Analysis of Speech Acts by Gender and Age in Peer Assessment
3855This paper examines the language used by students in the peer assessment
of a presentation. The language is categorized into speech acts and then
compared by gender and age to investigate for both similarities and differences.
The cause of any similarities or differences is then explored in the final section.
Participants showed a preference for providing positive feedback in the form of
speech acts classified as compliments while negative evaluations classified as
criticisms and suggestions only made up about a quarter of the total speech
acts. Neither gender nor age appeared to be a significant factor influencing
language. Instead it is proposed the context of the task as well as other identity
factors and studentsʼ perceptions of their abilities contributed to linguistic
performance. Finally recommendations about utilizing peer assessment are
made.departmental bulletin pape
Research on the Educational Effect of Learning Support Program Construction ― Achievements Obtained by Peer Supporters of Undergraduate Students Supporting Each Other in a Study Session for Obtaining a Certified Psychologist Qualification ―
3856The purpose of this study was to construct a program to enhance learning
support in study groups of students wanting to become licensed as certified
psychologists and clinical psychologists, and to examine the effectiveness of the
undergraduate student peer supporters. In study 1,we analyzed the data of 258
students. The result showed that people who prefer to do something for others
for their own personal growth and people who strongly regard the pleasure of
others as their own may increase their self-esteem and self-efficacy by
providing support. In study 2 we introduced a peer support system, working
with a licensed psychologist and a clinical psychologist, in which
undergraduates engaged with each other in a mutually supportive manner and
took on the roles of both supporter and supported. As a result, changes such as
higher self-esteem and acquisition of positive skills were confirmed.departmental bulletin pape

Federalism in the Federal Republic of Austria ― The division of responsibilities between Bund and Länder ― (16)
3759A federal state consists of smaller individual states, nine in Austria, and responsibility for legislation, administration and jurisdiction are divided between the states and the federation.
This paper examines the Federalism in the Federal Republic of Austria, chiefly the division of functions between Bund, the federal state, and Länder, the individual states.
Firstly, we see the main provisions of the Austrian Constitution(Bundes-Verfassungsgesetz〔B-VG〕)related to these functions, namely Articles 10-15, which show clearly the centralization of Austrian Federalism in comparison with that of Germany or Switzerland.
Secondly, we see the participation of Länder in the legislation or administration of Bund, and the co-operation of Bund with the legislation or administration of Länder.
Thirdly, we see examine the control and compulsory execution of Bund on Länder.
Lastly, we examine the relations between the constitution of Bund and that of Länder.departmental bulletin pape
Kanzou Uchimura and His Age(3) ― The conflict between the rights of the people and those of the state ―
3743This article deals with the differing attitudes of japanese christian leaders like Kanzo Uchimura, Masahisa Uemura and Danjo Ebina towards the Sino-Japanese war( 1894), Russo-Japanese war( 1904) and the Annexation of Korea (1910).
All three christian leaders supported the Sino-Japanese war based upon the dichotomies between “civilization and progress versus savagery”, “liberty versus oppression”. They regarded this war from the viewpoint of an optimistic, progressive view of history.
However Kanzo Uchimura gradually came to consider that this war had brought the spiritual collapse of Japanese people and to regard it as an imperialistic venture. So he appealed to pacifism and advocated against the Russo-Japanese war and the Annexation of Korea. On the other hand, Masahisa Uemura and Danjyo Ebiba supported the war against Russia and resulting annexation of Korea.
This article traces the trajectory of these three christian leaders from the Sino-Japanese war to the Annexation of Korea and tries to clarify why such differences occurred.
Concerning the relationship between the rights of the people and the rights of the state, Kanzo Uchinura gave priority to the rights of the people, In opposition to Uchimura Masahisa Uemura shifted between the former and latter and Danjo Ebina insisted on the rights of the state at the expense of the rights of the people.departmental bulletin pape
Effect of Aqueous Extracts of Seaweed( Mozuku) on the Growth of Lactobacillus species in Probiotic Products
3824,3831,3832,2376A seaweed contains components that feed intestinal bacteria, and its relationship with obesity has also been suggested. Recently, probiotic products containing Lactobacillus species and prebiotics containing ingredients that feed the Lactobacillus have been developed. However, the effect of aqueous extracts of the seaweed on probiotics has not been examined. In this study, we investigated the effect of seaweed (Mozuku) extracts on growth of the Lactobacillus in probiotics.
As a result, it was shown that the mozuku water extract has the effect of growing the Lactobacillus contained in the probiotics.
The results of this study suggest that there is a relationship between BMI, frequency of seaweed intake and the gene mutation of β3ADR, and that this can contribute to the added value of food resources by using seaweed ingredients in probiotic products.departmental bulletin pape

Impact of Sports Activity on Cognitive Function of Female Athletes
3702, 3799, 3843, 3844In this era of rapid globalization, the use of smartphones and social
networking services has triggered various forms of stress in young people,
which could have a negative impact on their physical and mental health.
This study seeks to provide educational support for the health of university
students, by examining the potential of deep breathing for stress management,
which can be easily performed by anyone during university lectures.
The subjects included 12 third-year university students(4 males and 8
females; mean age 20.3±0.45 years). The lecture content was not structured
for stress management education.
Deep breathing was performed during 14 lectures, from the 2nd to the 15th
class. Subsequently, in the 2nd, 7th and 15th lectures, a questionnaire was
conducted to evaluate mood before and after deep breathing, using the Twodimensional
Mood Scale Short Term(TDMS-ST). The subjects were also asked
to freely express their ‘current mood and feelings’.
Consequently, the study found that deep breathing promoted subjective
mood effect in participants, especially a pleasant mood effect, and increased
relaxation. Conversely, there was no change in unpleasant moods before and
after deep breathing, suggesting that a few minutes of deep breathing had no
significant effect on unpleasant moods.
These results suggest that deep breathing can serve as an effective way to
increase pleasant moods in university students, and can be considered as one of
the most effective techniques for addressing the various forms of stress that
students face.departmental bulletin pape
Conditions for a“ Good Trip” in Terms of the Level of Tourist Knowledge and Skills
3048, 3845This study aimed to create a tourist knowledge and skills scale to determine
whether the conditions of a“ good trip”(i.e., a trip that brings about a sense of
satisfaction and fulfillment) differs depending on an individual’s tourist
knowledge and skills. An online survey was conducted with 500 people aged
between 20 and 69 years. The analysis of survey results revealed the following:
1) tourist knowledge and skills scale had a 5-factor structure 2) beginner and
middle-level tourists with limited tourist knowledge and skills acknowledged
that relaxing away from everyday life and eating delicious food were conditions
of a good trip. While on the contrary, expert tourists, with a high level of
tourist knowledge and skills, identified meeting and interacting with new
people and making discoveries as the prerequisites for a enjoyable traveling
experience. This paper discusses good tourism experiences for each knowledge
and skill level.departmental bulletin pape
