    No full text
The present paper tries to determine the main characteristics and coherence of a group of goldpieces from the Castro culture (II Iron Age), traditionally known as belt-diadems. An historiographic research of the ancient publication of these pieces, and an accurate analysis of the old finds, gives some light on different aspects around this objects, such as provenance, context and eventual associations that are relevant to interpret these intriguing archeological artifacts. The study is completed by a technological analysis of the dispersed fragments of Moñes, analysis based on the metal surface topographical examination with the help of binoculars and scanning electron microscopy.

This paper deals with the signs of the Iberian Levantine writing that, due to their little evidence, remain undeciphered. The data about are systematized and the more probable solutions are accounted for. It's also stated the existence of a new problematic sign, surely a special vowel allophone. Finally I re-study a recently published inscription, whose proper reading direction would be wright to left.

The present article is a full study of the first funerary monuments documented in Colonia Patricia (Corduba, act. Córdoba). It deals not only with the architectural shapes and forms which, in spite of having been made mainly of native materials and in local workshops, reveal a clear Italic influence on burial types and morphology, but also with their topographic layout, especially in relation with the higways around the city.

Ancient Ilerda (Hispania Citerior) is a well known site thanks to written and numismatic sources, both Republican and Imperial. Howewer, archaeological research has been almost neglected as a source for the historical development of the city. Systematic archaeological excavations, carried out in last two decades, has change radically our knowledge of the extension, evolution and main features of the site from the pre-roman period until the late antique.

Two Roman inscriptions are supposed to have been discovered at "Hellerena", modern Llerena in southern Spain, to which were often, but not always added epigrams. The same inscriptions are also recorded to have been found at the Lower Rhine near Castra Vetera I/Xanten. The obvious spurious inscriptions, which are only mentioned in manuscripts, are about a polyandreîon in which soldiers of the legio V and XIX were buried, who had been killed in action while defending Castra Vetera. Furthermore they tell us about bones of the dead of the same legions in the Varus-battle A.D. 9, that Germanicus ordered to be buried. The paper tries to solve the problem of the unusual tradition of the inscriptions. The arrangement of the two legions probably goes back to a certain early version of Tacitus' acute Annals.

Inside the talayotic complex known as So n'Oms, in the municipal area of Palma (Mallorca, Balearic Islands), there is a sanctuary excavated in the sixties which produced an ample series of thin walled pottery that were dedicated as offerings to the gods. All the material found can be dated between 20-10 a.C.-. and 50 d.C. It is so well preserved that it has been possible to recognise and determine decoration and paste and, therefore, to reach to the conclusion that most of them belongs to production centers situated in Mallorca and Ibiza (from this last almost the 70%). There are, also, italic and betican productions.

This paper, which follows a former one in Emerita 68, 2000, pp.1-18, collects and studies the Greek toponymy of Southern and Mediterranean Spain: its origin, dialectal character and chronology. This toponymy offers an insight on the knowledge of this area by the Greeks. Frequently it translates or hellenizes indigenous or Phoenician names. It can be said that the Greek toponymy is one of the witnesses at our disposal for achieving a better understanding of the role the greeks played in Iberia.
