Complex Number Notation for the Truth Value in Logic
Get PDFIn this paper, we will investigate how to introduce the complex number notation for the
truth value in logic. The truth value in a logic is used to interpret whether a given
proposition is valid or not. The proposition are notated by formulas, which are constructed
from the set of atomic propo-sitional variables V AR by the standard truth functional
connectives: ¬(negation), ∧ (conjunction), ∨ (disjunction) and → (material implication). So, to
interpret a formula, we need at first to define a truth assignment function v : V AR → { 0, 1 }.
Here { 0, 1 } is a set of truth values in 2-valued logic. As the valid formulas in 2-valued logic,
law of excluded middle, law of noncontradiction, law of double negation, De Morgan’s laws
and Lewis principles are well-known. On the other hand, there exists a situation in which
2-valued logic, i.e. law of excluded middle A∨¬A was not valid. To interpret such a
situation, there are proposed several kinds of non-standard logics, intuitionistic logic, De
Morgan logic and Ł- ukasiewicz 3-valued logic, for instance. The validity of formulas in nonstandard
logics, are defined on the order relation among the truth value set of many
numerical elements. Therefore, in order to exploit the strong analytical property of complex
number domain, we will propose the complex number notation, precisely v(B) = v(A)eiθ as
the interpretation of a pair sentence (A, B), instead of using natural number or real number

Effect of self-restraint of activities when the new coronavirus infection spreads on the physical fitness of general male and female university students: Validity of home exercise and physical fitness measurements by distance learning
Get PDFIn this study, in order to clarify whether the results of the physical fitness test by
physical education distance learning were appropriate, or whether the physical fitness of university students in 2020 was affected by the self-restraint of activities due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, a questionnaire on exercise habits and the same physical fitness test was conducted in the first (online class) and the second semester (face-to-face class). The subjects were 120 male and 41 female students who took physical education and other classes in the first or second semester of 2020.
When comparing the exercise frequency in 2020 with that in 2019, 64.9% and 56.1% of male and female students answered that they had “decrease”, respectively. Regarding exercise habits, “exercising” in the first semester was 59.7% and 34.1%, and 62.3% and 46.3% in the second semester, respectively. The 2-step value was 14% lower (p<0.001) than the second semester (1.763 ± 0.124: mixed sex average: n=40) in the first semester (1.562 ± 0.125), and the Sit-up was 11% lower (p<0.001) than the second semester (27.8 ± 4.4 times: n=39) in the first semester (25.1 ± 5.3 times), the poor measurement conditions at home was
considered. On the other hand, the one-leg standing test with eyes closed, the value in the first semester (77.9 ± 37.7 sec: self-report value: n=39) was significantly higher (p<0.001) than that in the second semester (49.2 ± 34.7 sec) . The grip strength (male 39.4 ± 8.0 kg, female 23.3 ± 4.5 kg) and vertical jump (54.4 ± 8.6cm, 37.3 ± 5.7cm) of the subjects in the second semester tended to be than those reported in the past, but no significant differences were observed.
From these results, it was suggested that exercise and physical fitness test can be
performed with appropriate guidance and measurement conditions, and the physical fitness of university students at the period of the spread of the new coronavirus infection is not significantly reduced although the frequency of exercise is decreasing due to self-restraint of activities.departmental bulletin pape

An Empirical Study on Remote Classes
Get PDF2019 年度の第４四半期頃から新型コロナウィルスが広がりを見せ、他の多くの大学同様に新潟国際情報大学も2020 年度前期の授業を遠隔（オンライン）で実施することを決めた。
遠隔授業決定から実施まで極めて短い期間しかなく（１ヵ月程度）、十分な準備ができないまま、大部分の教員が未知の領域に踏み込まなければならなかった。しかし、遠隔授業を実施することによってさまざまの知識を獲得することができた。本論文では、筆者の遠隔授業の体験とそこから得られた知識、評価、課題を整理して述べる。
遠隔授業は、新型コロナウィルス感染の広がりがほぼなくなった後も、従来の対面型授業を補完、あるいはもう一つの授業形態として定着していくと思われる。このように考えた時、遠隔授業で得られた知識・経験は広く共有され、課題は真摯に解決に取り組まなければならないと考える。departmental bulletin pape

Get PDF本稿では、2020 年度前期の遠隔授業（オンライン授業）およびその前後の学期の講義科目を中心とした授業の実施および改善事例を述べる。
2020 年度前期は遠隔授業を同期型授業で実施した。対面授業の内容をそのまま遠隔授業へ移行したが、授業用資料と復習テストの電子化を行った。なお、当学期の遠隔授業には、これまでの授業改善の成果が活かされている。
2020 年度後期は対面授業を実施した。授業用資料と復習テストの電子化を継続して実施するとともに、対面授業でのパソコンやスマートフォンなどの使用を可とした。

The Effectiveness of Peer-Response Groupwork in CLIL and EFL Classroom Settings: A Collaborative Work in Writing Courses in Japan
Get PDFA researcher has been utilizing the EIKEN Tests (Test in Practical English
Proficiency, known as EIKEN) on university first-year students as a kind of selflearning
in the compulsory course at Niigata University of International and
Information Studies (known as NUIS) since 2014. Although the potential value
and effectiveness of the test are proved by quantitative findings and analysis of
students’ results, it still carries meanings to study further about the influences of
EIKEN tests on EFL class in Japan. In this paper, the researcher pinpointed the
effectiveness of peer-response groupwork in CLIL and EFL classroom settings
based on ESL/EFL writing to acquire the basic writing skills for passing EIKEN
tests. Particularly, four different topics based on Process Writing Approach
(White & Arndt, 1991) were discussed in terms of ESL/EFL writing instruction,
which puts more focus on learners’ sense of independence and initiatives in peerresponse
groupwork: 1) groupwork both in English 101 & 102 (Introduction to
Writing) in university in USA & Block 3 ESL (low intermediate to intermediate
level) in a language school affiliated with the university, 2) psycholinguistic
argument of groupwork instructed under the theory of Second Language
Acquisition (SLA), 3) educational argument of peer-response groupwork – pros
& cons- ;4) the effectiveness of peer-response groupwork in Japanese ESL/EFL
