Effects of Communication Skills and Social Support on University Students’ Quality of Life
Get PDFP(論文)The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of communication skills and social support on university students’ quality of life. Two hundred ten undergraduate students completed the WHOQOL26, which measures quality of life; the ENDCOREs scale, which measures general communication skills; and the social support scale. We used structural equation modeling to evaluate the hypothetical model. The model hypothesized a sequential linkage from communication skills directly to quality of life and a linkage from communication skills to quality of life through social support. Structural equation modeling revealed that communication skills had a significant positive effect on social support and quality of life. Further, communication skills positively affected quality of life directly and indirectly via social support. Specific communication skills such as expressivity, other acceptance, and regulation of interpersonal relationships enhanced quality of life via another subcomponent of social support, companionship.departmental bulletin pape

The Development of the Austrian Constitution since 1955― Amendments to the Constitution ―（４）
Get PDFP(論文)This paper examines the development of the Austrian Constitution since 1955. The Federal Republic of Austria declared “eternal neutrality” by enacting the Constitutional Law of 1955, but since then the Austrian Constitution has experienced great changes.
Firstly, the meaning of “eternal neutrality” changed along with changes in the international situation, such as Austria joining the United Nations in 1955, the European Union in 1995, and the end of the “cold war” indicated by the fall of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics in 1992.
Secondly, the rights of individuals and state (Land) were further strengthened by many amendments of the Constitution concerning federalism, democracy, fundamental rights, and courts (constitutional court, administrative court) which are the fundamental principles of the Austrian Constitution.
Thirdly, Austria joining the European Union added various rights and duties between Austrian organs of state and the European Union’s organs.

Construction of a Pandemic Model Using a Cellular Automaton (Part 1) Simulation of basic models
Get PDFP(論文)Almost all previous studies of disease infection models have used differential equations. A differential equation can show the change in the number of infected patients over time, but cannot show the route of infection. The model used in this paper applies a cellular automaton to an infection model. The advantage of this is that it can present the temporal route of infection. It is proposed that a basic small-size model would consist of 5×5 cells and introduce several rules. Several properties are drawn from the simulations. Active Learning for High School-College Partnerships:Orientation for Students Entering University.
Get PDFP(論文)The purpose of this paper is to examine attempts at active learning by collaboration between high schools and colleges. The model used in the class has two styles: one is a seminar style and the other is a lecture style. In the seminar style, students are required to join games in order to understand their roles in the association and make appropriate behaviors. In a lecture style, students are expected to understand the concept of the media and to try to analyze the relationships of people in photographs by using observable information. These learning methods match the needs of students who want to satisfy their intellectual curiosity in a way different from school. Analysis of Closed Social Structure Models using the Cellular Automaton
Get PDFP(論文)The cellular automaton was created by John Von Neumann and Stanislaw Marcin Ulam. What Von Neumann was interested in was a machine which could replicate itself and the first such machine in the logical world was the Neumann cellular automaton. Since then, the cellular automaton has been expanded to many fields such as biology, history, and complex systems. This paper suggests closed social structure models with the method based on the cellular automaton. We succeeded in finding some interesting facts using simulations. Using Coaching Techniques for a TOEIC Intensive Course
Get PDFP(論文)This article describes how a TOEIC Intensive Course, open to Japanese university students, was taught using coaching techniques to promote academic skills. Based on research that “moderate structural intervention” benefits university students who have less academic experience, the author planned and organized the use of coaching activities for the course. The article also includes students’ before and after TOEIC results and their feedback on the course. It was found that the students’ TOEIC scores from testing right after the course showed a significant increase, though the students had only a one week period for the study course. The author suggests that if the coaching techniques were utilized throughout the intensive course period, they could very well further improve the students’ TOEIC scores.departmental bulletin pape
