EXPLORING STUDENT ENGAGEMENT WITH FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT AND ICT TOOLS
This study investigates the potential of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools to enhance formative assessment (FA) practices in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms. While previous research has focused primarily on teacher feedback in writing courses, this study emphasizes a broader scope of FA. Utilizing a cross-sectional, quantitative analysis, the research examines how ICT tools support FA's goal of facilitating the learning process from students' perspectives, thereby informing effective teaching practices and improving learning outcomes. Participants included 173 university EFL students in Japan, divided into English majors and non-English majors. The study employed a revision of an existing survey for language learning with digital tools and a self-developed survey based on an existing framework for FA. Correlational analysis indicated that participants generally perceived ICT tools as supportive of all five FA principles. Despite issues like connectivity problems, students found the tools valuable for making the learning progress visible and enhancing peer communication. The study underscores the importance of understanding and practicing FA beyond feedback, such as clarifying learning goals and fostering peer learning, to enhance learning. These findings suggest that integrating ICT tools into FA practices can significantly benefit EFL instruction by promoting student engagement and self-regulated learning
BOOK REVIEW: SOCIAL LEADERSHIP IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND CARE: AN INTRODUCTION
Social leadership in early childhood education and care refers to the ability of educators to guide and promote positive social behaviors in young children, as well as create a supportive learning environment that fosters cooperation and empathy. EXPLORING INDONESIAN EFL PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS’ EXPERIENCES IN AI-ASSISTED TEACHING PRACTICUM: BENEFITS AND DRAWBACKS
The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in educational settings is rapidly evolving, presenting both opportunities and challenges for pre-service English teachers. This case study explored three Indonesian EFL pre-service teachers’ experiences in using AI technologies and the implications for their pedagogical practices during teaching practicum. Several AI tools, namely ChatGPT, Copilot, Twee, and Quizizz AI, were used to help the pre-service teachers in planning, creating learning content, and assessing students. Data were collected from semi-structured interviews, reflective reports, and artifacts from the three Indonesian pre-service teachers majoring in English language education joining a teaching practicum program in a local school for 6 weeks. The qualitative data analysis revealed that the Indonesian EFL pre-service teachers saw three essential benefits of AI-assisted teaching practicum: (1) AI assists them with brainstorming and ideation process, (2) AI makes teaching preparation more time efficient, and (3) AI assists them in crafting tailor-made English materials for students. Meanwhile, they also addressed some challenges in the process, namely (1) overreliance, (2) ethical violation, and (3) fabricated and misleading contents
Kaitan antara Kemandirian Belajar dengan Prokrastinasi Akademik
This research aimed to 1) Describe students’ autonomous learning level in SMPN 1 Minggir, 2) Describe students’ academic procrastination level in SMPN 1 Minggir, 3) Find out the relationship between autonomouslearning and academic procrastination in 9th-grade students in SMPN 1 Minggir. This study used descriptive quantitative research with a correlational research design. The sample used in this study was the 9thgrade students in SMPN 1 Minggir with a total of 93 respondents. The data gathering technique used in this research was a survey that was conducted online by distributing the Google form. The total valid items on the scale of autonomous learning were 93 items, meanwhile, the total valid items on the scale of academic procrastination were 38 items. The testing of the reliability coefficient instrument in this research used the Alfa Cronbach technique. The result of the reliability testing instrument on the autonomous learning level was 0.879 and the academic procrastination level was 0.770. Both instruments were tested as reliable and worth using. The result of this study found that 1) The yield achievement of the autonomous learning level indicated the tendency at a high level, 2) The yield achievement in academic procrastination level indicated the tendency at a medium level, 3) The result analysis of the correlational hypothesis indicated r value in the amount of 0.487 with the significance value 0.0000.05. The result showed a significant positive relationship between autonomous learning and academic procrastination in 9th-grade students in SMPN 1 Minggir

UNVEILING STUDENTS' CHALLENGES AND ATTITUDES TOWARDS PROJECT-BASED LEARNING IN ENGLISH-SPEAKING TERTIARY CLASSROOM
University students learning English as a Foreign Language (EFL) often struggle with speaking anxiety, limited practice opportunities, and performance pressure. This paper explores the challenges and attitudes of EFL university students towards Project-Based Learning (PBL) implemented in a speaking class at the tertiary level in the Indonesian context. The study included 35 university students from a public university in Indonesia. The researchers employed a mixed-methods approach to examine students' attitudes and challenges. Data were gathered through a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. The analysis of the questionnaire revealed predominantly positive attitudes towards PBL. The interviews uncovered challenges, such as lack of confidence, pronunciation difficulties, time constraints, heavy workload, and performance anxiety. Despite these challenges, the students had positive attitudes, emphasising PBL's potential for enhancing speaking skills. The study recommends targeted interventions to address lingering challenges and refine PBL implementation.
Religion, Justice and Women: the Views of Dominican Christian Mystics Meister Eckhart and Franciscan Bonaventura
Mysticism was an interesting and fascinating phenomenon in medieval times. In that century, the scientific interest and views on mysticism that experienced high intensity, especially in its literature, also became a challenge from both religious and epistemological sides. This is not surprising, since visionary stories reflecting transcendental experiences associated with forms of religious spirituality could not be understood by (modern) rationality. Even today, rationalism and empiricism are popular for determining justice that materializes from development and knowledge in a measurable way. This also creates a dilemma, where the orientation of rationalism and empiricism emphasizes results rather than the relationship between humans and the Divine. The views of Christian mystics MeisterEckhart and Bonaventure provide an overview of the relationship between mysticism and social life. This article discusses the views of Dominican mystic MeisterEckhart and Franciscan mystic Bonaventure on religion, justice and women. These two Christian mystics emphasize the dimensions of human unity with God, the position of human beings, and human relations. At a time when the development of rationalism and empiricism is massive, mystical experience becomes one of the alternative views to revisit the relationship between humans that comes from unity with the Divine in the perspective of Religion, Justice and Women. This scientific work is studied using the literature method
