growth hormone secretion and prevents the physiological function of Alzheimer's disease.In order toimprove the yield of GABA, the strain of strain HX-3-6 was tested by Atmospheric and Room Temperature Plasma(ARTP), and the strain with more than 90% lethality was selected for fermentation, and through the gradient plateaccording to the level of GABA concentration and colony size of the screening. Then, use the fermentation mediumfor re-screening and genetic stability test. The yield of the mutant strain L-120-1 was 5.828 g/L, which was 18.84%higher than that before the mutation (4.904). The mutant strain L-120-1 was used as the starting strain for ARTPmutagenesis. The yield of the stable mutant strain 90s-high was 6.178g / L, which was 16.15% higher than that beforethe mutation (5.319g / L). The yield of HX-3-6 strain was higher than that of GABA mutant strain 90s-high 2, whichwas stable and high yield GABA was 25.98%
LifeTrain: Driving lifelong learning for biomedical professionals
This article describes LifeTrain — the European common framework for continuing professional development in the biomedical sciences. An important goal of LifeTrain is to support biomedical professionals to work collaborativelyacross disciplines, sectors and national boundaries. LifeTrain is an open community with a unifying goal; it brings together many excellent, but disparate, activities into a process towards establishing a focused and coherentframework for continuing professional development in the biomedical sciences. This collaborative approach provides the critical mass to make a major contribution to strengthen the skills and competencies of biomedical professionals in a rapidly changing environment. LifeTrain's signatories, which include multinational pharmaceutical companies, research infrastructures, professional and scientific bodies, higher-education institutes and research institutes, have agreed to the principles of the framework and to continue to collaborate to implement LifeTrain. Correlation between meridional migration of the East Asian jet stream and tropical convection over Indonesia in winter
The relationship between tropical convective activities and meridional (north-south) migration of the East Asian jet stream (EAJS) in winter (December-February) is investigated for improving our knowledge of processes affecting the meridional migration of the EAJS. The monthly mean fields of outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) produced by NCAR and monthly atmospheric circulations produced by the NCEP/NCAR are used in this study. For 31 winter seasons between 1980 and 2011, the meridional migration of the winter EAJS is found to be strongly correlated with the present and preceding conditions of tropical convection over Indonesia. The anomalies in the tropical convection over the region in the preceding autumn and even preceding summer are a very useful indicator for the abnormal meridional migration of the wintertime EAJS. When the tropical convection over Indonesia weakens (strengthens), the EAJS has an abnormal southward (northward) migration. The atmospheric circulation associated with the abnormal meridional migration of the EAJS features abnormal air temperatures over the EAJS and its south side. The center of abnormal air temperatures occurs over the region south of the Yangtze River. Abnormal air pressures generated by abnormal air temperatures lead to abnormal winds. In the case of weakened tropical convection (positive OLR anomaly) over Indonesia, ascending motion of air mass over Indonesia is reduced, and the strength of Hadley circulation is weakened over the meridional range of the western Pacific Ocean. Consequently, the high-level air mass to the south of the core of the EAJS abnormally ascends and cools and the nearly southerly divergent winds at high-altitudes weaken, leading to significant reduction of heat transport from tropics to the southern China, with negative anomalies of air temperatures in the EAJS and its south side. The above processes increase thermal winds to the south of the Yangtze River and enhance the high-level westerly winds. To the north of the Yangtze River, both thermal winds and the high-level westerly winds are reduced. As a result, the EAJS has an abnormal south migration. In the case of enhanced tropical convection (negative OLR anomaly) over Indonesia, the opposite happens, in which Hadley circulation strengthens, the air mass to the south of the core of the EAJS abnormally descends and warms, heat transport increases from tropics to the southern China with positive air temperatures anomalies over the EAJS and its south side, and the EAJS has an abnormal northward migration
Impacts of model resolution on simulation of meso-scale eddies in the Northeast Pacific Ocean
The model simulated meso-scale eddies in the Northeast Pacific Ocean, using two models with nominal horizontal resolutions of 1/12° and 1/36° in latitude/longitude (grid spacing of 7.5 km and 2.5 km), respectively, are presented. Compared with the 1/12° model, the 1/36° model obtains (1) similar variance and wavenumber spectra of the sea level anomaly and water temperature anomaly, and (2) increases in the level of the domain-averaged total kinetic energy, eddy kinetic energy (EKE), and variance of horizontal gradient of water temperature. In the interior basin of the southern region, both models show stronger eddy frontal activities, represented by EKE, temperature and its horizontal gradient, in summer and fall than in winter and spring. The challenge of evaluating the realism of high-resolution ocean models with conventional satellite remote sensing observations is discussed

A Preliminary Study on the Relationship between Micronucleus Formation and Cell Cycle
Micronucleus is an abnormal structure in eukaryotic cells. It is the result of various physical and chemical factors,such as radiation and chemical drugs acting on dividing cells. It is generally believed that micronuclei are originatedin backward chromosomes and fragments that have lost centromere and are formed at the end of mitosis. However,other experiments suggest that interphase cells can also form micronuclei. In this study, human peripheral bloodlymphocytes were cultured in vitro and cyclophosphamide 20 ug/ml was injected at specifi c times of the cell cycle toobserve the relationship between micronuclei formation and cell cycle.
