Efek Stres terhadap False Memory Recall dan Recognition
Memory is often thought of as a video recorder that can record and store events precisely as they occur. Whereas in addition to being constructive, memory is also reconstructive, which means that memory can change due to certain conditions, resulting in false memories. The effect of stress on false memory was tested in this between-subject design experiment. Participants in this study (N = 38) were divided into two conditions through a random assignment process, control conditions (N = 27) and stress or experiment conditions (N = 11). We used a modified Trier Social Stress Test-Group to induce stress and Deese-Roediger-McDermott Paradigm to measure false memory. The independent sample t-test showed that there was no significant difference on false memory recall and false memory recognition between participants in the experiment condition and participants in the control condition. This indicated that stress did not affect false memory. The implications of this finding are the importance of replicating similar studies investigating stress induction in various stages of memory processing and forms of stress induction to produce a more precise understanding of the stress and false memory mechanism
Cracking the Code of Musical Language: Making Sense of Rihanna’s “Diamonds” through Semiotics
This article applies semiotics as a theoretical framework to uncover the observable layers of meaning that are interwoven in Rihanna’s song “Diamonds”. By examining the linguistic, visual, and musical elements of this song, this scholarly discourse aims to unearth the symbolic significance of “Diamonds” and their implications for contemporary popular music. Over and above this, it is to underscore that there is an intricate relationship between linguistics and musicology, hence the necessity to form an interdisciplinary dialogue. Ultimately, three notable findings are evident. First, the semiotic examination of Rihanna’s “Diamonds” reveals that the recurring motif of diamonds symbolizes more than just material wealth. Rather, diamonds serve as powerful metaphorical expressions of fortitude, strength, and enduring love. Second, through semiotic exposition, the use of light imagery, among others, conveys themes of conviction, optimism, and clarity. By the same token, references to shining bright like diamonds evoke notions of enlightenment and transcendence, sharply contrasting with the darker elements explored in the song’s lyrics. Third, this scholarly evaluation unmasks the synergistic relationship between linguistic and non-linguistic elements in “Diamonds”. Conclusively, the combination of words and music solidifies the overall message and emotional resonance of the song, creating a more immersive and impactful experience for the listener

Exploring Teenager’s Language Attitudes towards Javanese Language
Language attitudes significantly influence language vitality and revitalization, shaping users' language choices. In Indonesia, indigenous languages, including Javanese, are declining in use, particularly among younger generations who prefer Indonesian for daily communication. Family language policies, where parents prioritize Indonesian over indigenous languages, contribute to this trend. This study investigates teenagers’ language attitudes towards Javanese, aiming to inform strategies for preserving the language. Using a mixed-method sociolinguistic approach, the researchers collected data through surveys and interviews, examining factors like cultural identity, social dynamics, educational experiences, and media exposure. The study involves Junior High School students, with 127 survey responses and 42 respondents joining the interviews. The findings reveal that 44.1% of respondents learned Javanese as their mother tongue, while 55.1% acquired Indonesian. Proficiency in Javanese varies: 41.7% can fluently use Javanese Ngoko, but only 4.7% are fluent in Krama. Javanese Ngoko is mainly used within families and local communities, whereas Indonesian dominates in schools and public spaces, influenced by its perceived utility and globalization. Despite challenges, including limited learning resources and fear of misuse, respondents view Javanese positively, driven by cultural pride and ethnic identity. These findings highlight the need for targeted strategies to empower teenagers to preserve and revitalize Javanese. Addressing language attitudes and increasing exposure to Javanese could help reverse its decline
GAMIFIED ENGLISH INSTRUCTION MEDIATED BY KAHOOT! AT SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL: EVIDENCE FOR VOCABULARY GAINS
Learning vocabulary in a second or foreign language is necessary for effective communication. Because the process of memorizing vocabulary is boring and stressful for some high school students, they have poor vocabulary knowledge. This study is focused on investigating whether or not there is an effect of using Kahoot! on senior high school students' vocabulary achievement. This research was conducted in two classes, one of which was used as an experimental class, and the other was a control class. The duration of the treatment is two weeks, and the third week is to do a post-test. This research was carried out in one of the high schools in Jember City. To measure participants' achievement in vocabulary learning after the experiment, a vocabulary achievement test was developed by the researchers. To check the validity of the hypothesis, an independent sample t-test was run to determine the significant difference between the mean post-test score and the SPSS. The results of the study indicate that Kahoot is effective in improving the vocabulary learning of the experimental group
COMMUNITY SUPPORT AND CHALLENGES OF REINTEGRATING CHILDREN, WOMEN, AND FAMILIES RETURNING FROM IDP CAMPS IN NORTH-EAST NIGERIA
This empirical paper examined support roles for communities and the challenges, risks, and barriers facing them in the reintegration of children, women and families returning from Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in North-east Nigeria. The methodology adopted by this study was a qualitative research method namely phenomenological research design that used a series of semi-structured Key Informant Interviews (KII) and Focused Group Discussions to gather data for the study. For the interviews, a semi-structured interview was adopted. Data analysis was done using the Thematic Analysis approach. The findings of the study identified the key support needs of children, women, and family IDP returnees to include local community/family support, psychological/counselling support, schooling support, economic support, and whole-of-family support, among others. The results also identified key roles for communities in supporting comprehensively and ensuring the reintegration efforts of the IDP returnees. The findings also highlighted that the communities need to provide significant support to the efforts at reintegration of the IDP returnees in terms of resources. Finally, the study recommends strong empowerment of the communities through information sharing and the provision of capacities and resources. The study also recommends that stakeholders strive to forge a strong bond of partnership that sees both the government and community role-players as important equal partners and co-drivers of the reintegration intervention
ANALISIS TRANSFORMASI DIRI KANISIAN MELALUI LATIHAN KEPEMIMPINAN IGNASIAN DI KOLESE KANISIUS JAKARTA
Ignatian leadership training programs at Kolese Kanisius Jakarta need to be evaluated periodically. The goal of this study is to examine how the Ignatian transformation designated as the goal of the leadership training programs is experienced by the students involved. This study also aims to clarify the characteristics of an Ignatian transformation and its prerequisites. The methods used in this research were a literature study mainly on Jesuit education and in-depth interviews with 9 former members of the Canisius College students council. All respondents were determined according to the purposive sampling principle while the data analysis was done using Miles and Huberman’s method. Ignatian transformation in this study is discussed in the sense of the formation of “men and women for and with others” and “human excellence,” which together form two complementary aspects of a single transformative process. This transformation takes place in Canisians who have completed their Ignatian leadership training at Kolese Kanisius. The transformative effect manifests in four areas of human excellence, namely the 4Cs (competence, conscience, commitment, compassion), aimed at service to others. Canisians display the qualities of Ignatian leaders who can reflect on themselves and direct their actions towards addressing the needs of the world. The self-transformation experienced by the Canisians results from leadership training aligned with the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm (IPP). Additional factors to this transformation include: a school environment that encourages ongoing formation, a shared Ignatian language within the school community, peer accompaniment throughout the formation process, and role models from the former Presidium
PENDAMPINGAN PROFESIONALISME KEGURUAN DI XAVIER LEARNING COMMUNITY, CHIANG RAI: MEMBANGUN KOMUNITAS PEMBELAJARAN
Today’s venture capitalists will undergo a rational approach to open new schools so as to ensure long-term sustainability, in which alignment of goals, job divisions, revenue projections, student intakes, personnel placements, promotion strategies, to name a few, are organized as a concerted effort. Xavier Learning Community, a newly established Jesuit higher education institution, has come from a different direction and therefore, attempts to live against the modernist, accountability-based approach to opening a new educational enterprise. XLC Chiang Rai is nested in a socio-culturally, historically, and politically nuanced space of northern Thailand, where the hub of human trafficking, jade mining, drug abuse, Chinese-backed casinos, and prostitution are rampant. Given the dire contexts of the widening gaps between the majority of the Thai population and the self-subsistent tribal groups, as well as the limited access to quality education among the tribal groups living in remote regions of Thai borderlands, XLC has come to offer the young generation of those marginalized to enjoy affordable educational services. Drawing from a Husserlian perspective on purpose, intentionality, and harmony, this study reports a one-month activity to accompany XLC teachers in developing their consciousness in their service to support the Jesuit cause.
