    Numerical Simulation of Non-toxic ZnSe Buffer Layer to Enhance Sb2S3 Solar Cell Efficiency Using SCAPS-1D Software

    The use of renewable energy, especially solar photovoltaic, has grown more and more necessary in the context of the diversification of the use of natural resources. Sb2S3 is emerged as an attractive candidate for today's thin-film solar cells due to its band gap of 1.65 eV and high absorption coefficient greater than 105 cm-1. Cadmium Sulfide is the most commonly used buffer layer material in thin film solar cells, but cadmium is a metal that causes severe toxicity in humans and the environment. This article tried to avoid cadmium for solar cell generation. This paper presents the findings of a computer simulation analysis of a thin film solar cell based on a p-type Sb2S3 absorber layer and an n-type ZnSe buffer layer in a structure of (Sb2S3/ZnSe/i-ZnO/ZnO: Al) utilizing simulation software (SCAPS-1D). The simulation included detailed configuration optimization for the thickness of the absorber layer, buffer layer, defect density, temperature, and series-shunt resistance. In this work, the Efficiency (η), Fill Factor (FF), Open-circuit Voltage (Voc), and short-circuit current (Jsc) have been measured by varying thickness of absorber layer in the range of 0.5µm to 4 µm and by varying thickness of buffer layer in the range of 0.05 µm to 0.1µm. The optimized solar cell shows an efficiency of 20.03% when the absorber layer thickness is 4µm and the buffer layer thickness is 0.08µm

    Mascot: An alternate method to prevent the misuse of visual assets in Indonesia's Covid 19 prevention campaign

    This article discusses the use of visual assets during the covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. There are regulations related to restrictions on movement for everyone during the pandemic, and there is much confusion in information, resulting in information chaos, and one of the reasons is the inappropriate use of visual assets as a medium for the Covid-19 prevention campaign in Indonesia. This study aims to identify the misuse of these visual assets. This study uses visual data spread on social media and observation to examine billboards, banners, and the like scattered in the community. In addition to visual data, interviews were also conducted with graphic designers. The questions asked were about the reasons for determining the design and their motivation in utilizing visual assets. The analysis is carried out by building relationships between the designs created, the use of visual assets, and contextual relationships with other interests outside the substance of the Covid 19 prevention campaign program in Indonesia. The results of the study show that visual assets are not used proportionally in conveying the Covid-19 prevention campaign in Indonesia. The conclusion is that there is no policy that provides direction regarding the provisions for the use of visual assets in preventing the Covid-19 health disaster in Indonesia. This research contributes to the government because this research finds a rule model for the use of visual assets in Indonesi

    Bandīś-s in khayÄl of Indian classical music: a study of selected song-texts with special reference to the bandīś-s of sadÄraṇg in Hindustani music

    Melody is the soul of Indian classical music. A musician presents different captivating melodic motions of a certain set of notes, showing their diverse permutations and combinations as well as their hidden beauty. This melodic exposition decorates the mind with several melodic expressions and embellishments and is hence referred to as RÄg – which brings aesthetic pleasure. The main objective of this research is the presentation and style of certain rags, as well as the improvisation of the melodic structure. The data obtained by recording the song's melody audio technique and watching the concert live and all of them will be used to analyze and check the composition of the song. The musical analysis is carried out with respect to RÄg. This is because a composition like a mirror reflects a complete picture of an RÄg. It reveals and also retains its characteristics, such as its ascending and descending notes, its dominating notes, other sub-dominant notes, its intricacies, and its special combination of notes, i.e., svara-sañgati. The different Bandīś-s in an RÄg highlight the different aspects and shades in which it can be rendered. The results of this study indicate that compositions in Indian music are a combination of traits that includes the aspects of the musical structure, vocal style and techniques, instrumentation, rhythmic style, and poetry. Bandīś in KhyÄl of Hindustani music refers to the text of the composition. The text is marked by the elegant use of words.     Prediction of Indonesian presidential candidates in 2024 using sentiment analysis and text search on Twitter

    This study aims to show whether Twitter analysis can predict and forecast candidates in the Indonesian presidential election in 2024. This study was conducted long before the election began. To reduce the gap and utopian attitude in analyzing, two forms of analysis were used at once, namely sentiment analysis and text searches on Twitter data. This study uses a quantitative approach with descriptive content analysis. The data was obtained from Twitter social media, with Twitter Search focusing on official accounts and topics surrounding the 2024 presidential election. The search and data collection first adjusted to the trend of poll results spread in online news. The trend resulting from the poll is used to adjust the names of candidates to be searched for on Twitter search. The analysis tool used also utilizes the Nvivo 12 Plus analysis software. This study succeeded in mapping out three potential candidates in the 2024 election, namely Anies Baswedan, Ganjar Pranowo, and Prabowo Subianto. The mapping of potential candidates also has correspondence with the results of opinion polls in newspapers. From these findings, the information and data on Twitter help make predictions and an alternative to using the poll method. The drawback of this study lies in the limited use of time, so it is recommended that further research be carried out to collect and analyze similar data regularly until the election period. This may indicate that Twitter can predict earlier or better than polls

    Techno-Economic Analysis of a 12-kW Photovoltaic System Using an Efficient Multiple Linear Regression Model Prediction

    Renewable energy sources are expected to replace traditional energy sources such as oil and gas in the future. It goes without saying that solar energy has been demonstrated to be a key source of green energy. Solar energy is used because it is abundant, pollution-free, and easily available. However, the power utility market requires highly exact solar energy forecasts. These challenges need the creation of a device that can precisely predict solar energy output via processing the location's weather data, which is accomplished through the use of machine learning and multiple linear regression (MLR). Some elements, such as the number of cloudy days, humidity, temperature, wind condition, and precipitation, should be addressed while simulating solar power output. In this paper, a 12-kW photovoltaic (PV) system on the rooftop of a house in Isfahan was studied using the System Advisor Model (SAM). The most significant research contribution of the proposed paper is to predict the output power of a solar system with the lowest possible error. According to the simulation results, by using the MLR model, the predicted power has an error of 6 % with the actual power, which is a very good estimation. In addition, this system meets each household's energy needs plus an additional 8430 kWh per year, resulting in being paid by utility companies, a fewer number of outages, and lower air pollution levels

    Design a New Multiport DC-DC Converter to Charge an Electric Car

    Due to the lack of oil and gas, electric cars have been in high demand in recent years. There are three kinds of electric vehicles, including Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV), Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV).  There is no charging portion for the batteries in the HEV where the batteries are not connected to the power grid, but BEV and PHEV can be charged by a power outlet, and the number of batteries is increased. In order to charge the battery of the Electric Vehicles (EVs), there are two ways, including the power grid and renewable energies. There are already quite a few outages in many countries, and using a power grid for charging the batteries is not suitable. Therefore, the only choice is renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic (PV), fuel-cell (FC), and so on. Furthermore, to use the DC voltage of the renewable sources, two conventional DC-DC converters are required to deliver the energy of the sources to the bank of batteries. To feed the batteries, this paper proposes a two-input one output topology that contains PV, FC, and other components. Simulation results demonstrate that the presented system is improving the system because it is able to feed the batteries with low power losses and low ripples

    Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) Tuning of PID Control on DC Motor

    The use of DC motors is now common because of its advantages and has become an important necessity in helping human activities. Generally, motor control is designed with PID control. The main problem that is often discussed in PID is parameter tuning, namely determining the value of the Kp, Ki, and Kd parameters in order to obtain optimal system performance. In this study, one method for tuning PID parameters on a DC motor will be used, namely the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) method. Parameter optimization using the PSO method has stable results compared to other methods. The results of tuning the PID controller parameters using the PSO method on the MATLAB Simulink obtained optimal results where the value of Kp = 8.9099, K = 2.1469, and Kd = 0.31952 with the value of rise time of 0.0740, settling time of 0.1361 and overshoot of 0. Then the results of hardware testing by entering the PID value in the Arduino IDE software produce a stable motor speed response where Kp = 1.4551, Ki= 1.3079, and Kd = 0.80271 with a rise time value of 4.3296, settling time of 7.3333 and overshoot of 1

    Exploration of Applying Lego NXT and Arduino in Situated Engineering Teaching: A Case Study of a Robotics Contest at King Saud University

    Saudi students in engineering courses suffer from a lack of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) knowledge due to the teaching philosophy and programs offered in secondary and intermediate schools. This weakness naturally impacts their motivation, grades, and their relationship with teachers. In this paper, we introduce a new experimental teaching experience in the Applied Mechanical Department of the Applied Engineering College of King Saud University, based on situated learning theory, which emphasizes that knowledge must be learned in constructed situational context). This experience involved introducing Lego NXT and Arduino to enhance the enthusiasm and interest of students through designing and building robots in agreement with the “Introduction to design†course syllabus. Two experimental challenges were associated with: the line-follower problem and the maze problem. These challenges took the form of an internal completion at the end of each semester. The experience was conducted for two consecutive terms (30 students, the academic year 2019-2020), and the results were compared to those in six previous terms (100 students, academic years from 2016 to 2019). The experimental group demonstrated grades improvement (course mean grade rose from 77.1 to 85.3), the progress of academic achievement, and interest that enables them to actively explore and construct knowledge

    MRAC Adaptive Control Design for an F15 Aircraft Pitch Angular Motion Using Dynamics Inversion and Fractional-Order Filtering

    This study proposes a fractional adaptive control scheme design for a longitudinal pitch angular motion control of a military F15 aircraft. The aircraft behavior will be forced to follow a chosen model reference in an MRAC (Model Reference Adaptive Control) configuration combined with dynamics inversion technique such that the transient response becomes invariant even in the presence of uncertainties or variations for a reference input by introducing a fractional-order transfer function pre-filter. Based on Lyapunov theory, the updating control law minimizes the error between the plant output and the model reference one. This controller is set in a cascade with a linear dynamic compensator. Simulation results on a military aircraft model with comparison to preceding results illustrate the effectiveness and the superiority of the proposed control strategy

    Time and cost efficiency without reducing quality is something that construction service providers always want to achieve in the implementation of project completion. Project work will be limited by cost and time in completion. Methods of controlling time and costs can assist the Project Manager in evaluating project performance and taking actions needed to achieve project objectives. This study is about the comparison of research articles that have been published previously using Meta-Analysis Review which aims to compare three methods that are often used in controlling time and cost, namely CPM (Critical Path Method), PERT Method (Project Evaluation Review Technique), and EVA Method (Earned Value Analysis). The results obtained from the review of this article that each method of controlling costs and time has advantages and disadvantages following their respective characteristics, with that we can know differences of each method. The study found that experience from the Project Manager is needed to choose the right method for implementing project work
