Publication trends related to Uses and Gratification Theory on social media
This analysis aims to analyze publication trends related to the Uses and Gratification Theory and social media in Scopus Journal Articles from 2019-2021. The Uses and Gratification Theory analyzes the genuine social and psychological needs that generate expectations for social media use. Nearly 50 years after, the Uses and Gratification Theory in today’s research is often used in social media. According to the result, most Uses and Gratification Theory articles came from the USA, followed by China, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, and India. Meanwhile, the top five most used keywords are social media (n=130), uses and gratifications (n=68), uses and gratifications theory (n=41), Facebook(n=26), and uses and gratification theory (n=18). To conclude, these number shows the trends of publication related to Uses and Gratification Theory, mostly about social media spanning from 2019-2021. Facebook is the social media most often mentioned, but in the future, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok, as younger media, could be used as an alternative research object. It also suggested the theme of fake news and its spread, entertainment satisfaction, the rise of mobile entertainment today, and artificial intelligence in media use
Continuity of resistance: indigenous participatory concepts in Purbalingga rural cinema culture
Purbalingga Regency, Central Java, is one area that has a unique and unique way of developing film-making. This article aims to find the concept of a participatory community approach in developing rural cinema through training/discussion programs, film production, and film screenings/Festivals from 2006 to the present. This study uses qualitative methods that include participatory, direct observation, and interviews with a data processing interactive analysis model. The results show that rural cinema encourages the empowerment of rural communities. Rural communities' high interest and participation in film activities are because the concept of cinema development comes from local cultural values (Banyumasan/Ngapak). Development and validation of competency-based research I workbook for distance learning
In a distance learning environment, the use of appropriate instructional material is an essential element of a successful teaching and learning process. Because of the pandemic, teachers were required to use the available learning resources to ensure learning continuity. In this paper, the main objective is to develop and validate instructional material that would assist teachers in delivering the lessons through a modular learning approach. A descriptive normative survey was utilized to determine the validity of the developed workbook for Research I. The results showed that the workbook met the prescribed requirements regarding adequacy, clarity, objectives, suitability, and usefulness. It was found to be adequate, clear, coherent, attainable, suitable, and useful for teachers and students as they discover learning through research. Thus, the workbook is recommended as instructional material in teaching the subject and promises a potential for a significant contribution to education and learning. Nearpod as a tool for increasing students’ motivation for learning chemistry
The Nearpod software application was implemented in chemistry teaching, thus keeping in touch with current technology appropriate for its use in the education. This is the first study in our country focusing on the usage of the Nearpod as an e-module-based learning media aimed to increasing students’ motivation in chemistry classes, through their engagement during the lesson and active participation. The total sample consisted of 244 9th grade students and 7 teachers from 7 primary schools. This research was based on data collection by modified SMTSL and IMI questionnaires and individual interviews with students and teachers. The data were analyzed and the mean, standard deviation and Cronbach’ alpha reliability coefficient were calculated, which revealed acceptable internal consistency for all subscales. Data obtained from the APQ-N instrument showed that most of the students found this activity enjoyable and interesting, and felt that it was important for their success and progress, but it also enabled them to achieve better results and improve their attention during the online classes. SMTSL-N questionnaire revealed that the students had medium motivation toward chemistry leaning overall. Independent t-tests results stated that there is no significant difference between male and female students’ mean scores. The results obtained in this study, including the interview data as well, indicated that Nearpod-based activities positively influenced students’ motivation in learning chemistry. Nearpod has a great potential to be applied during the face-to-face teaching as a hybrid model in the future, thus making teaching more interesting and less monotonous
Using learning analytics to improve the educational design of MOOCs
In recent years, the interest in Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and Learning Analytics research have highly increased in the areas of educational technologies. The emergence of new learning technologies requires new perspectives on Educational Design. When the areas of MOOCs, Learning Analytics and Instructional Design developed, the interest and connection between these three concepts became important for research. Learning Analytics provides progress information and other individualized support in MOOC settings where teachers are not able to provide learners with individual attention, which would be possible in a traditional face-to-face setting. Through collective views over the learning process, the overall progress and performance are indicated. Moreover, results can lead to Educational Design improvements. Every time a learner interacts with the system, data is created and collected. Many Educational Designers do not take advantage of this data and thereby, losing the possibility to impact the course design in a powerful way. This research work strongly focuses on the implication of Learning Analytics for Educational Design in MOOCs. Many methods and algorithms are used in the analytical learning process in MOOCs. Currently, a great variety of learning data exists. First, well-known Instructional Design patterns from different models were collected and listed. In a second step, through the collected data is used to point out which of these patterns can be answered by using Learning Analytics methods. The findings of the study show that it is possible to better understand which environments and experiences are best suited for learning by analyzing students' behaviors online. These results have great potential for a rapidly and easier understanding and optimization of the learning process for educators
High school students’ achievement goal adoption: Evidence from neglected rural high schools in Iran
The study aimed to examine rural high schoolers’ achievement goal preferences and the potential gender variations in a neglected rural context in Iran. To this end, a sample of 252 high schoolers answered Elliott and Murayama’s (2008) Achievement Goal Questionnaire-Revised (AGQ-R). Quantitative results indicated the prevalence of mastery approach (MAp) and performance approach (PAp) goals, followed by performance avoidance (PAv) and mastery avoidance (MAv) goals. Further, an examination of gender differences indicated no significant differences between male and female high schoolers in their adoption of MAp, PAp and MAv goals. However, a significant difference was observed between male and female students in their resort to PAv goal. Results may have implications for different individuals in educational settings such as educational authorities, teachers, and counselors as well as researchers

Implementation of simple additive weighting (SAW) in determining nutrition in toddlers
The stunting or malnutrition in toddlers are the main problems facing society today[1]. Also, the fact that these young children experience lack of adequate nourishment in Indonesia is quite indisputable. Handling nutritional problems is closely related to the strategy of a nation to create healthy, intelligent and productive human resources. Efforts to improve quality human resources begin with how to manage children's growth as part of a family with good nutrition and care For this reason, this study takes part in supporting the alleviation of cases of malnutrition by using the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) Method which is used to find the optimal alternative from a number of alternative criteria. The basic concept of SAW is to find the weighted sum of the performance ratings for each alternative across all attributes[2]. The SAW method requires a decision matrix normalization process (X) to a scale that can be compared with all alternative ratings[3]. The SAW method recognizes 2 attributes, namely the benefit criteria and the cost criteria. The method used was Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) which consists of 2 criteria, namely Height (TB) and Weight (BW) according to age for toddlers. The implementation of independent curriculum on mover schools
This research aims to describe the implementation of independent curriculum-based learning in mover schools. This research used a qualitative approach. The type of research used is phenomenology. The subjects of this study were selected based on purposive considerations. The participants of this study were targeted representatives of principals, teachers, students, and the relevant communities. Data collection in this study was carried out using interviews, observations, and documentation. The data was collected based on the needs of the research topic, namely independent curriculum-based learning in mover schools. The data of this study were analyzed using qualitative analysis techniques in the form of interactive analysis. The results of this study, one of the driving schools has implemented an independent curriculum. This can be seen from several key aspects of the independent curriculum, namely 1) the flow of learning objectives, 2) learning scenarios, 3) learning media that contain elements of TPACK, 4) Student Worksheets, and 5) the evaluation used. This can be used as a reference in the implementation of the independent curriculum, which in several schools is still trying to find the best pattern in its application in order to achieve the desired educational and learning goals
Concept of Operations as a Boundary Object for Knowledge Sharing in the Design of Robotic Swarms
Designing a swarm of autonomous robots for commercial, military, or other purposes is a challenging engineering and human factors design effort. The challenges argue in favor of practices and tools for better integration of different engineering disciplines and for the advancement of communication between stakeholders with different interests. The Concept of Operations (ConOps) approach is widely used in Systems Engineering for this purpose. A ConOps is a high-level description of how the elements of a system and entities in its environment interact in order to achieve their stated goals. This paper will present the development of a ConOps for a swarm of autonomous robotic vehicles in the military domain to demonstrate how autonomic robotic swarms can be deployed in different military branches in the future. The proposed ConOps can be considered as a boundary object in the design, validation, or procurement of an autonomous robotic swarm system. We also propose that the ConOps should be maintained throughout the system life-cycle as an overview description and definition of overall goals and policies
