The object of the present study is to comment some aspects on the iconography of the Roman province Africa. First of fall, we deal of the origin of one of the most important attributes: the exuviae, and how this element became a characteristic of the personification of Africa... Then, we propose a discussion about three objects which present some interesting aspect from the iconological point of view: two pieces of the Boscoreale Treasure and a relie from Villa Belleti, in Rome.
The main scene of Priam Painter's name vase. a hydria in the Madrid Archaeological Museum (inv. no 12920) belongs to the Epic/Trojan cycle, as it is suggested by the "París kalos" inscription beside one of the main figures, an archer in Scythian garments. lt is a typical scene of harnessing a quadriga. However the unusual elderly owner of the chariot, holding the reins and the "kentron" in his hands, can only be identified as Priam. Despite of the earlier general interpretations of the scene, or its relation to the king's departure for Hector's ransom (II, XXIV, 279-80., ib. 322-7), suggested by K. Friis-Johansen, we do support here the association of the scene with another departure of the royal chariot (II, III, 259-60): Priam, accompanied by Antenor, is departing for the Troyan field to watch the duel between Paris and Menelaos. This way, the figure of Paris in our scene can be thoroughly explained.
Analysis of the representations of Charon in the Reed painter with the intention to throw into relief the major traits of the style and the technique of this type or scenes. The testification of absurd compositions (the mixt type shrine cult/Charon; the presence of a women with a strigyle) allows to rescarch into the type of clientèle of the painter and to conclude about the sociollogically specific character of Charon's myth.
The works carried out during the 1989/1990 Campaings have tried to achieve: the thorough documentation of the building using the diaries of the dig: the study of the architecture, paintign, pavements and material culture as well as a diagnosis of how well-preserved the aforementioned remains are. The Home/Caupona (I.8.8-9) belonging to L. Vetutius Placidu, in its initial stages, dates back to the 2nd Century B.C., and three stages have been detected in gradual progression between that date and the year 79 A.D. These reforms can also be seen in the pictorial decoration from the II, III and IV styles and in the opus signinum and «cocciopesto» pavements that have been conserved. The material culture, represented by ceramics (t.s.i, amphoras, dolia, and lamps), metals and objects made out of bone, make up the furnishings of a middle-class home in Pompeii. Finally, the state of conservation of the materials under study has been diagnosed and posible repairs have been suggested.

In the following text I pretend a better understanding of the Oriental cults in the lberian Peninsula through new documents, basically numismatical. In the great majority we deal with Punic iconography related to Melkart and Tanit on the coinage of the Guadalquivir valley, but also in the mints of the Baeturia. Others, as sorne coins of Carmo (Carmona), could represent Ma-Bellona. I also discuss sorne epigraphic evidence, as an inscription from Italica dedicated to Ma. In relation with this divinity, Cybeles, and the new material from the excavations in El Trampal (Cáceres) I deal also with Ataecina's worship. Some coins of Carthagonova testify an oficial introduction of the Isis cult in the city on Augustus time.
Archaeological research has traditionally considered that Iberian aristocracy showed its social status through the deposition of the finesh objects in the graves. Nevertheless, gold is basically absent of funerary contexts. This paper propases to consider gold as an object of highest value, fundamentally involved in iberian systems of heritage and transmission of power.
