JOB BURNOUT AND SATISFACTION AMONG SECONDARY TEACHERS: REGRESSION AND K-MEANS CLUSTERING ANALYSIS

    Get PDF
Burnout on a teaching job refers to exhaustion that leads to depression which can affect the teacher’s well-being and satisfaction. This article looks into the level of job burnout and satisfaction of high school teachers during modular distance learning and determines its association at different levels. Cross-sectional primary data were gathered from a random sample of secondary teachers in Ormoc City, Leyte, Philippines. The gathered data were job burnout and satisfaction scores and described using standard statistical metrics. Moreover, correlation and regression analysis were employed to analyze its association, and K-means clustering was used to identify homogeneous categories of job burnout and satisfaction scores with similar characteristics. On average, results showed that the high school teachers were still  “satisfied” despite the “high burnout” they were facing during the modular distance learning amid the pandemic. Using the correlation analysis, it is revealed that teachers’ satisfaction and burnout are significantly and inversely correlated to each other. This implies that the burnout level adversely affects the satisfaction in teaching. Based on regression analysis, there is a decrease of 0.653 units in the satisfaction perception score for every 1 unit increase in the burnout perception score and it is significant at a 1% level. It is depicted in K-means clustering that teachers’ satisfaction and burnout levels are compact and converge to the interpretation that they were highly burnout yet satisfied in modular distance learning. Hence, the study suggests that teachers' tasks during distance education must be lessened to increase their well-being as educators

The study finds that all respondents maintain a positive God-Image, perceiving God as their Helper, Caregiver, and source of strength. Their faith is identified as a core motivation for survival. The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) is employed to illustrate this approach. Finally, this paper tries to contribute to offering a unique perspective on the lives of Indonesian migrant workers in Hong Kong, emphasizing the critical roles of compassion, faith, and a positive God-image in their experiences, and promoting a fresh approach to addressing their struggles

PADROADO REAL: ORGANISASI MISI KATOLIK DI BAWAH BENDERA PORTUGIS

    Get PDF

    Get PDF
This research focuses on the imperative need for effective language teacher production in Nigeria to meet the growing demand for language education and applied linguistics. The study introduces the P7 Model, a comprehensive framework that encompasses seven key elements essential for successful language teacher development: Personnel, Potentials, Partnership, Process, Property, Product, and Probing. The research involves a survey of 400 practicing language teachers across various educational levels in Nigeria. The survey examines their perceptions regarding the importance of these seven elements in shaping language teacher education programs. The findings are analyzed using simple percentages. The results highlight strong agreement among respondents concerning the significance of each P7 element in the language teacher development process. Specifically, participants emphasize the need for competent, proficient, and enthusiastic teaching staff (Personnel), collaborative efforts through partnerships, research, and engagement with regulatory bodies (Partnership), admission of candidates with a genuine interest in language teaching and strong academic potential (Potentials), a curriculum emphasizing practical skills and employability (Process), the provision and optimal use of infrastructure and resources (Property), job security, remuneration, incentives, and continuing professional development (Product), and quality assurance and control throughout the teacher development process (Probing). The P7 Model offers a structured approach to guide language program administrators and policymakers in shaping effective language teacher education programs. Prioritizing these elements is crucial to ensure the availability of skilled, dedicated, and enthusiastic language teachers who can meet the demands of the 21st century, ultimately facilitating applied linguistics and language education in Nigeria

    Get PDF
This study explores patterns of AI-tool utilization among Indonesian EFL students, as preliminary data for assessment-model development. Using a convenience sampling technique, this study involved 208 university students of various year levels. A questionnaire was developed based on technology acceptance model (TAM) frameworks to collect data through Google Form, covering aspects of knowledge and use of AI tools in completing tasks, frequency of AI use and friendliness levels, reasons for using AI tools, ease of using AI tools, and desire to use AI tools. The results reveal that the participants had basic knowledge of AI but a significant number of participants admitted not knowing AI tools, suggesting the need for more education and awareness about AI. Grammarly and Google Translate were the most familiar and frequently used applications. Our findings also reveal strong relationships between perceived ease of use (PEoU) and perceived usefulness (PU) and between PU and technology acceptance (TA), implying how TAM frameworks may predict willingness to use technology-assisted or AI applications and the actual utilization. As most research participants were teacher candidates, it becomes clear that integrating AI-assisted learning content and activities appears essential as their experiences in their teacher education may influence the way they teach in the future
