P(論文)This paper examines the features of onomatopoeia in Khmer in comparison with that of Japanese and English in terms of sound symbolism, and argues that the velar stop /k/ in the word initial in Khmer is associated with the hard surface of such objects as metal or concrete. I also argue that the glottal stop and aspiration in Khmer are associated with the meanings of words that are related to puffing. It is claimed that we find sound symbolism in onomatopoeias in Khmer as well as in Japanese and English.departmental bulletin pape

Eugenics from the Perspective of the Child

    Get PDF
P(論文)The eugenics movement that flourished in the early twentieth century is now denounced as morally wrong, whereas the liberal eugenics of today is endorsed by some ethicists because it is based on the decisions of parents and free from coercion. Both these views are based on the reproductive rights of parents. This paper aims to shed a new light on the two types of eugenics by taking account of the child’s right to an open future. First I illustrate that the forced sterilization of the past had an aspect of protecting children from disease or abuse that might be inflicted on them by their parents. Second, I argue that whereas the old eugenics did not harm offspring, the new one can be detrimental to children whose lives are restricted by traits imposed on them by their parents.departmental bulletin pape

The Austrian Federal Constitution of 1920 and Hans Kelsen - The Development of Austrian Constitutionalism (Legalitätsprinzip) -(4)

P(論文)This paper examines the Austrian Federal Constitution of 1920 (Österreichisches Bundes-Verfassungsgesetz 1920) which laid the foundation for the current constitution. The eminent Austrian jurist Hans Kelsen produced several draft constitutions, causing heated controversy among several political parties and resulting in a range of views from Austrian people being included in the 1920 Constitution. On the other hand, the 1920 Constitution also received important concepts such as popular sovereignty, constitutionalism, and equality before the law from the Kremsier Draft Constitution of 1849 (der Kremsierer Verfassungsentwurf in 1849) which was written immediately after the Austrian March Revolution of 1848. Here I describe the writing, contents and historical background of the 1920 Constitution and also the 1929 amendment, Hans Kelsen’s view and Austrian constitutionalism (Legalitätsprinzip).departmental bulletin pape

P(論文)The student’s self-evaluation of off-campus training was compared with evaluation by a training institution supervising instructor, high evaluation criteria and low evaluation criteria were analyzed, and the reasons investigated. Moreover, from these results, the problem of off-campus training and the state of prior instruction are examined, and improvement in evaluation of future off campus training and training methods to produce dietitians who can respond to society are examined. From the perspective of a leader making evaluations, improvement in cooking technology and improvement in the knowledge as a dietitian are called for, also a positive attitude to learning, a thirst of knowledge of the subject, and planning power are needed as basic abilities to work in society. In order to solve these problems, cooperation with instructors of other subjects is likely to be important.departmental bulletin pape

    日本人の危機管理意識の脆弱さに関する一考察

    Get PDF
Japanese weakness in crisis management consciousness has already explained by Atsuyuki Sasa, former Chief of the Cabinet Security Council, as part of the Japanese national character. Motohiko Izawa also clarified this weakness in terms of the law of reaction of the spirit of language (kotodama) to a negative prediction. This problem was also attributed by Masao Maruyama and Bunzo Hashikawa to a crippling of theoretical faith and real faith. In this paper I would like to explain Japanese weakness in crisis management consciousness by means of March and Simon’s “limits of cognitive rationality.” The Japanese tend to depend upon a sensual positivism whenever a scientific positivism is incapable of elucidating a phenomenon. At the bottom of this sensual positivism there seems an individualistic trust in spiritual beings as shown in Shinto belief. This is why the Japanese are inclined to wait for typhoons to go away instead of ringing alarm bells by stating annoying opinions on the issue to the public.departmental bulletin pape

    食文化に関する学習内容を取り入れた食育実践の効果 -小学校3年生を対象に教科と総合的な学習の時間を関連づけた実践-

P(論文)We examined the effects of nutrition education and the study of food culture in an integrated study of third grade elementary school students. The goal was to gain awareness about Japanese food culture and to cultivate feelings of gratitude toward food. The study focused on soy beans, making tofu, and learning the characteristics of Japanese food. We evaluated the results by analyzing worksheet descriptions and the results of a survey of eating habits before and after the education intervention. The worksheets included thoughts concerning the process of tofu-making and about traditional foods. Many students recorded reflections on their daily dietary habits. In the post survey, intake of soybeans, and attitudes to refusing traditional foods and reducing lunch plate waste were significantly improved. These results show that this study has helped raise awareness of Japanese food culture.departmental bulletin pape
