The Impact of Failure Experiences on the Development of Entrepreneurial Mindset – A Questionnaire-Based Study of Psychological Traits, Behavioral Characteristics, and Meaning- Making Tendencies –
This study explores how failure experiences and their subjective interpretation influence the development of psychological traits essential for
entrepreneurship, including self-efficacy, perseverance, and resilience. A survey of 400 individuals was conducted to examine four hypotheses:(1)individuals with failure experiences exhibit stronger psychological traits; (2)frequent failure correlates positively with these traits;(3)positive meaning-making of failure enhances these traits; and(4)entrepreneurs experience failure more often, interpret it more positively, and possess stronger psychological traits than non-entrepreneurs.
The results support all four hypotheses. Failure experiences, especially when interpreted positively, are associated with higher levels of psychological strength. Entrepreneurs in particular demonstrated greater resilience, self-efficacy, and perseverance, highlighting the value of failure as a developmental opportunity.
These findings align with Bandura’s self-efficacy theory and resilience research, underscoring the importance of overcoming adversity. The ability to positively reinterpret failure emerges as a key mechanism in fostering an entrepreneurial mindset.
This study suggests that entrepreneurship education should focus not only on success but also on supporting reflection and growth through failure. Promoting psychological safety and meaning-making in learning environments can help cultivate resilient, self-directed individuals equipped to face uncertainty and pursue entrepreneurial challenges.departmental bulletin pape
Effect of Wearing Sanitary Masks on Facial Expression Recognition ~Focusing on Smile Intensity~
Although the COVID-19 has been designated as a class 5 infectious disease in Japan, the staff of facilities for the elderly and hospitals are still recommended to wear sanitary masks as a preventive measure. A negative drawback is that it obscures the wearer’s facial expressions. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of wearing sanitary masks on facial expression recognition by focusing on smile intensity.
The participants were 181 university students. We conducted a questionnaire on the evaluation of their smiles. In the smile level evaluation questionnaire, faces of five different smile levels(0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%)were photographed with an Omron Smile Scan. Then, white non-woven masks and transparent masks were synthesized as sanitary masks in the photographs for each level. Subjects were randomly shown these 15 photos and asked to select the level of smile that they perceived.
Among the sanitary masks, it was suggested that wearing a non-woven mask that covers the mouth significantly reduced the perception of the smile level of the person face-to-face. Furthermore, it was shown that when wearing nonwoven masks, the greater the smile level, the more inaccurate facial expression recognition was.departmental bulletin pape

Psychological Changes Brought About by Longdistance Walking Travel : A Narrative Review of the Psychological Process of Walking Travel
The purpose of this paper is to clarify the process by which long-distance walking travel brings about psychological changes and the factors that influence this process. This study reviewed 17 papers on the psychological processes involved in walking long-distance trails, such as the Shikoku Pilgrimage and the Camino de Santiago, as well as the Triple Crown of Hiking in the United States, and their residual effects. As a result, psychological changes are classified into six areas: self-expansion, spirituality, connection with others, gratitude, oneness with nature, and minimalism. In addition to this, a conceptual framework for psychological changes in long-distance walking travel is proposed, drawing on previous studies on personal growth resulting from stressful events and culture shock. Furthermore, we discussed five factors that cause psychological changes during long-distance walking travel are discussed.departmental bulletin pape
Problems and Consultation Behavior of University Students Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic. - Who University Students Turn to for Advice and Awareness of Student Counseling Centers Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic. -
The purpose of this study is to clarify what problems university students have and who they consulted with amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This survey also investigated the awareness of university student counseling services and their willingness of students to use them amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The participants were 174 university students(93 male, 81 female)from two private universities. The students were surveyed on the problems they had in 2020.
The results showed that amid the COVID-19 pandemic or normal times, approximately 70 to 80% of students had some kind of problems. Very few students were willing to seek advice at student counseling centers even if they had problems. For most of their problems, they turned to friends of the same-sex for advice. However, they only consulted their parents about employment issues. Finally, both amid the COVID-19 pandemic and under normal circumstances, awareness of university student counseling centers was around 50%, and actual utilization was very low.departmental bulletin pape
Language Socialization and Motivation: How Novice Language Learners Use Mediational Means
This paper attempts to redefine language socialization, mediational means, and motivation and explores their interconnections based on overviews of previous studies while focusing on how language learners use mediational means in the socialization process. Furthermore, it mentions the crucial role of motivation in socialization, mainly focusing on Dörnyei’s L2 motivational self system.
Additionally, it investigates the relationship between language socialization and sociocultural theory. Finally, the paper presents a case study of how novice language learners use mediational means in a second language(L2)learning class using immersion education in Osaka Prefecture.departmental bulletin pape
Effects of e-Sports on Cognitive Function in Healthy Older Adults
Older adults generally have reduced functional fitness, including muscle strength, endurance and balance than young adults. Moreover, they have poorer cognitive functions. Therefore, it is very important to improve not only
physical fitness but also cognitive functions for vitality aging in older adults. The purpose of this study was to investigate the intervention effects of e-sports on cognitive functioning in healthy older adults.
The participants were six healthy older adults (75.3 ± 5.0 years). They performed an e-sports program for 90 min, 1 day a week, for 12 weeks. As an e-sports, we adopted “a rhythm drumming game using Japanese drums” because of older Japanese adults familiarity with it. Cognitive functions(Five- Cog. Test and Stroop test)were measured 2 times(first day session and 3 months after the initial session)in all the participants.
Subjects showed improvement in performance on the motor task, position judgment task, word memory task and animal name imagination task. Moreover, subjects showed beneficial effects for the correct number in all the tasks of the Stroop test.
This study suggests that e-sports have more beneficial effects on cognitive function in healthy older adults.departmental bulletin pape
Self-Governing Administration in the Federal Republic of Austria -The Municipalities(Gemeinden)and The Legal Representatives of Occupational Interests(Kammern)- (7)
The Austrian Constitution, Bundes-Verfassungsgesetz(B-VG), classifies the self-governing administration in Austria into Gemeinden- – the territorial self-governing administration(cities, towns and villages)and Kammern – the personal self-governing administration(the legal representatives of occupational interests, social insurance, etc.).
The Fundamental characteristics of the self-governing administration system are autonomy, the juridical person, the internal democracy of organization, and the control of the Bund(the federal government)and Land(the state government).
The Selbstverwaltungkörper(the self-governing body)executes all or part of the public administration of the federal and state governments. For this reason, the autonomy of the self-governing administration is in contradiction to the parliamentary democracy and the public administration hierarchy.
This paper examines the relationship between ‘the democracy of the self-governing administration’ and ‘the parliamentary democracy of the federal and the state administration’.
Currently in Austria, the cooperative federalism of all three levels; the Bund(the federation), the Länder(the states)and the Gemeinden(municipalities)is under Debate.
In this paper, the position, competence, and organization of the municipality is considered.departmental bulletin pape

A Study on Objective Variables of Classroom Questionnaire: A Basic Survey on Faculty Development.
This paper examines the possibility of using a classroom questionnaire with CS analysis for faculty development. In this paper, the goal of faculty development(FD) is defined as improving students' motivation to learn after class. Using CS analysis, we were able to show that it is more difficult to motivate students to learn than to improve class satisfaction for less patient students. The results of this study present problems with using only class satisfaction as an outcome of FD activities. The expected outcome of this study is to propose effective FD content to improve learning motivation for various students. To achieve the expected results, we plan to incorporate on-the-job experience in the private sector and economics into our research project.departmental bulletin pape
