Addressing Australia’s Stolen Generations: An Analysis of Two Prime Ministerial Speeches
Get PDFIn this paper two landmark speeches by former Australian Prime Ministers Paul Keating and Kevin Rudd addressing the history of relations between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians are analysed. A systemic functional linguistic (SFL) framework incorporating contextual and linguistic analyses is used to reveal how similarities and differences in the style and communicative functionality of the two speeches results from the dynamic relation between text and context. The similarities in the two texts emerged from their sharing similar situational contexts. Differences in the general style and communicative function of the two texts were shown to have emerged from differences in other contextual factors such as purpose, setting and sociocultural context. It is demonstrated how the relationship between text and context is systematic and two-way and that exploring these dynamic relations in a systemic functional framework can lead to a better understanding of texts and their purposes. Get PDF本稿では、新潟県における妙高ゆきエビと村上鮭の養殖事業の事例を報告する。前者は、陸上養殖という特徴的な事例で、十分な技術によって良質な「製品」を作ることができた。しかし、販売面で、同種の他社製品や天然物と質の差別化ができず、また価格相応の価値を訴求することができないキャズム（chasm）によって、失敗した事例である。後者は、歴史と街づくりに裏打ちされた観光産業はじめ鮭の商品化を現在も進行しており、地方色豊かな事例である。地方発の養殖事業は、今後「漁業の6 次産業化」の推進が課題であろう。つまり、養殖による水産物の生産だけでなく、2 次産業的な水産物加工や3 次産業的な情報やサービス、観光をも視野に入れることである。departmental bulletin pape

Get PDF古代から現代まで東北アジアの人々は好んでコンブ（マコンブとその近縁種）を食べている。20世紀以降はコンブを原料とするアルギン酸が世界中で多用途に用いられるようになった。世界最大のコンブ消費地は中国である。しかし、コンブは中国沿岸で自生していなかった。古代から20 世紀半ばまで中国はコンブをもっぱら周辺地域からの輸入に頼っていた。このコンブ貿易は19 世紀半ばに拡大した。19 世紀から20 世紀半ばまでの輸入品の大部分は日本産だったが、19 世紀の末には沿海州やサハリン島などのロシア極東産のコンブも一定の地歩を占めていた。こうした状況が一変したのが1950 年代である。藻類学者の曾呈奎が開発した養殖技術によって中国はコンブの完全自給を達成した。現在の中国は年間で約300 万トンのコンブを生産する世界最大のコンブ生産国であり、世界第2 位の海藻生産国である。こうして古代から続いてきたコンブ貿易の道は廃れた。departmental bulletin pape
Social norms, gender identity, and high-earning wives’ housework behavior in Japan: An identity economics framework
Get PDFThis article takes an identity economics perspective to examine the housework behavior of Japanese wives of couples where both spouses work full-time, based on panel data from the Japanese Panel Survey of Consumers in 2000–2008. First, we show that Japanese wives are reluctant to reduce their housework time even when they out-earn their husbands. Second, there is no negative linear relationship between wives’ absolute income and the time they allocate to unpaid work. Last, we find no evidence that low-earning wives reduce their time spent on housework more rapidly than high-earning wives in Japan.journal articl

Get PDF文部科学省が主眼を置いている産学連携は大学に収入をもたらすものであるため、理系が主な対象である。そこで、文系研究室の一教員のレベルで即時開始可能である低予算かつ小規模の産学連携プロジェクトをグループワークによる授業として実施した。その結果、即時かつ低予算で実行できたことや、題材に対する学生の関心などの点では目的を達成できたが、成果物の水準や今後の展開については改善すべき点があることが明らかになった。これらの反省を踏まえ、産学連携をより大きなものに育てることが今後の課題である。departmental bulletin pape
