    Get PDF
It is obvious that the current era has received much attention in the fields of science and technology, besides the continuous endeavor to provide environmentally friendly and resource-saving alternatives for conventional energy conversion systems. The rapid development of Wind Energy Conversion Systems (WECS) has made Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) a primer choice because of its advantages. The current trend on WECS necessitates wind turbines to maintain continuous operation during voltage drops, which is referred to as Low Voltage Ride Through (LVRT). The PMSG control technique is a widely used approach for improving conversion efficiency as well as LVRT capability. This paper provides LVRT and power enhancement for grid-connected PMSG based WECS using control techniques. The LVRT capability has been investigated by using PI and Residue controllers. The simulation results show improved active power delivery and better LVRT capability during voltage dips when the Residue controller is implemented

Treatment of Bone Marrow Cancer Based on Model Predictive Control

    Get PDF
Bone marrow is a spongy tissue that contains stem cells that are found inside some bones, including the hip and femur. Bone marrow cancer is a type of cancer that is caused by stem cells that make up the blood cells in the bone marrow. Sometimes these cells grow too fast or abnormally, which is called bone marrow cancer. Bone tissue cells are mainly composed of osteoblasts and osteoclasts. Osteoblast cells constantly build new bone throughout the life of each bone, and other cells called osteoclasts constantly absorb pieces of bone, so the bone is constantly being renewed. In this paper, mathematical models of tumors, the effect of the body on the drug, and the drug on the body are introduced, and then the appropriate dose of the drug to reduce tumor density is calculated using the model predictive control (MPC) algorithm. To obtain an adaptive MPC strategy, the extended least squares (ELS) method developed to learn the parameters of the tumor growth model is used. Finally, the simulation in MATLAB, assuming the model is correct, shows that the tumor is gone, and the bone mass improves over a period of time. The results demonstrate that the proposed method is effective for the treatment of bone marrow cancer

Knowledge representation of drug using ontology alignment and mapping techniques

    Get PDF
Drug searches are still based on drug names and brands, making it difficult for patients to come looking for a cure by saying that they feel sick. Likewise, when looking for drugs and information about their content to avoid overdose errors when changing drugs when drugs are supposed to be unavailable. Based on the issues raised, a study was conducted on applying semantic web ontology to search for drugs that can appear based on patients’ names, compositions, or complaints of diseases. Protégé 5.5 serves to represent drug information based on knowledge. The application uses Netbeans with Jena API as a library and creates data and drug information on the semantic web. Drug search also uses similar in-formation meaning based on user knowledge. By representing knowledge on the search for drug and disease information with semantic web ontology technology, it can meet the purpose of research, namely to improve drug and disease information search following the user’s wishes

Tracing the bongkel: bamboo music of rural farmers in Banyumas, Central Java, Indonesia

    Get PDF
Bongkel is the music of a farming community that developed in Gerduren Village, Purwajati, Banyumas, Central Java. This music only uses a four-tone slendro tuning. The current condition is that it is very difficult to find bongkel players; if there is no tracking of information about the history of bongkel, then in the future, it will be very difficult to find important information about bongkel. The purpose of this research is to trace and document the bongkel, from the side of its early history to its musicological review. The research method used is observation and interviews to explore oral sources. The use of oral sources is done because, until now have never received written data that specifically discusses bamboo music, especially in the Banyumas language. The interview focused on Kasmudi, Ibu Kunes, Maryadi Kresek and several other informants who were selected as sources, especially Kasmudi (a bongkel player) because he was the perpetrator the main witness. Kasmudi is the fourth generation of his entire family, which is a bongkel player on average. There are three types of data analyzed, including the history of the appearance of the bongkel, organology data, and musicological data. The grouping of data is done based on the three types of data, and the analysis is done by referring to the grouping of the three types of data. The results of this study found that the strongest characteristic of bongkel music is the imbal technique; besides that, bongkel is one of the musical instruments that became the forerunner to the development of angklung buncis, krumpyung, and calung music. The contribution of this research provides important information for the interest of Banyumas musical studies, especially for the development of bamboo musi

A Comparative Study of Nonlinear Control Schemes for Induction Motor Operation Improvement

    Get PDF
In the objective of improving the performance of induction motor operation and ensuring a robust control against different uncertainties and external disturbances, especially at low-speed regions, this research highlights the main features of two nonlinear control techniques. First, the control design is based on the backstepping approach (BSA) with integral action, and then the sliding mode control (SMC) theory. The BSA principle is to define successive causal relations in order to construct the control law in a recursive and systematic way. This allows overcoming the obstacle of the higher-order system's dimension. SMC is designed to drive and then constrain the system state to lie within a neighborhood of the switching surface, this provides very strong and inherent robustness to the resulting controllers. The main reason behind developing the nonlinear control techniques is to ensure a decoupled control of the machine. Besides, it guarantees the stability of the overall system by tracking the speed reference with the fewest static error. Moreover, as the sensorless control increases the reliability and decreases the cost of the control system, an extended Kalman filter is implemented to improve speed and flux observation. The simulations of all the discussed results have been obtained by MATLAB/Simulink

Pulse Width Modulation Analysis of Five-Level Inverter- Fed Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors for Electric Vehicle Applications

    Get PDF
In recent times, intense research has been focused on the performance enhancement of permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) for electric vehicle (EV) applications to reduce their torque and current ripples. Permanent magnet synchronous motors are widely used in electric vehicle systems due to their high efficiency and high torque density. To have a good dynamic and transient response, an appropriate inverter topology is required. In this paper, a five-level inverter fed PMSM for electric vehicle applications, realized via co-simulation in an electromagnetic suite environment with a reduced stator winding current of PMSM via the use of in-phase disposition (PD) pulse width modulation (PWM) techniques as the control strategy is presented. The proposed topology minimizes the total harmonic distortion (THD) in the inverter circuit and the motor fed and also improves the torque ripples and the steady-state flux when compared to conventional PWM techniques. A good dynamic response was achieved with less than 10A stator winding current, zero percent overshoot, and 0.02 second settling time synchronization. Thus, the stator currents are relatively low when compared to the conventional PWM. This topology contribution to the open problem of evolving strategies that can enhance the performance of electric drive systems used in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), mechatronics, and robotic systems
