Dose Enhancement Effects of Gold Nanoparticles Specifically Targeting RNA in Breast Cancer Cells [Dataset]

    No full text
Localization microscopy has shown to be capable of systematic investigations on the arrangement and counting of cellular uptake of gold nanoparticles (GNP) with nanometer resolution. In this article, we show that the application of specially modified RNA targeting gold nanoparticles (“SmartFlares”) can result in ring like shaped GNP arrangements around the cell nucleus. Transmission electron microscopy revealed GNP accumulation in vicinity to the intracellular membrane structures including them of the endoplasmatic reticulum. A quantification of the radio therapeutic dose enhancement as a proof of principle was conducted with γH2AX foci analysis: The application of both – SmartFlares and unmodified GNPs – lead to a significant dose enhancement with a factor of up to 1.2 times the dose deposition compared to non-treated breast cancer cells. This enhancement effect was even more pronounced for SmartFlares. Furthermore, it was shown that a magnetic field of 1 Tesla simultaneously applied during irradiation has no detectable influence on neither the structure nor the dose enhancement dealt by gold nanoparticles

The Abou Naddara Collection - James Sanua's complete works

    No full text
Access to James Sanua's journal publications and his extensive oeuvre has hitherto been difficult. Therefore, the journalistic and artistic material of the Paris-exiled Egyptian nationalist has hardly received the degree of scholarly attention it actually deserves. Nevertheless, during the research-work for her Ph.D. dissertation "The Construct of Egypt's National-Self in James Sanua's Early Satire and Caricature" Eliane Ursula Ettmüller was able to collect James Sanua's complete works and –even more importantly– the majority of the originals of his magazines. Mrs Eva Milhaud kindly gave her the permission to have Sanua's legacy digitized and to make it available to interested readers and researchers all over the world. As the newspaper-series of the period from August 1878 to December 1884 and of the ones published between 1908 and 1910 were not among the originals, Prof. Dr. Nagwa Anous made it possible for her to have the reprints scanned which were published by Dar Sader in Beirut in 1974. Publication records are provided in MODS XML and include the publication title in Arabic, western transcription, and English or French translation (using the Translation on the originals, if available). In addition, the date of each issue in Arabic and western notation, as well as issue number and number of pages are provided. The scans were produced in tiff format at 300 ppi, 8bit. They will be provided at a later time, and can be found in The Abou Naddara Collection or in the Abou Naddara Newspaper Collection

HELIOS full-waveform laser scanning simulation framework. Source code, precompiled version, example files for study of understory tree height scanning and respective output.

    No full text
This data collection enables any user to reproduce the study Hämmerle et al. (2017). It provides the source code to compile the applied simulation framework. Furthermore, a precompiled version of the software including the necessary files are provided so that a direct start of the simulation without compilation is possible. The output of the simulation (ASCII point clouds) is also provided. For details see the provided README.txt file. The main aim of the study was to examine different laser scanning campaing setups with respect to understory tree height representation which is important, for example, for forestry or climate research

Source Code, Data and Additional Material for the Thesis: "Identification of Software Features in Issue Tracking System Data"

    No full text
This dataset provides the code and the data sets used in the PHD thesis "Identification of Software Features in Issue Tracking System Data" as well as the files that represent the results measured in experiments. For problem studies (e.g. chapters 10 and 11) the folders include the raw data and the data annotations as well as the tools used to extract the data. For solution studies (e.g. chapters 14, 15, and 16) the folders include the raw data, tools used to extract the data, the gold standards, the code to process the data and finally the experiment results. This archive contains one folder per chaper and every folder again contains a README.md file describing its contents: Chapter10: SOFTWARE FEATURES IN ISSUE TRACKING SYSTEMS – AN EMPIRICAL STUDY Chapter11: ISSUE TYPES AND INFORMATION TYPES – AN EMPIRICAL STUDY Chapter14: PREPROCESSING ISSUES – AN EMPIRICAL STUDY Chapter15: RECOVERING RELATED ISSUES IN ISSUE TRACKING SYSTEMS Chapter16: DETECTING SOFTWARE FEATURE REQUESTS IN ISSUES </ul

Promoting water consumption using behavioral economics insights [Dataset]

    No full text
Mexico has one of the largest overweight and obesity epidemics in the world and as a response, several actions aiming to reduce the obesity epidemic have been already set in place. Some of these actions include a specific action program for schools looking to turn the scholar environments into supportive environments for the infants to make healthier food choices. The influence of the environment (the so-called “choice architecture”) on people’s perceptions and decisions is studied by economists with the aim of supporting individuals’ to make healthier decisions, using tools known as “nudges”. However, "nudges" are not commonly integrated into anti-obesity strategies. We designed an intervention trying to find out whether such a small, liberty-preserving intervention could increase the effectiveness of a water-promotion campaign, when compared to the common approach of an educative talk. The intervention was developed in three schools in Mexico City and the State of Mexico. The body mass index, standardized by Z-scores, was used as the indicator of campaign success. Although – mainly due to problems within the sample and a yet too-short follow-up – our results do not show considerable differences between the approaches, they provide insights suggesting that including “nudges” into a health promoting campaign may indeed have a positive impact

Process fairness, outcome fairness, and dynamic consistency: experimental evidence for risk and ambiguity [Dataset]

    No full text
Literature on fairness preferences distinguishes between outcome fairness, concerning the final allocation of payoffs, and process fairness, concerning the expected allocation of payoffs. It is not obvious, however, whether process fairness can consistently be implemented. Once uncertainty is resolved and outcomes are determined, the ex-ante procedurally fair decision maker may become consequentialist ex-post, and reconsider her choice on the basis of the observed outcomes. We present experimental evidence on dynamic consistency of social preferences under both known risk and ambiguity. A significant share of people subscribe to process fairness both before and after the resolution of uncertainty
