Integrating Worship Philosophy into Urban Mission: Motivating the CMC Church Congregation through Worship Education

    No full text
This study explores the integration of the philosophy of worship within Christian religious education in the church, emphasizing its role as a holistic expression of missional service in urban communities. The primary objective is to demonstrate that worship philosophy—when aligned with mission-oriented and pastorally focused teaching—embodies a comprehensive devotion of believers to God. This devotion is expressed through both worship and acts of service that exemplify Christian values, particularly within the complexities of urban life. Drawing on qualitative analysis of various literature sources, the study investigates how mission-oriented pastoral practices have been implemented in urban contexts, where congregational engagement is often hindered by fast-paced lifestyles and spiritual apathy. Despite these challenges, the research finds that many individuals have been effectively encouraged to re-engage with church life through intentional, spiritually grounded approaches that affirm God as the ultimate source of meaning and direction. The findings highlight that contextually sensitive mission services—especially those that are responsive and pastoral in nature—function as redemptive teaching tools. These approaches reawaken inactive congregants and foster renewed commitment to corporate worship. The study concludes that strategic pastoral outreach and mission care in urban settings can effectively revitalize worship participation and empower believers to live faith-filled, victorious live

This research discusses the identity of Jesus Christ in the book Apology I written by Justin Martyr. The researcher uses historical literature analysis to deeply examine Yustinus Martir's thoughts on the identity of Christ in his book. The results of the study found that the identity of Christ in the book Apology I highlights the historical analogy and divinity of Jesus as the Son of God to state that Jesus existed before all times. The Jewish prophets had also prophesied about Him in the Old Testament so that Jesus came to fulfill the hope of Israel. Moreover, Justin also compared  Jesus’ identity as the Son of God with that of Jupiter’s . These identities  were able to influence the views of Christian Christology in the second century AD.AbstrakPenelitian ini membahas identitas Yesus Kristus dalam buku Apologi I yang ditulis oleh Yustinus Martir.

Focus this paper is comparing the concept of othering women in Armada's Relational Philosophy and the concept of ata pe'ang (outsider) in Manggarai culture. The method used is a critical analysis with a comparative approach between the concept of othering women in Armada's Relational Philosophy and the concept of ata pe'ang in Manggarai culture. The author finds that the label of ata pe'ang has shackled women, thus viewing them as the other. This shackling is rooted in a misunderstanding of the concept of ata pe'ang as intended by the Manggarai ancestors. Relational Philosophy can serve as a critical lens for this reality. Relational philosophy provides a new contribution, namely that ata pe'ang must be viewed as relational subjects, and it critiques the marginalization of women in Manggarai culture. Furthermore, Armada's philosophical concept helps reconstruct unequal cultural practices and affirms that women, as ata pe'ang, can be agents of change in communal life.

    No full text
Torok Wuat Wa'i is a traditional ritual of the Manggarai community conducted when someone is about to migrate. Using qualitative methods through literature studies and interviews, this research aims to delve into the understanding of divinity in the Torok Wuat Wa’i ceremony, particularly for those who are going to study. The results show that the Manggarai people have a belief in a God who governs the universe and human life, whom they refer to as Mori Kraeng. Through the Torok Wuat Wa’i ritual, they pray for a good life and protection from Mori Kraeng, from the moment a person departs from their hometown, during the journey, throughout their studies in the migration area, and until their return to their hometown. Additionally, in the Torok Wuat Wa’i ceremony, they also pay homage to their ancestors, who are believed to play a crucial role in maintaining the balance of nature and human life. Therefore, the Torok Wuat Wa’i ceremony serves not only as a means to establish relationships and seek blessings from God but also as a manifestation of togetherness and unity among humans, the universe, and the spiritual world.

The focus of this paper is to describe the case of bribery at the Supreme Court, Ex-Commissioner of Wika Beton Charged with 11 Years and 5 Months in Prison that occurred on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 - 15:05 and the emphasis of the case is on Christian moral rules and norms. The aim is to provide a brief panorama of the synopsis of the case and the moral issues raised in the case.  In addition, the author looks first at the general principles and ways of evaluating moral acts in a specific theory (fontes moralitas), followed by an analysis of the rules and norms of Christian morality and an assessment of the rules and norms of Christian morality.  The methods used in this article are literature study and case study, namely by looking at the overall explanation of the lectures in class, looking at the diktat of fundamental moral theology two, books related to Christian morals, and articles from journals.  The author found that in reality, some people do not live according to the rules and norms that apply in society. Some people consider rules and norms only as symbols in an institution. This means that humans are immersed in the comfort or enjoyment of their position, so there is a tendency to bribe or extortion or even arbitrary corruption.  Here there is a conclusion or virtue (Arete) from the case that the church does not turn a blind eye to the actions of Christians against all the crimes that take turns either in days, months or years. The church continues to pay attention to the rules and norms that occur in Christian moral life, so Pope John Paul II issued an encyclical entitled “Ut Unum Sint” (May 25, 1995). This encyclical discusses the Catholic Church's commitment to ecumenism, the fruits of dialogue, how far we have to go, and a recommendation. In addition, it is not only about corruption but also includes the issue of bribery or extortion.

    No full text
In order for a Synodal Church to be realized, laypeople are essential. All members must actively participate in walking together, but especially the laity, who are crucial to the establishment of a synodal church. The challenge in aiming for a synodal church is the absence of lay participation. This is because of the laity's ignorance of their role in establishing a synodal church, their perception of the church as hierarchical, and their lack of comprehension of spirituality in ministry. According to Christophe Pierre (2021), "Synodality involves a spirituality of affirmation of the Spirit expressed in an attitude of understanding, discernment, and decision-making."  In the Synodal Church, lay leadership spirituality is very important. How does the encounter-based spirituality of laity leadership function within the Synodal Church? by employing a literature review and descriptive analysis with an emphasis on the spirituality of laity leadership. According to KTI, SG Art. 6:12, "synodality is the modus vivendi et operandi (mission and vocation) of the Church, which walks together." Finding the spirituality of laity leadership in the realization of a synodal church is the research's outcomeAbstrakKaum Awam berperan penting dalam mewujudkan Gereja Sinodal.

This article explores the personal experience of Catholic Youth (OMK) with Christ in the context of their daily lives amid contemporary challenges. In a social setting marked by digitalization, value relativism, and spiritual disruption, personal faith experience becomes a vital aspect in shaping the maturity of young people's faith. The aim of this study is to deeply understand how young Catholics experience the presence and relationship with Christ, and how these experiences shape their spirituality and daily faith practice. This qualitative research uses the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with six youth members from the Parish of Saint Mary Regina Purbowardayan, Surakarta. The findings reveal two major themes: personal relationship with Christ and the embodiment of Christ’s love in real-life actions. Christ is experienced as a companion, healer, and source of strength in life. These experiences form a transformative spirituality that motivates the youth to actively engage in service and witness. In conclusion, the personal experience of Christ serves as a relevant and contextual spiritual resource for youth in facing the challenges of the times and underscores the need for pastoral approaches rooted in lived experience
