    フィリピンの地方ミュージアムについて アクラン州Museo It Akeanの例から

P(論文)Some features of a regional museum in the Philippines are examined using the case of Museo It Akean (Aklan Museum) in Aklan Province. It is not entirely a governmental entity but a semi-governmental, semi-private institution founded and supported by a religious foundation memorializing the first Filipino archbishop from the province. In spite of its half-private nature, it is deemed and expected to represent the local cultural heritage as if it were an official mission of the museum. Due to limited funding, the museum is operated with a minimal number of staff, and while fund-raising for the museum is a constant task for the foundation members, the curator shows great devotion to the work. It is supported by the enthusiastic love of the concerned people for their home province. The museum’s exhibition also seems to reflect the strong local pride and identity, which seem to be united and intensified with Filipino nationalism in a unique way.departmental bulletin pape

The Child’s Right to an Open Future and Religion

P(論文)Creating designer babies by genetic engineering is often denounced as imposing the parents’ needs and preferences on their offspring. Viewed in perspective, however, conventional child rearing often disregards child’s rights as well. This paper examines two cases concerning religious autonomy. First, Amish parents are allowed to deny their children two years of high school education required by law. As they offer alternative training at home, I argue that the truncated schooling does not necessarily compromise the child’s right. The second case is religious circumcision performed on boys. In 2012 a German court ruled that circumcision for non-medical reasons is unlawful because it violates a boy’s right to bodily integrity. Moreover, the irreversible mark infringes on his religious freedom. I therefore conclude that non-therapeutic circumcision on minors should not be tolerated at least in countries where the citizens can choose which religion they practice.departmental bulletin pape

The Choice of Accounting Bases of FPIs Listed in NYSE- IFRS or U.S. GAAP-

P(論文)This paper is concerned with the question of why and how FPIs decide to switch to IFRS or continue to use U.S.GAAP under national regulations. I investigated the number of accounting bases of FPIs listing in NYSE as of 31 December 2012. In this research, I find that the number of FPIs which have moved to adopt IFRS during the period 2010-2012 is increasing. This fact is consistent with the increase in the number of mandatory IFRS regulations. The results suggest that mandatory rather than optional IFRS regulations encouraged FPIs to adopt IFRS. I find also that FPIs choose U.S.GAAP in spite of double standards. This result suggests that some FPIs choose accounting bases after considering the expected costs and benefits. Accordingly, whether FPIs choose IFRS or U.S.GAAP depends on both cost-benefit assessments and their countries’ regulatory strategies.departmental bulletin pape

P(論文)Music scores have different styles of description in different editions of publications. When educating students, we should conduct lessons taking into account not only the designated score but also multiple scores from different publishers. Scores from five different publishers were compared according to their interpretations of music and the influence of the interpretation on the use of the fingers when playing the music.departmental bulletin pape

P(論文)We compared wet-bulb globe temperature (WBGT) as an integrated index of the thermal environment in outdoor and indoor sports activities. Measurements of globe temperature, relative humidity and air temperature for calculating WBGT were made every 30 minutes during the practice of women’s softball and volleyball teams at Osaka Int’l University from April to November. There were no significant group differences in WBGT between indoor and outdoor sports activities from the beginning of July to the middle of September. However, the globe temperature (during July - September) and air temperature (during August) were significantly higher outdoors than indoors. The relative humidity (during July and August) was significantly higher indoors than outdoors. These results suggest that countermeasures against the increases of humidity during indoor sports activity and of solar radiation during outdoor sports activity should be taken to prevent heat disorders.departmental bulletin pape

P(論文)This paper examines the Austrian Federal Constitution of 1934. The Austrian Federal Republic Constitution of 1929 did not bring satisfactory results for all Austrian people, but produced conflicts between some political parties. In such unstable political conditions, the federal government made an attempt to abolish Austrian democracy, and suspend parliament (Nationalrat) and the constitutional Court (Verfassungsgerichtshof). A new constitution(Verfassung 1934) was proclaimed on 1st May, 1934.This constitution was passed by a rump parliament(Rumpfparlament) composed of only the Government party. This constitution aimed at “a Christian, Germanic, federal state based on corporatism.” The president and the federal government exercised state power instead of parliament, which was an advisory body. On 13th March 1938, the Austrian federal State (Bundesstaat Österreich) Became one state (Land) in the Third German Empire because of the unification of the two nations, and Austria fell under the control of the legislative, administrative and judicial power of Germany.departmental bulletin pape

    帝国的人道主義:ワーグナーの反ユダヤ主義における国際的精神

    Get PDF
P(論文)The music of Wagner has been strongly criticized for its racial imperialism and inhumane nature rooted in anti-Zionism. Because of this, Israel had even effectively tabooed any performances of Wagner’s music until recently. A detailed examination, however, reveals that there was no connection between Wagner’s anti-Semitism and the atrocities conducted by the Nazis. And even though Wagner himself was undoubtedly a malicious anti-Zionist, we can understand that his works reflect internationalism with no links with racism. Such contradiction between the composer and his works is a good example of “contrapuntal reading,” which has been argued by Daniel Barenboim, who dared to play a Wagner piece in Israel, as well as by Edward Said. The performance can be understood, not as an ordinary musical event, but as an ironic social phenomenon along the lines of: imperialism is a means to realize the ideals of humanism or internationalism – issues which still confront us today.departmental bulletin pape
