Melaka Streetscape Evolution: The six years journey
Get PDFThe study looks at the six years changes made to the streetscape of Melaka to adapt to the requirement of a better quality of life for the occupants. The different approach to regeneration scheme of Melaka could provide insight into modern demands for the city. The idea of integrating all the streets within the historic core area to form a synchronised pedestrian route system is plausible as it will help the users to experience the historic area as a whole may portray the trend of local economic growth and provide opportunities for improvement of the area
Quality Of Life of Cancer Patients in Malaysia: A literature review
Get PDFMeasuring quality of life provides information helpful for cancer patients. However, facts about the quality of life and its associated factors among cancer patients in Malaysia are inconclusive. The aim of this review of literature is to evaluate the quality of life of cancer patients and its associated factors. Based on this review of the literature, it identified 19 studies. Associated factors effecting quality of life of cancer patients include socio-demographic, health related, psychological issues. In conclusion, there is a need for further research to focus on developing effective interventions to enhance the patients' quality of life
Roadside Tree Management in Urban Area for Public Safety and Properties
Get PDFRoadside planting is a row of trees along the road which provides shades for people in urban areas. Proper management practices among the local authorities will improve the quality of life and human well-being. Unhealthy trees may cause problems to the road users that result from the lack of monitoring by local governing bodies. 200 respondents from the public from Selayang Municipal Council and Shah Alam City Council have participated in this study. The data analysis showed that fallen trees were the main reason for the public to lodge complaints, followed by brittle branches, thick branches and leaning tree trunk

It examines the various dimensions of public art typology and significance roles of the public art installation. The outcome of this paper is hoped to provide a better understanding and appreciation of public art among stakeholders that lead to more successful implementation for a better quality of the public realm in the urban spaces
Hopefulness and the Mothers' Wellbeing: Children with SpLD
Get PDFMothers who are having children with SpLD may have changes in their hopes since they may experience many dramatic changes in life circumstances. A semi-structured interview was conducted to explore mother's hopes in providing care children with SpLD. The data was analysed using six stages of the interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA). The finding revealed that two superordinate themes emerged: "I have faith…" and "I'm expecting…" relating to different perspectives of hopes. A positive hope facilitates positive influence among mothers in providing care children with SpLD. Later, it postulated a better quality of life amongst mother in having children with SpLD
Psychological Appraisal of UiTM Dental Undergraduates in Clinical Years
Get PDFThis cross sectional study investigated the occurrence of depression, anxiety and stress, and identified the possible stress factors among 127 clinical dental undergraduates from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sungai Buloh, Malaysia. Overall, the scores of DASS-21 shows majority of dental undergraduates have no depression, anxiety and stress. This study highlights the main factor affecting the dental undergraduates' depression levels is the students' educational environment. Future research on any correlation between depression levels and clinical performances is highly recommended for better understanding on this topic, and to provide better educational environment at dental institutes in Malaysia

Analysis of Malaysian Regional Quality-of-Life and its Policy Implications
Get PDFThe Malaysian Quality of life Index (MQLI) has improved by 7.0 points during 1990-2000 and further to another 11.9 points from 2000 to 2010. Nevertheless, it is anticipated that the improvement in the QOL has not been uniform across the states in the country. Therefore, a study need arises to investigate the regional variations in the QOL in the country so that future policies may be directed towards removing the disparity in socioeconomic development of the country. Motivation of Visiting Bako National Park
Get PDFThis study was to analyse the visitors’ motives of visiting Bako National Park. A total of 564 visitors were interviewed. Varimax rotation method in factor analysis was employed to gain information from visitors on their behaviour reflecting their motives for ecotourism activities in the national park. The results showed that visitors visit a national park for four factors: challenge excursion, social trip, nature tour and getaway outing. This result may help the management authority to reposition national park attributes without neglecting the objectives of the national park existence.
