Analysis of Competence and Facilitation Skills of Novice Environmental Guides in Facilitating Catechesis of the Faithful in St. Peter Chrysologus Parish Semarang
Community catechesis represents a model of faith education that emphasizes active community participation in living out the faith. However, the effectiveness of catechesis greatly depends on the competence and facilitation skills of environmental guides, especially those who are still novices. This study highlights the gap between theological understanding and facilitation practice that remains a challenge in building a dialogical and transformative learning process. This research aims to analyze the competence and facilitation skills of novice environmental guides in community catechesis at St. Peter Chrysologus Parish BSB. Using a qualitative approach, this research employs in-depth interviews and thematic analysis of eight key informants, including the parish priest, senior environmental guides, novices, and members of the catechetical commission. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña to identify patterns of required competencies and skills (Bazeley 2020). The results show that the basic competencies of environmental guides include a strong foundation of faith, doctrinal understanding, and the ability to manage group dynamics. However, they still face challenges in facilitating reflective dialogue and creating active participant engagement. Effective facilitation skills, such as active listening, creating safe spaces, and summarizing discussions, become key factors in improving the quality of catechesis. This research contributes to the development of more comprehensive training strategies for novice environmental guides, emphasizing experience-based approaches, mentoring, and continuous evaluation. The practical implications of this research point to the need for reform in catechetical training to address regeneration challenges and improve facilitation effectiveness in Church base communities
The Trinity Model in The Family of Educators: Reflections on Love and Unity
The family serves as the primary and foundational place of education for Christians. It plays a crucial role in shaping values and nurturing relationships with God. This discussion focuses on the concept of the Triune God, which serves as a model for the family life of educators. Using the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) approach, the researcher aims to explore various aspects of educators' family life associated with the teachings of the Council of Nicaea. Just as the Father and the Son exist in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, families are also called to embody love, share, and cultivate close relationships. Additionally, the ideals of unity in diversity and self-giving reflect the nature of the Trinity within the family. This study seeks to illustrate how the family, regarded as a "Domestic Church" (Ecclesia Domestica), can mirror the love of the Triune God. Furthermore, the teachings of the Council of Nicaea hold significance in family life, demonstrating how families can exemplify the love and unity inherent in the Triune God
Exploration about Beliefs of God through Cordiality of the Good Samaritan Parable and Homoousios of Nicaea Council
Discussing the Parable of the Good Samaritan, one of the main themes that can be discussed is the theology of cordiality "his heart was moved with compassion". This cordiality is revealed from the actions of the Good Samaritan figure. He helped a victim who needed a helping hand of compassion. Insinuatingly, the actions of the good Samaritan were driven by his cordiality. In the context of the Council of Nicaea, the beliefs about God are summarized in homoousios. The beliefs about God in Jesus are as follows: God who is one in essence and God who is in cordial with human being. This article will discuss the beliefs or spirituality derived from a combined analysis of the cordiality of the Good Samaritan and the concept of homoousios in the Council of Nicaea. The author uses historical-critical analysis and hermeneutic methods. These methods were carried out using library research. From the cordial actions of the Good Samaritan and the concept of homoousios, the author finds concepts and relevancies: Almighty God transcends the limits of human being; but also, Almighty God become human being and moves humans to do cordial acts of love specifically for the marginalized and suffering
PATRIARCHY AND THE NOTION OF CHILDLESSNESS IN AYOBAMI ADEBAYO’S STAY WITH ME
The essence of this study is to portray the patriarchal attitudes and tendencies towards the notion of childlessness in certain Nigerian families. The study used content analysis in Ayobami Adebayo’s novel Stay with Me (2017), employing the theoretical frameworks of patriarchy and childlessness to trace the extent to which the disease of childlessness in marriages hinges on the collective patriarchal domineering authority to impose psychological trauma on the “claimed barren woman”. Findings revealed that most infertility in marriages is more common in men than women. However, since the Nigerian cultures are biased against women, they compel them to tolerate the denunciations of sterility, even when there is substantial evidence of the man's sterility displayed all over. The study opines that although childlessness may acquire a sociological or cultural viewpoint, it is purely biological and medical problems, which should not attract superstition and diabolic means to proffer solutions. The study recommends that researchers in human health sciences proffer solutions by creating awareness and supplying adequate, comprehensive treatments to people living with sterility syndrome in Nigeria. Again, the Nigerian government should bring in medical experts from the international community to rehabilitate the victims of childlessness by proffering lasting solutions
EDUCATING THE HEART OF A PILGRIM: IN CONVERSATIONS WITH DILEXIT NOS AND SPES NON CONFUNDIT
Christians are pilgrims on this earth journeying towards the fulfilment of time. At the same time, they are also journeying along so many different axes of this world. Harmonizing the two journeys presents the Christians with a never-ending task of spiritually revitalizing themselves. The excess of progressing through secular journey as Christians brings a lot of toils to the center of their spirituality, the heart. Pope Francis's recent encyclic, Dilexit Nos, provides us with insights into the spiritual capacity of the heart. Especially, his treatment of St. Ignatius of Loyola’s Spiritual Exercises on the human heart may provide us with inspiration on the heart as the source of spiritual energy for journeying on the pilgrimage in this world. Applying different literatures of theology of spirituality to read the Encyclic, this paper will elaborate the role of the Exercises in nurturing our heart as the locus of spiritual pilgrimage. In combination with Pope Francis’ bull for the Jubilee of 2025, Spes Non Confundit, we can conclude that the sign of heart ready for a spiritual pilgrimage lies in its ability to grow eschatological hope. The spiritual pilgrimage of Christians needs to be based on the capacity of the heart to hope in the process towards the fulfillment of God’s Kingdom.
FACTORS HINDERING THE INTEGRATION AND POTENTIAL OF TECHNOLOGY IN EFL CLASSROOMS
Teachers play essential roles in ensuring the success of technology integration and maximizing the potential of technology in theteaching and learning practices. Therefore, it is crucial to know somefactors that might hinder teachers from successfully integrating and fully maximizing technologys potential in various educational levels, such as those in English as a Foreign Language (henceforth called EFL) contexts. To achieve the objective of the study, the researcher examined twenty empirical research articles from sixteen peer-reviewed journals from 2009-2020 using Google Scholar, JSTOR, and ScienceDirect databases. The analysis results could be categorized into five main themes: (1) dealing with too many school administrative tasks, (2) lacking skills to use technology, (3) lacking relevant technology training, (4) dealing with constraints to join technology training, and (5) lacking access to technology. The discussions of each theme in light of the relevant literature, practical solutions to deal with the situations, and directions for further research are presented
FROM DIGITAL GAMES TO COMPUTATIONAL THINKING: A META-ANALYTIC REVIEW IN MATHEMATICS EDUCATION
In the last ten years, there has been considerable growth in empirical studies examining the effects of digital games on mathematics learning and computational thinking (CT). However, a review of the existing literature indicates that the outcomes of digital game-enhanced math instruction on students' CT skills have yielded inconsistent results. This research intends to evaluate how effective digital game-supported mathematics education is in developing students' CT abilities, while taking into account various factors such as educational level, duration of the intervention, learning context, game developer, and type of game. A meta-analytic review was conducted, analyzing 15 pertinent studies published between 2011 and 2023, which produced 21 effect sizes and included a total of 8,911 students. Statistical analyses, including the Q Cochrane test, publication bias assessment, Z test, and sensitivity analyses, were performed using CMA software to scrutinize the data. The results indicated a statistically significant but modest positive effect (g = 0.344; p < 0.05) of digital game-supported math education on students' CT skills. Several factors, including the length of the intervention, the software developer, and the type of game, significantly impacted CT outcomes, whereas other factors, such as educational level and learning environment, did not show a significant influence. These findings suggest that digital game-supported mathematics instruction can be an effective technological approach to enhance students' computational thinking abilities
Quality Assessment of Extemporaneous Capsule Preparation containing Methylprednisolone, CTM, and Theophylline using Spectrophotometrics and Chemometrics Techniques
Currently, doctors in developing countries still prefer to prescribe compounding drugs because certain drugs are not available in ready-made dosage forms. It is considered that the capsule formulation can increase patient compliance because it requires a smaller amount of medication. In particular, for asthma patients, extemporaneous capsule preparation containing methylprednisolone, CTM, and theophylline is usually prescribed. However, theophylline, which has a narrow therapeutic index, combined with small doses of methylprednisolone and CTM, may result in inconsistent drug content in the compounded drug. This study aimed to assess the quality of the capsule mixture containing methylprednisolone, CTM, and theophylline formulated at the “X” Kolaka Community Health Center, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. Extemporaneous capsules are tested using various methods such as organoleptic tests, water content tests, disintegration time tests, and content uniformity tests of compounding drugs. The quality test results of the compounding capsule with the active substance a combination of methylprednisolone, CTM, and theophylline formulated at the “X” Kolaka Health Center met the quality requirements with organoleptic tests, moisture content tests, and disintegration time tests. The content uniformity test does not meet the requirements according to the Indonesian Pharmacopoeia VI edition based on the acceptance values of L1% and L2%
Determination of Sun Protection Factor Value and Physical Stability of Wungu Leaf (Graptophylum pictum (L.) Griff) Extract Spray Sunscreen
Sunscreen can protect the skin from ultraviolet (UV) radiation. The inorganic active ingredients in sunscreens can have detrimental effects on the skin. Wungu leaf (Graptophylum pictum (L.) Griff) is a suitable alternative due to its antioxidant activity and similar mechanism of action to other antioxidants with lower side effects. This study employed a true experimental method, and the data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA and T-tests. The effectiveness of sunscreen is determined by the Sun Protection Factor (SPF) value. This study aims to determine the SPF value and physical stability of Wungu leaf extract spray sunscreen at concentrations of 500 ppm, 1,000 ppm, and 1,500 ppm. The results show that the spray sunscreens provide ultra-protection. The difference in extract concentration significantly affected the SPF value (p0.05). Stability tests showed a negligible effect on color variation and a notable effect on pH and spray diameter. Despite its noticeable impact, the outcome remains within an acceptable range. The study concluded that the Wungu leaf extract spray sunscreen provides excellent photoprotection, as demonstrated by the high SPF values observed for Formula 1 (18.63), Formula 2 (23.87) and Formula 3 (29.56). In addition, the product exhibits robust physical stability, as assessed by relevant parameters
