COVID-19 pandemic’s broadcast media messages’ consumption in rural community and behavioral change
This study adopts FGDs as a research method. The discussion process was conducted in four different quarters that make up the community with 25 participants. Four research questions were formulated to guide the course of investigation. The findings of the study showed that a large portion of the community members are exposed to media messages on COVID-19 through the television. The findings also showed that, the community people particularly the educated ones watch TV on cable (GOTV and Startimes) and these are the people who shared information with family members, interpret it and take positive actions. While those who cannot read or write watch local NTA Auchi. These group of persons are few and mainly among the illiterate who source for news in local language. Â A smaller proportion of the sample also affirmed that they do not watch TV or listen to radio for COVID-19 information due to hunger. This group maintained that they only watch Zee World channel. The findings also showed that no group talked about radio with emphasis. It is therefore, agreed that the rural community people in Iyamho do not depend on radio for information including COVID-19 information. In conclusion, the researchers agreed that rural dwellers of Iyamho are exposed to COVID-19 information on TV and the information has shaped their behavior by their interpretation of the messages received. The researchers also conclude that, radio is no longer fashionable in the rural community. It is therefore, recommended that subsequent studies on rural dwellers media message consumption should painstakingly interrogate the influence of social media. Again, in the future, if there is need for health awareness campaign, the government and health agencies should consider the use of traditional media to pass the information across to rural dwellers since illiterate folks still exit in the rural communities. TV information on health matters should be translated in rural languages on TV stations that are on GOTV and Startimes cables.Â
Robot Operating System (ROS) in Quadcopter Flying Robot Using Telemetry System
In this study implementing odometry using RVIZ on a quadcopter flying robot that uses the Pixhawk Cube firmware version 3.6.8 as the sub-controller. Then the Lenovo G400 laptop as the main-controller as well as the Ground Control Station using the ubuntu 16.04 Linux operating system. The ROS platform uses the Kinetic and MAVROS versions as a quadcopter platform package using MAVlink communication with the telemetry module. The odometry system was tested using Rviz as navigation for Quadcopter movements in carrying out movements that follow movement patterns in certain shapes and perform basic robot movements. Data were collected using a standard measuring instrument inclinometer as a measurement of the slope of the robot and visualization RVIZ as a visual display of the odometric robot. The results of the research obtained are that the flying robot can maneuver according to the shape on the RVIZ according to the movements carried out directly at the airport, as well as the effect of the roll angle on the quadcopter (negative left roll, positive right) and the pitch angle on the quadcopter (negative forward pitch, the pitch returns positive)
Soft Pneumatic Exoskeleton for Wrist and Thumb Rehabilitation
A huge population of the world is suffering from various kinds of disabilities that make basic daily activities to be challenging. The use of robotics for limb rehabilitation can assist patients to recover faster and reduce therapist to patient ratio. However, the main problems with current rehabilitation robotics are the devices are bulky, complicated, and expensive. The utilization of pneumatic artificial muscles in a rehabilitation system can reduce the design complexity, thus, making the whole system light and compact. This paper presents the development of a new 2 degree of freedom (DOF) wrist motion and thumb motion exoskeleton. A light-weight 3D printed Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) material is used to fabricate the exoskeleton. The system is controlled by an Arduino Uno microcontroller board that activates the relay to open and close the solenoid valve to actuate the wrist. It allows the air to flow into and out of the pneumatic artificial muscles (PAM) based on the feedback from the sliding potentiometer. The mathematical model of the exoskeleton has been formulated using the Lagrange formula. A Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controller has been implemented to drive the wrist extension-flexion motion in achieving the desired set-points during the exercise. The results show that the exoskeleton has successfully realized the wrist and thumb movements as desired. The wrist joint tracked the desired position with a maximum steady-state error of 10% for 101.45áµ’ the set point
The dramaturgy of gambang semarang art company (GSAC) a strategy towards tourism art
This research answers how the dramaturgical innovation of the Gambang Semarang Art Company (GSAC) performance is to go to tourism. The main objective is to explain GSAC's strategy in dealing with the tourism industry through dramaturgical innovation. This study uses a qualitative interpretive research method. Data were obtained through interviews and performance observations. The results showed that the Dadung Kepuntir story GSAC performance-inspired innovation and brought out new creativity. In addition, it gave rise to a form of presentation to enrich the repertoire of Gambang Semarang performances. The GSAC community is fully aware of the need for the arts for tourism. This can be seen from the approach to the show, which uses an aesthetic approach to commercialism. The aesthetics of commercialism is stated as the principles of managing the art forms of Gambang Semarang performed by the Gambang Semarang Art Company based on the attractiveness, fascination, and provocation of the attention of the mass audience of Gambang Semaran
Declining idealism: A study of higher education teacher’s beliefs about grading decision making
This study aimed to unpack higher education teachers’ beliefs about grading decision making. A qualitative approach was employed in this study to answer the research question. In-depth semi-structured interview as the main data collecting technique was utilized to gather any information from higher education teachers. Four higher education teachers with different educational backgrounds and teaching experiences volunteered to be the participants. Three main themes were generated from the data i.e., the factors considered in grading decision making, the most challenging parts in grading, and handing students’ complaints about grades. This study indicates that developing assessment rubrics, discussing them with students, and documenting them in the learning contract may be effective strategies for teachers to remind the students of the course requirements to reach minimum criteria of mastery learning
Is a triangle 180 degrees? Using relevant material to explore elementary school students’ reasoning ability
Students’ proof construction is one of the important abilities in learning mathematical knowledge. To understand the development of Students’ proof construction of the fourth-grade students in Guilin, 15 fourth-grade students were selected to conduct an exploration activity about the sum of the inner angles of a triangle is equal to 180°. Through the observation and interview with students in the activities, we conclude that the reasonable ability of excellent students has coherence and integrity, the middle level students’ proof construction is ordinary and still need to improve, and the Low Students’ proof construction students are weak, and it is difficult to understand the research object. The teacher must have a creative and interesting method to teach students to improve Students’ proof construction from the research process and results
Microcontroller Implementation, Chaos Control, Synchronization and Antisynchronization of Josephson Junction Model
The microcontroller implementation, chaos control, synchronization, and antisynchronization of the nonlinear resistive-capacitive-inductive shunted Josephson junction (NRCISJJ) model are reported in this paper. The dynamical behavior of the NRCISJJ model is performed using phase portraits, and time series. The numerical simulation results reveal that the NRCISJJ model exhibits different shapes of hidden chaotic attractors by varying the parameters. The existence of different shapes of hidden chaotic attractors is confirmed by microcontroller results obtained from the microcontroller implementation of the NRCISJJ model. It is theoretically demonstrated that the two designed single controllers can suppress the hidden chaotic attractors found in the NRCISJJ model. Finally, the synchronization and antisynchronization of unidirectional coupled NRCISJJ models are studied by using the feedback control method. Thanks to the Routh Hurwitz stability criterion, the controllers are designed in order to control chaos in JJ models and achieved synchronization and antisynchronization between coupled NRCISJJ models. Numerical simulations are shown to clarify and confirm the control, synchronization, and antisynchronization
Collaboration in the arts for interdisciplinary practice at the Institut Kesenian Jakarta, Indonesia
In recent years, the interdisciplinary approach to art has gained popularity in the field of art studies. Numerous art studies transcend creative disciplines, allowing for the production of novel ideas and works. This study aims to understand the multidisciplinary art and design processes at the Institut Kesenian Jakarta. The data were acquired by observation and a review of the literature. Observations were made in order to collect field data about the work of art. This observation method was employed while visiting numerous exhibitions and performances at the Institut Kesenian Jakarta, and the literature was sourced by reading articles published in foreign magazines. The examination focuses on the difficulty inherent in diverse art practices. This study discovered that collaborative work increases the process of knowledge exchange between members and groups. As a result, an art ecosystem is developed from the standpoint of art creation and study. This research contributes to the discovery of new creative models or value chains and the provision of fundamental knowledge to develop a diverse art ecosystem. Art colleges can also contribute to interdisciplinary understanding and culture by fostering knowledge and abilities in art creation that are applicable across fields and are not constrained by the nomenclature of a single 'subject of arts
Factors obstructing the application of student-centered education at schools in Azerbaijan
Involvement of children with special educational needs in inclusive education at schools of general education in the Republic of Azerbaijan is one of the priority issues of the state. Many reforms in the education system, particularly at schools, need to be carried out to promote inclusive education. This research emphasizes the importance of implementing the student-centered education approach in the general education system to make schools inclusive in the country. As a ground for this, the article, having cited from scientific papers of different researchers, points out that, for example, a student-centered education allows a school to meet the different needs of students and take the specifics of each student into consideration. The level of progress of student-centered learning was assessed in the conducted research through studying teachers’ instructional methods at schools operating in the education system of Azerbaijan. As a result of the survey and focus group discussions conducted with teachers within this research, it was revealed that although teachers understand the positive impact of a student’s learning through student-centered methods, in most classes, they continue teaching lessons in a teacher-centered style due to several school or out-of-school factors. The result is that teacher-centered classes still being conducted at schools are not only the incompetency of teachers, but as a result, it is not possible to achieve the development of student-centered learning by improving only teachers’ skills. Many factors obstruct the change from teacher-centered learning to student-centered learning in the classroom. The identification of school culture and the classification of culture-forming factors are also discussed in this research
