University Collaboration with Professional Sports Teams: Focusing on professional sports teams based in the Kansai region
Get PDF3772,3823The number of professional sports teams in Japan is increasing as is the need for the diversification of human resources. The objective of this study is to provide insight into the collaboration of professional sports teams in the Kansai area in Japan with universities, and to examine the different kinds of collaboration. The internet survey conducted indicated that there are six types of collaboration between professional sports teams and universities : collaboration, planning practice, fieldwork/volunteer, surveys, lectures, and others. It was evidenced that the Nippon Professional Baseball Organization (NPB), Japan Professional Football League (J. League), and Japan Professional Basketball League (B. League) had different types of collaboration with universities. In particular, since there are several collaborations in the sports business and management area, it is important for professional sports teams to emphasize their human resource requirements and for universities to meet such requirements.departmental bulletin pape
A Study of Social Capital in Childcare Support

To achieve this, the researcher reviewed the reports of OECD and “Children and Childrearing Vision” decided by a Cabinet meeting in 2010 in Japan, and analyzed several papers about social capital.
As a result of this review, the following were evident. First, the reports of OECD emphasize the significance of parental and community engagement in early childhood education and care services. Introducing Experiments on Aroma to Food Chemistry in a Dietitian Training Course
Get PDF3824The aroma and volatile components of food are important factors in taste. In addition, aroma is important in determining food safety. In many dietitian training schools, aroma and fragrance have been taught mainly in the field of food science. On the other hand, no aroma-related experiments have been conducted using students.
In this study, we constructed an experiment on aroma and measured its effectiveness through a questionnaire survey. As a result of the research, we were able to propose three experiments and it became clear that it was difficult for students to describe scents in words. Furthermore, it was suggested that conducting these experiments would deepen their knowledge of chemistry.
From this study, it was suggested that conducting experiments on aroma would help students to have early awareness of themselves as dietitians.departmental bulletin pape
Kanzo Uchimura and His Time（１） ―The lese majesty incident
Get PDF3743Kanzo Uchimura （1861-1930） was a representative Japanese Christian who exerted great influence on modern Japanese Christian history. This article refers to the Lese Majesty Incident in which Uchimura was prominently involved. This important affair symbolized the collision between Japanese national polity, kokutai, and Christianity, and resulted in the persecution of Christianity. The incident happened because Uchimura rejected the worship specified in the Imperial Rescript on Education, causing a dispute over the compatibility of Christianity and national education based on the rescript, or kokutai. Tetsujirou Inoue （1856-1944）, a famous Tokyo Imperial University
professor, attacked Uchimura and Christianity by publishing a series of articles named Collision between Education and Religion.
In response to this criticism, Tokio Yokoi, of the Kumamoto faction, Masahisa Uemura, from Yokohama and Uchimura who came from Sapporo, refuted Inoue‘s thesis from their own standpoints. This article tries to clarify Uchimura and Uemura’s standpoint on the one side and the problematic standpoint of the Kumamoto faction on the other, and point out two different responses within Christianity concerning the relationship between Chistianity and kokutai.
Also we must remember that this difference is closely connected with theological issues, that is: orthodox theology as distinct from liberal theology. We will deal with this issue in the next article: Kanzo Uchimura and His Time（ 2） - Theological issues.departmental bulletin pape

This paper examines the Federalism in the Federal Republic of Austria, chiefly the division of functions between Bund, the federal state, and Länder, the individual states.
Firstly, we see the main provisions of the Austrian Constitution（BundesVerfassungsgesetz〔B-VG〕） related to these functions, namely Articles 10-15, which show clearly the centralization of Austrian Federalism in comparison with that of Germany or Switzerland.
Secondly, we see the participation of Länder in the legislation or administration of Bund, and the co-operation of Bund with the legislation or administration of Länder. Thirdly, we see examine the control and compulsory execution of Bund on Länder.

An Active Lesson Plan for Teaching Phrasal Verbs Using Corpus Linguistics
Get PDF3812,3817It comes as a surprise to few instructors that when students are actively engaged in learning, they are better at retaining information long term.
“...though students felt as if they learned more through traditional lectures, they actually learned more when taking part in classrooms that employed socalled active-learning strategies”（Reuell, 2019）. This lesson plan uses the Corpus of Contemporary American English to engage students in learning phrasal verbs（Davies, 2008）. Through the Internet, students access COCA and search for their choices of verbal phrases, seeing the relevance of their choices and the different ways that verbal phrases are used. In addition, this lesson plan has the students do the exercises in groups, which has benefits of learning cooperation and peer review. Group exercises also help to alleviate any anxiety that a student might feel when under pressure to perform a task individually.
