NEGOTIATING LANGUAGE IDEOLOGIES AND ETHICAL BOUNDARIES: LECTURERS’ NARRATIVES ON AI USE IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING
The rapid evolution of AI in education has triggered contentious debates over its ethical use and effects on language learning. This study investigated how English teachers negotiate and appeal to language ideologies and ethical boundaries as they respond to AI tools in English Language Teaching (ELT). Grounded on language ideology and pedagogical technology theories, the research employed narrative inquiry design in examining the Indonesian university lecturers' experiences of language, ethics, and AI-driven classroom practice. Preliminary screening questionnaires and narrative in-depth interviews were used in collecting the data. The findings demonstrate that while AI tools have become valued for efficiency in supplying grammatical correction, lecturers are worried that the reliance on AI might hinder critical thought and emergence of agency. Lecturers also note the inadequacy of AI at engaging the local diversity of languages and dialects, and AI often tends to construct a standardized version of English. The study indicates that AI can be a useful tool in ELT by offering feedback and improving language accuracy, but caution is necessary to maintain academic integrity and ensure meaningful learning. This research contributes to the conversation on AI in education, offering actionable insights on ethical and productive AI use in language teaching
PELAKSANAAN DIALOG KESEHARIAN UNTUK MENEMUKAN MATERI PEMBELAJARAN YANG RELEVAN DAN BERMAKNA DENGAN BANTUAN AI STUDI KASUS PADA FASE C, SD KANISIUS KENALAN, BOROBUDUR, MAGELANG, JAWA TENGAH
The purpose of this paper is to describe the application of dialogic learning as a method for discovering learning materials based on students’ lived experiences. Through dialogue, students are positioned as the subjects of learning, while teachers act as dialogue partners, facilitators, and designers of the learning process. The results of these dialogues are used by teachers to design learning based on the Reflective Pedagogy Paradigm (PPR), with the assistance of artificial intelligence (AI). This research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with two teachers and seventeen Phase C students at Kanisius Kenalan Elementary School, Borobudur, Magelang as the primary participants. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and photo and video documentation. Data analysis focused on the stages of dialogue, the pedagogical shift by placing students at the center of learning, and the relevance of the resulting learning materials. The results demonstrate that dialogue plays a crucial role in discovering meaningful, contextual, and reflective learning
The Role of Spirituality and Religion for The Character Education of The Digital Generation
This research aims to discuss the role of spirituality and religion for the character education of the digital generation. In line with the purpose of national education as mandated in the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution, it is to educate the life of the nation by developing the potential of students so that they become a generation of the nation with character and professionalism. The character of the Indonesian nation, which is known for being friendly, polite, and noble ethics, is now starting to fade and be replaced by the character of violence, dishonesty, discrimination, bullying, hate speech and hoaxes. On the other hand, the Indonesian nation seems to be so religious. Places of worship are often seen full of worshippers. The digital generation lives in a social condition where ethical and moral values are not in line with the behaviors of their society. In this case, spirituality and religion can make a meaningful contribution to character education for the digital generation to become a professional generation in this digital era. Therefore, this research aims to find the role of spirituality and religion in character formation, especially for the digital generation. This research uses a qualitative method of literature study, namely using books and other literature as the main object. The results of the study show that spirituality and religion are important factors in the formation of the character of the digital generation, namely a generation that can know the essence of its creation, formulate the purpose and meaning of life
Ritus Tombor Maghi Sebagai Teks Lokal: Politik Keseharian Pluralisme di Fakfak, Papua Barat
Studies on ritual have been extensively conducted by scholars in anthropology, notably Victor Turner (1920–1983) and Max Gluckman (1911–1975), who examined the complexity and dynamics of ritual in relation to customs, social conflict, and individual and collective integration among African societies. Within sociology, Emile Durkheim (1858–1917) and Jeffrey C. Alexander (1947) explored the correlation between rites, religious beliefs, and social performance. However, research on ritual specifically addressing interreligious relations through the lens of cultural sociology remains limited. This study examines the Tombor Maghi ritual practiced by the Fakfak community in West Papua as a means of strengthening interfaith relations between Islam and Christianity. Originally performed within the context of marriage, the ritual has undergone a significant expansion of meaning, now encompassing the construction of a mosque (Wewowo Maesjid Maghi), a church (Wewowo Gereja Maghi), an educational institution (Wewowo STT Maghi), and a customary community organization (Wewowo Lembaga Masyarakat Adat Maghi) in Fakfak Regency. This study addresses the ontological question of how the Fakfak community understands the Tombor Maghi ritual in fostering Islamic-Christian relations. A qualitative method employing a realist ethnographic approach was adopted, with data collected through interviews and field observations conducted in Fakfak Regency. The study concludes that the Tombor Maghi ritual continues to serve as a medium of dialogue and a lived text for weaving interfaith relations, particularly within the domain of marriage. Furthermore, the ritual has undergone cultural reproduction, whereby communities of differing religious, ethnic, cultural, and educational backgrounds collaborate in the construction and inauguration of religious and educational facilities. The preservation of this ritual within the fabric of everyday life reflects a politics of pluralism in the Fakfak community, functioning as a collective strategy for cultivating sustainable interreligious harmony.AbstrakStudi tentang ritual banyak dilakukan oleh ahli yang berfokus pada bidang antropologi [Victor Turner [1920-1983]; Max Gluckman [1911-1975] yang mendiskusikan kompleksitas dan dinamika ritual kaitannya dengan adat-istiadat serta konflik dan integrasi sosial dan individual di kalangan masyarakat Afrika. Bidang sosiologi [Emile Durkheim [1858-1917], Jeffrey C Alexander [1947] mendiskusikan korelasi ritus dan keyakinan agama serta pertunjukkan sosial. Namun penelitian mengenai ritual yang berfokus pada studi antaragama jarang dilakukan melalui lensa sosiologi budaya. Maka penelitian ini berfokus pada masyarakat Fakfak di Papua Barat memiliki ritus Tombor Maghi yang dilakukan sebagai bentuk mempererat relasi lintas agama, yaitu Islam dan Kristen. Pelaksanaan ritus ini dilakukan awalnya dilakukan dalam bidang pernikahan, namun mengalami perkembangan makna, sehingga ritus Tombor Maghi dilakukan dalam rangka membangun Mesjid “Wewowo Maesjid Maghi”, Gereja “Wewowo Gereja Maghi”, menopang pendidikan “Wewowo STT Maghi” dan pembangunan “Wewowo Lembaga Masyarakat Adat Maghi” di Kabupaten Fakfak. Oleh sebab itu, tulisan ini hendak menjawab pertanyaan ontologis tentang apa pemahaman masyarakat Fakfak tentang ritus Tombor Maghi dalam mempererat relasi Islam dan Kristen. Untuk menjawab pertanyaan ini, penelitian dilakukan dengan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnografi realis. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara dan observasi yang dilaksanakan di Kabupaten Fakfak. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa ritus Tombor Maghi tetap dilakukan sebagai bagian dari sarana dialog dan teks kehidupan dalam merajut relasi lintas agama, khususnya dalam bidang pernikahan. Selain itu, Tombor Maghi memiliki perkembangan makna atau reproduksi budaya di mana melalui proses pembangunan dan peresmian maesjid, gedung gereja dan lembaga pendidikan, masyarakat yang berbeda agama, budaya, suku, latar belakang pendidikan bekerjasama untuk saling membantu, menolong di mana ritual itu dilestarikan dalam ruang keseharian masyarakat, sehingga hal ini dapat dilihat sebagai bagian dari politik pluralisme dalam kehidupan keseharian orang Fakfak untuk menciptakan relasi antaragama
Incarnation as a Sign of Divine Solidarity: A Theology of the Council of Nicaea
The Council of Nicaea (325 AD) was an important milestone in the history of Christianity that affirmed the divinity of Christ through the formulation of homoousios, namely the essential equality between Jesus Christ and the Father. In the Western theological tradition, this decision is often understood in the context of the theology of its time. However, in the perspective of Minjung theology that developed in the context of the struggle of the oppressed people in Korea, the incarnation of Christ is not merely an ontological issue, but also an act of divine solidarity with the oppressed. This study interprets the decision of the Council of Nicaea in the framework of Minjung theology, emphasizing how the incarnation of Christ can be seen as God's act that radically sides with those who suffer. This study uses a hermeneutic approach and explores how the concept of homoousios can be interpreted as a form of God's involvement in the reality of human suffering. Analysis of Minjung theological texts, especially the works of theologian Ahn Byung-Mu, is used to highlight the dimension of liberation in the event of the incarnation. The results of this study indicate that the meaning of the incarnation in the Minjung perspective emphasizes that God not only has compassion, but actively enters the history of human suffering, providing hope and transformative power for marginalized communities. Thus, the Minjung theological interpretation of the Council of Nicaea offers a more contextual and relevant understanding for Christian communities struggling in situations of injustice
Teknologi Artificial Intelligence dan Pelestarian Lingkungan dalam Perspektif Laudato Si
The development of technology in today's digital era has grown so rapidly. Artificial intelligence (AI) has great potential to help address global environmental challenges. Pope Francis in his encyclical Laudato Si' explains that humans are called to ecological conversion and take responsibility for the care of the environment. Humans, with the help of AI, can monitor and manage natural resources more efficiently and appropriately, from analyzing climate change to mitigating environmental impacts. This article uses the literature study method by analyzing relevant literature to discuss this article. This article aims to explore the role of AI in environmental conservation, particularly in the context of the teachings of the encyclical Laudato Si', which emphasizes the importance of caring for the earth as a common home. Ultimately, the application of technology should always be guided by ethical and moral values that respect the dignity of nature and human life.AbstrakPerkembangan teknologi dalam era digital saat ini telah berkembang begitu pesat. Kecerdasan buatan (AI) memiliki potensi besar untuk membantu mengatasi berbagai tantangan lingkungan global. Paus Fransiskus dalam ensiklik Laudato Si’ menjelaskan bahwa manusia dipanggil untuk melakukan pertobatan ekologis dan bertanggung jawab atas pemeliharaan lingkungan hidup. Manusia dengan bantuan AI, dapat memantau dan mengelola sumber daya alam secara lebih efisien dan tepat guna, dari menganalisis perubahan iklim hingga mitigasi dampak lingkungan. Artikel ini menggunakan metode studi pustaka dengan menganalisis literatur yang relevan untuk membahas artikel ini. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi peran AI dalam pelestarian lingkungan, khususnya dalam konteks ajaran ensiklik Laudato Si’, yang menekankan pentingnya merawat bumi sebagai rumah bersama. Pengaruh Diskresi Mahasiswa dalam Penggunaan Media Sosial Terhadap Terbentuknya Ruang-Ruang Perjumpaan di Komunitas Pendikkat Sanata Dharma dalam Terang Dokumen Christus Vivit
This article examines how discretion of Catholic Religion Ed-ucation students of Sanata Dharma University Yogyakarta in the use of social media affects the formation of encounter rooms offline. Research for this article was conducted using the quantitative research method. The purpose of this quanti-tative study is to investigate how students at Sanata Dharma University use social media to build social connections, share information, and build an offline community room. Research demonstrates that social interaction in the community is sig-nificantly affected by students' discretion in using social me-dia platforms, content, and interactions. The deep and inti-mate discretion allows the Catholic Religion Education stu-dents of Sanata Dharma University to build and create en-counter rooms that are inclusive, diverse, and supportive of the learning process and build social relations among the stu-dents' community. This intimate discretion also brings the expectation of good communication in classroom dynamics and the learning process.AbstrakArtikel ini dibuat dengan tujuan untuk mengungkap sejauh mana dampak diskresi mahasiswa Pendikkat, Universitas Sanata Dharma, Yogyakarta dalam memanfaatkan media sosial pada pembentukan ruang perjumpaan di dalam komunitas offline. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian artikel ini adalah metode penelitian kuantitatif. Pendekatan kuantitatif membantu peneliti dalam menganalisis bagaimana mahasiswa pendidikan memanfaatkan fitur-fitur media sosial untuk menciptakan koneksi sosial, berbagi informasi, dan membangun ruang perjumpaan komunitas offline di Kampus Pendidikan Keagamaan Katolik, Universitas Sanata Dharma. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa diskresi mahasiswa dalam menggunakan platform, konten, dan interaksi di media sosial secara signifikan mempengaruhi dinamika interaksi sosial dalam komunitas. Diskresi yang intim dan mendalam memungkinkan mahasiswa Pendikkat Sanata Dharma membangun dan menciptakan ruang-ruang perjumpaan yang inklusif, beragam, dan mendukung pembelajaran serta membangun hubungan sosial di antara komunitas mahasiswa. Selain itu, diskresi yang intim ini juga membawa harapan untuk terbentuknya komunikasi yang baik dalam dinamika belajar dan perkuliahan di kelas.
Mengharmonisasikan Manusia dan Alam: Kajian Filsafat Relasionalitas Armada Riyanto atas Kejadian 2:6-16
The writing of this article focuses on Harmonizing Man and Nature: Armada Riyanto's Relationality Philosophy Study on Genesis 2:6-16. The current ecological crisis is caused by human over-exploitation, such as mining, deforestation, factory waste into rivers and plastic waste. The purpose of writing this article is to harmonize nature and humans who have been destroyed by the ecological crisis. The findings are first, the similarity of the word 'Ādam םדא (Human) with the word המדא Adamā (Land) as a relation of "I and Reality (Phenomenon)" gives an understanding that humans come from the land. To destroy the soil is to destroy oneself. Second, the Garden of Eden (ןֶֶדֶג-ןַּג, Gan' Eden) as a space of subjectivity, namely the existential experience of the first human, and the teaching of Eco-Ethics for modern humans to act as subjects within its scope. Third, the tree of knowledge ַןַעהַַּ ַּןַּע (Etz Hada'at) and the river as a "Lifeworld" space have double meanings. The method used is literature review with descriptive analysis and hermeneutic exegesis.AbstrakPenulisan artikel ini berfokus pada Mengharmonisasikan Manusia dan Alam: Kajian Filsafat Relasionalitas Armada Riyanto atas Kejadian 2:6-16. Krisis ekologi yang terjadi saat ini disebabkan ulah manusia yang mengeksploitasi secara berlebihan, seperti pertambangan, deforestasi, limbah pabrik ke sungai dan sampah plastik. Tujuan dari penulisan artikel ini adalah mengharmonisasikan alam dan manusia yang telah hancur akibat kurasakan ekologi. Temuannya adalah pertama, kesamaan kata 'Ādam אדם (Manusia) dengan kata אדמה Adamā (Tanah) sebagai relasi “Aku dan Realitas (Fenomena)” memberi pemahaman bahwa manusia berasal dari tanah. Merusak tanah berarti merusak diri sendiri. Kedua, Taman Eden (גן־ ֶעֶ דֶן , Gan 'Eden) sebagai ruang subjektivitas yakni pengalaman eksistensial manusia pertama, dan ajaran Eco-Etika bagi manusia modern untuk bertindak sebagai subjek dalam ruang lingkupnya. Ketiga, pohon pengetahuan ֵעֵץ ה ד עת (Etz Hada'at) dan sungai sebagai ruang “Lifeworld” memiliki double makna. Metode yang digunakan adalah kajian pustaka dengan analisis deskriptif dan hermeneutika eksegesis
Keluarga Sebagai Rumah Pendidikan Cinta Kasih Menurut Paus Fransiskus dalam Dokumen Amoris Laetitia
This article presents love as having fundamental significance in the holistic formation of individual character, encompassing cognitive, affective and behavioral dimensions. Love facilitates the development of essential socio-emotional competencies, such as emotion regulation, empathy, and interpersonal skills. According to the apostolic call Amoris Laetitia, through the perspective of the Catholic faith, the family plays a central and irreplaceable role as the primary socialization agent in internalizing the values of love. Developing a structured and comprehensive educational program to improve families' understanding of Christian values, including love, as well as providing practical provisions to implement these values in daily life. Based on these findings, the author develops an effective strategic framework for the implementation of love education in the family environment according to the Amoris Laetitia document. The method used in this article is the literature study research method.AbstrakArtikel ini menyajikan tentang cinta kasih yang memiliki signifikansi fundamental dalam pembentukan karakter individu yang holistik, mencakup dimensi kognitif, afektif, dan perilaku. Cinta kasih memfasilitasi perkembangan kompetensi sosio-emosional yang esensial, seperti regulasi emosi, empati, dan keterampilan interpersonal. Menurut seruan apostolik Amoris Laetitia, melalui perspektif iman Katolik, keluarga memegang peran sentral dan tak tergantikan sebagai agen sosialisasi primer dalam internalisasi nilai-nilai cinta kasih. Mengembangkan program pendidikan yang terstruktur dan komprehensif untuk meningkatkan pemahaman keluarga tentang nilai-nilai Kristiani, termasuk cinta kasih, serta memberikan bekal praktis untuk mengimplementasikan nilai-nilai tersebut dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut maka penulis mengembangkan kerangka kerja strategis yang efektif untuk implementasi pendidikan cinta kasih dalam lingkungan keluarga menurut dokumen Amoris Laetitia. Peran Perempuan dalam Menumbuhkan Nilai-Nilai Kemanusiaan menurut Paus Fransiskus
Pope Francis realizes that there are still many women in various parts of the world who face suffering, injustice and inequality. The challenges faced by these women include violence, discrimination and marginalization in various aspects of life. However, women have a very important role in cultivating and maintaining human values. This research aims to increase awareness of all parties, especially women, to be more actively involved in fostering and developing human values. One of the main approaches to supporting this role is through education, both formal and informal, which is seen as the key to advancing holistic human development. The method used in this research is literature study. In the previous article, the role of women and politics was written which was used as a slogan in political parties. This research explores three main focuses: Pope Francis' views on women, the contribution of women in cultivating human values, and the application of these human values in life. The results of this research confirm that the role of women is very significant in strengthening human values, both through formal and informal education. These two educational pathways can help society better appreciate human dignity as God's noble creation. So there is a need for collaboration from several parties to realize the role of women in fostering human values.AbstrakPaus Fransiskus menyadari bahwa masih banyak perempuan di berbagai belahan dunia yang menghadapi penderitaan, ketidakadilan, dan ketidaksetaraan. Tantangan yang dihadapi perempuan ini meliputi kekerasan, diskriminasi, serta marginalisasi dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan. Namun demikian, perempuan memiliki peran yang sangat penting dalam menumbuhkan dan menjaga nilai-nilai kemanusiaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran semua pihak, terutama perempuan, agar lebih aktif terlibat dalam pembinaan dan pengembangan nilai-nilai kemanusiaan. Salah satu pendekatan utama untuk mendukung peran tersebut adalah melalui pendidikan, baik formal maupun informal, yang dipandang sebagai kunci dalam memajukan pembangunan manusia secara holistik. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi pustaka. Dalam tulisan sebelumnya dituliskan peran perempuan dan politik yang dijadikan slogan dalam partai politik. Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi tiga fokus utama: pandangan Paus Fransiskus tentang perempuan, kontribusi perempuan dalam menumbuhkan nilai-nilai kemanusiaan, serta penerapan nilai-nilai kemanusiaan tersebut dalam kehidupan. Hasil penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa peran perempuan sangat signifikan dalam memperkuat nilai-nilai kemanusiaan, baik melalui pendidikan formal maupun informal. Kedua jalur pendidikan ini dapat membantu masyarakat lebih menghargai martabat manusia sebagai ciptaan Tuhan yang mulia. Maka perlu adanya kolaborasi dari beberapa pihak untuk mewujudkan peran perempuan dalam menumbuhkan nilai-nilai kemanusiaan
