主部内在型関係節の成立条件についての一考察
Get PDFP(論文)Head internal relative clauses (IHRCs) have very interesting mismatches between their forms and positions; taking the form of a complement clause, which should denote an event, the IHRC is located in a position which an entity should occupy.
Because of this mismatches IHRCs are sometimes seen as ungrammatical constructions. In actual language use, however, we see a lot of IHRCs. So this paper studies under what conditions the IHRC constructions are acceptable despite the mismatches, and claims the condition is where the predicates which take IHRCs as their arguments can be interpreted as more abstract, taking not entities but events as their arguments.departmental bulletin pape
On Preventing the Birth of Children with Impairment
Get PDFP(論文)Official policies on prenatal diagnosis (PND) and preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) in Japan are substantially stricter than in many Western countries due partly to aggressive protests by some activists. They claim that PND and PGD followed by selective termination represent Nazi-like selection and devalue those living with disabilities. There are, however, some flaws in this so-called ‘expressivist argument.’ First, it grants unwittingly the moral status of born children to pre-embryos and fetuses. Second, it ignores the difference in kind and severity among various impairments which require specific treatment. Third, history shows that PND and PGD have developed hand in hand with the growing support for disability rights. Therefore, fourth, the fact that people with disabilities might feel offended does not suffice as a reason to override the reproductive rights of prospective parents who want to benefit from the modern technologies.departmental bulletin pape

Get PDFP(論文)In this paper, I explain why I don’t employ comparative methods for my research in school rituals, but use case studies. In the second chapter I describe school ritual research in English-speaking and in German-speaking countries. Then, in the third chapter I introduce the school ritual research in Japan and reflect on which kind of research is necessary for today. In the fourth chapter I handle the research on morning meetings in Japan and morning circles in Germany and position my research as a new approach to school ritual. I reach the conclusion that empirical research is necessary (1), that people should separate institutional rituals and the sudden ritual praxis of peer groups (2), and that video and photographs should be employed (3).departmental bulletin pape

Get PDFP(論文)This paper examines the Austrian Federal Constitution of 1920 (Österreichisches Bundes-Verfassungsgesetz 1920). This constitution lays the foundations of the current Austrian Federal Constitution. The eminent Austrian jurist Hans Kelsen made different constitution drafts, and several
Austrian political parties entered into heated controversies about these. Consequently, a range of views from Austrian people of that time are included in this constitution.
On the other hand, the 1920 Austria Federal Constitution also received important concepts such as popular sovereignty, constitutionalism, and equality before the law from the Kremsier Draft Constitution of 1849 (Kremsierer Verfassungsentwurf in 1849), which was written immediately after the Austrian March Revolution of 1848.

Get PDFP(論文)This article studies a judgement of the Supreme Court. X entered into a contract to rent a room from Y and left guaranty money with him. Several years later, X terminated the contract and was requested by Y to pay the amount of money specified in the contract. As a result of the court ruling, X did not have to pay the full amount of the guaranty money that he had left with Y. The Supreme Court handed down the judgement that this was legal as a general rule in the case of such contracts. The contents of this interesting judgement are studied with reference to several past judgements and the opinions of legal experts.departmental bulletin pape
